10 extra dollars for each button

Yikes no thanks

Like bags of milk.

depends on the controller, but i like them

That's my favorite style for them. Naturally aligns with your grip, doesn't protrude so there's zero discomfort, likely positioned in a way that you won't accidentally press them but won't have to reach for them either. Most other back button designs fail at at least one aspect of that, but I'd still rather have them than not.

Convenient depending on the game but VERY uncomfortable if you start trying to use them for any button you press often

I like them in splatoon, they're the least comfortable kind of button to use but for jumping they're enough

Good, but it's weird that this controller only went one pair.

The make that argument for asymmetric controllers even more retarded.

I just dont see any situation where I would use them what do people usually map them to
there was one single game i've ever played that felt like I didn't have enough buttons on my controller and that was doom eternal
and im sure as hell not playing doom games on the fucking switch

They are useless. The controller was perfected when the Dualshock released and every "innovation" that came afterwords is just a gimmick (although I do like that xbox controllers can run on batteries instead of being charged).

2 more buttons is useless

anon i...

You don't need them. There are enough buttons on the controller without them. If your game needs more buttons it should be played with a mouse and keyboard.

They mean you don't have to take your thumb off the right stick anymore.

great. i can turn my camera in elden ring without clawgripping the sprint button anymore.

Nintendo has changed the game.

one button on the back means you dont have take your thumb off of the right stick

lol. This shit is only for shooters and those do not belong on console. Anybody who buys this shit is a faggot and a cuck.

anon...

games like sekiro could be improved with 2 more backbuttons. More skills are your fingertips without having to pause the game to change your equipped skill

one button on the back

I guess that one tenth of a second you save by not moving your thumb really means a lot when you are a god damn tranny who is going to kill xirself before you turn 30. Fortunately, I am a normal human being who uses a normal controller.

I map them to LB and RB for most games and it's a lot more comfortable for me

I think that they are pretty much essentially by now. Steam Deck has it right with the 4 back buttons and gyro. Im hoping steam controller 2 comes soon.

seems pointless, I map them to face buttons so I don't have to lift my thumb off the stick

talking about controllers

brings up trannies out of nowhere

The Steam controller had its issues, but they were fixed with the Steamdeck. Would be great to have that in controller form.

mad because you've been called out

It's time for you to dilate.

like your moms pussy

Leaks say they are already working on it, cosename Ibex. Pretty much a steam deck with no screen and controller ergonomics. I was really impressed by the steam controller 1, it even had gamecube style triggers which i didn't notice until recently with mine.

I like these, but the flydigi doesnt use the same mechanical keys that the face buttons have.
I wonder if controllers could benefit from magnetic keys like the wooting/nuphy keyboards. They have incredibly low actutations

I've seen the leaks, but I'll believe them when I see it.

only one on each side

Nintendo being 1 gen behind as usual I see

Big fan of them for souls games since it means I don't need to Claw Grip for camera control + dodging
Nice to have in general and I have no idea how they aren't completely standardized

From the controllers I've used they make it feel like garbage because they either affect your grip or cause you to hold your controller differently in ways that aren't as comfortable as before. Many of them also require you to push in an awkward way so if you need to repeatedly press that button (Like the common example of binding sprint to the button in Souls games) it gets really annoying.

I would like to experience it with the Steam Deck because many people praise it for feeling natural, but I haven't had any luck with it on other controllers so I'm skeptical.

Hell yea.

how does it feel not being able to have even a small disagreement without going full sperg? I wonder why suicide is so top of mind for u

The only person whose mad here is you. Fucking kill yourself you tranny.

Z button was amazing and I will die on that hill.

white and black completely separate

yes its perfect

back of the controller maybe

It's the only base controller with back buttons.
Dualsense Edge is $140. Xbox Elite controller is $150. Almost 2x more expensive

Thank golly for 3rd party controllers

what does the G stand for

more contollers should have this type of back buttons

It's not about adding more inputs, it's about remapping the awkward ones to a more accessible position

You know that the steam deck allows you to remap controls, including those for PC games, so the back buttons are a godsend. Begone, turd worlder

Map sprint to the back button

Now you can run and jump in BOTW without having to go claw mode

depends if they are overly sensitive to pressure since i tend to clutch my controller a lot

Symmetrical analogs

They could be used for half of the N64's C Buttons, but at that point I would just get a 6-button controller

I have the first xbox elite controller, and for e.g. dark souls that shit is a game changer. You can use both sticks and still press abxy at any point without moving your thumb from the right stick so playing without lock on is a lot easier.

it takes a while to get used to, but i dont like playing with "normal" controllers anymore

How do back buttons feel?

it's like when your and your friend's penises touch

For games that use both R1 and R2 constantly, they're great. Using both index and middle fingers to press R1 and R2 independently is uncomfortable for me. Index finger on R2 and middle finger on back button is a lot more natural feeling.

Useless I can't say I've ever used or felt the need to

I always hit these by accident

What's stopping them from adding another pair of buttons below where your pinks would naturally rest?

Mapping them to d-pad or face buttons so you don't have to pull your thumb off the analog sticks

t. Monster Hunter Wilds nigga who's suffering from playing on a controller because I'm too much of a lazy shitter to pinpoint target different parts of a monster in Focus Mode

Between sticks, d-pad, start, and select, there's at minimum 12 inputs on a controller divided between two thumbs. Back buttons are for offloading some of that to the middle or ring fingers that aren't doing anything. A common example is d-pad binds for soulsborne items/spells. It's also useful for games like Mega Man or Sakuna that might want you to perform near-simultaneous actions with multiple face buttons.

Another decades old feature that tendies are going to discover and claim they invented

You'll tell me

The only Switch game where I felt I needed more buttons was Metroid Dread. I hated having to press the joystick while walking in order to run; it felt like I was going to drift the shit out of my joystick. The extra buttons will be a nice addition for Metroid 6.

I use the Hori Split Pad Pro on my Nintendo Switch and it has one of these buttons on each side, but their position makes them too uncomfortable.
I also don't think they're really suitable for normal use, even if they were comfortable. The idea is to replace some of the front buttons when you're playing a game that requires both analog sticks.
But it only makes sense if it's something you're only going to use occasionally rather than all the time.
