I've done the arena legitimately in 6 and 7 without save states and I had some close calls.
Ironically I had the hardest time in FE8 "hard" mode. The game started throwing a lot stronger enemies at me after just a couple levels and I kept having to give up. I managed to make my money back with Seth and said fuck it.
I wonder if they just don't want you to use the arena in 8, since the game is already so easy and they give you skirmishes and the tower for free experience already.

Is that one Awakening chapter where you fight Lucina and get Lon'qu the only gladiator map in the series?

hector hard more changes a lot of the enemy positions to make them harder to tackle, it also adds a lot of staff spam in the endgame

theres a patch that turns the sommiel into a tellius-like base, it puts all the essentials in one menu and removes the loading time when going to the arena and the ring chamber

FE6 surprisingly good since hit rates are a real concern and Rutger being excellent

Bad in FE7 because now hit rates aren't as bad and killing everyone with two range is more efficient plus swords are weak as hell. Popularized the swordmaster waifu

FE8 is easy peasey lemon squeezy and I like Joshua so I'm biased but still not great due to range

FE9 bad, Zihark is saved by solid bases and affinity but hit rates are too damn high

FE10 despite no two range and weak ass weapons manage to be absolute rape trains and their movement penalties are less of an issue due to the game being full of stairs and terrain.

FE11 bad the game was not balanced around that many spears plus weapon triangle and the hard on for forging effective weaons

FE12 mostly the same as above

FE13 bad but the characters who want to be swordmasters are usually quite good so it balances out (Felix and especially Catherine on BL route) they'd rather be on a wyvern though like everyone else
