It's over for civkeks

It's over for civkeks.

Why the reviewbombing? Not enough blackwashed european monarchs?

good, real time strategy is better than turn based slop anyways
we need to play EU4 multiplayer game to celebrate this
come to my thread

Steam reviews no longer matter, CIV is now a mobile franchise

'wokeness' aside, this series hasn't really had anywhere to go since at least CIV V. It exists in a weird spot where it's not casual enough for the retard class, but simple enough that modern strategy gamers just don't really give a shit about it any more. I was hoping for a more dignified death for such a titan of the strategy game genre but sadly I don't think that's possible

We had a good thing, you stupid son of a bitch! We had Ancient Era America in a Pangea map, We had everything we needed, and it all ran like clockwork. You could've shut your mouth, made Civ 5.2 and made as much DLC money as you ever needed. It was perfect. But, no, you just had to blow it up. You and your pride and your civ-switching! You just had to be Humankind 2. If you'd done your job, known your place, you'd be all fine right now.

Review bombing is a coordinated effort to lower a score. People leaving negative reviews because they are dissatisfied is not a review bomb, no matter how much you want that to be the case.

Civilization 7 flopped because Firaxis has been chasing "modern audiences" since Civilization 5. Each game has to be more simplified to appeal to a wider possible audience. Civilization, however, is effectively the stepping stone into 4X games, being the easiest and simpliest series with a meaningful amount of players. Because of this, every Civilization game disappoints everyone before it, who are seeking more complex 4X games to play after bouncing off the Civilization springboard. Market saturation is to the point where it's hard to find anyone who is both willing to try a 4X game and who hasn't already played one.

I've seen the meta + civ 7 ads on tv lately
I rushed out and bought a meta quest 3 and civ 7
no price is too much for sid meier's civilization 7!!!!

Civ 4 seemed like they were going in the direction of being more narrative focused and having a more fluid progression system in terms of tech/society choices and so on.

5 took a step back from this, but then sort of returned to it in the DLCs
6 kind of also played with this idea but again never committed even as much as 4 did.

Classic Civ was all about YOUR empire and YOUR journey through history, it was the peak example of Hegel’s theory of the historical dialectic and they could have leaned into that to set themselves apart from other strategy and 4x games which either firmly place themselves in a realistic historical recreation, or some fantasy/sci-fi context.

Civ 4 was peak
Civ 5 was multiplayer first and only became fleshed out after years of updates
Civ 6 I never found to truly become great.

Diversity and inclusion is under siege. I stand with Firaxis Games against the forces of bitterness and hate.

The thing that turned me off more than anything upon seeing it is that cities are now cancerous tumors that end up being half of the physical space of your empire

what were they thinking copying Humankind anyway

No hidden agenda there. Shut it down.

Get me a black civil rights movement figure for an american leader. Just one, and i'll do the rest. You won't even have to lift a finger.

Please.

When the going gets tough, you don't want a 4X game about history, you want a 4X game that IS history, yo.

real time strategy is for spastic retards that can't think and just wanna jerk around their hand but your dicks already suffering from friction so you switched to the mouse

YOU'RE NOT A REAL CIV GAME!

CIV SWITCHING AND NO GANDHI, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE? WHAT A JOKE!

nobody else feels weird a creator attached his name into the game title ?

n-no haha
t. Tom Clancy

I am not crazy. I know it's DEI, i just know it is! It always was woke. Every single one after the fourth. As if the series could ever be kino after they removed down Hitler's quotes! I just- i couldn't prove it. Fifth and sixth were still good enough for the casual audience! You think that's something? You think this is bad?! He's done worse. The policy cards in sixth? Do you think a game designer just happenes to shit the bed like that? No! He's orchestrated it! Sid did! He defecated on a decades old series! And i bought it, i bought the game! And i shouldn't have! What was i thinking? The DLC won't fix it! It never will! Ever since Beyond Earth! Couldn't keep the quality from slipping! Stealing the gamers blind! And it gets to be a GOTY contender? What a sick joke. I shouldn't have bought it when i had the chance! And you shouldn't buy it either!

no Ghandi

What's even the point of playing a Civ game without a nuclear Ghandi.

Because Ghandi was shit and should have been forgotten long ago.

Civ7 has been made purely for cosmetics and DLC.

New civ with every age: More leaders and civs to sell

No long games allowed: You choose a leader/civ more often and therefore are more tempted to buy a new one

Tech rubberbanding: Casuals fail less and buy more

So they made it for DLC, but then the DLC contains stuff no one wants, like DEI leaders or civs you don't care about.
Mindboggling. They clearly want to sell DLC, but are too scared to cater to the actual audience.

No thanks, Sid. I'll keep playing Civ V with Vox Populi.
It's the perfect Civ game.

Don't care, still playing Civ 4 (objectively the magnum opus of the franchise) and will continue to do so for decades to come.

I just hope every other 4X will learn from this. As if humankind wasn't enough anyway jesus christ.

It is genuinely, truly over.
As a big V fan, I can hardly believe just how much they fumbled VII. They had nearly 15 years to learn and improve.

It just had a horrible launch, typical bug-riddled 2025 shit on a plate, filled with multitudes of bad design choices

There's no freedom, it's disgusting just how on-rails VII is. You have to play it THEIR way, the way THEY want you to.

So many stupid restrictions and additions.
Like you can't ever visit the other continent(s) until they let you. Just the dumb vertical string of islands that's in every game.

denuvoshit

Shan't buy. Let it flop

it flopped

good

Please play Old World. It's niche with it's specific time period and family system mashed into it but I think it's a great 4x.

Perfect the civic system in Civ 4

Somehow manage to fuck it up after every installment afterward

It is slightly better than the other Civ games. The only thing I will give it is at least it has some RP elements in it.

Not being able to visit other continents early is pretty traditional for Civ games, generally needing a specific tech to cross ocean tiles

umm it's not reviewbombing because it's just not!

It's been over since Civ 4, man.

I liked 6's civics tree even if it wasn't perfect. It felt like culture was something genuinely valuable to build towards

Oh yeah, it's good you're able to choose civic cards/bonuses depending on your government type.

Yeah, I just wish they had better balanced the different governments to make different paths more viable

Ermmmmm I'm not trans because... I'm just not okay!?

They had nearly 15 years to learn and improve.

Good news brother, they both learned and improved.

Just because lots of people have a negative opinion on something doesn't mean they're co-ordinated.

kek

Aren't you entirely locked out of exploration until the entire world enters the "age of exploration" or something?
Can't even rush exploration techs with this system

I think the politics have been shit after Civ 3 or 4 and this is quite big thing for a game where you're trying to lead a civiliation. Newer games don't allow one to properly make alliances.

I like the newer games for getting rid of stacks of doom, but most other things are just poopoo

Aren't you entirely locked out of exploration until the entire world enters the "age of exploration" or something?

Anon, the world is in lockstep with your actions.
The moment you reach the era goal, everyone switches and Age of Exploration begins.

Good, Civ3 was the peak anyways

Amazing how i'm winning and i don't have to do anything.

Wow it only took four entire entries of trash for Civfags to realize the series is ass there might be hope yet

empowers you

I hate this word being used everywhere. You read the 365 Office apps descriptions and it says shit like ‘Microsoft Teams empowers your staff to communicate and share’

Didn't they rip off some mechanic from another failed game that tried to copy Civilization? To copy a game that copies the one you are making seems rather funny to me.

Will this faggot apologize for blatantly shilling his viewer base a terrible game he himself stopped playing?

potato.jpg - 686x386, 36.47K

The moment you reach the era goal, everyone switches and Age of Exploration begins.

the shill campaign is over and now the bots are 'free' to have an opinion

wasn't he advised by Robin Williams to put his name in the title ?

The era switching thing they ripped straight out of that Civ clone

Civ 4 was peak

Last Civ that I played for hundreds of hours. Especially with the "Rise of Mankind" mod and "Caveman2Cosmos".

Worst civ imo

potato has not played since march

boesthius has not played since february

spiffing brit has not played since february

marbozir has not played since march

Fantastic game

The series has been degrading in quality since 5 which pushed more girlboss leaders and removed slavery.

Power fantasy for old Jews

Mike's such a faggot

anon the game is laughably terrible. after you play dozens to hundreds of games as a single civilization you can unlock the ability to build its unique unit. or you can pay money to unlock it automatically :). by the way you have to do this for each civ. including dlc civs even though you already paid money to buy them in the first place.

6 gorrillion dlcs will make it good antisemite!

after you play dozens to hundreds of games as a single civilization you can unlock the ability to build its unique unit. or you can pay money to unlock it automatically

no fucking way

The hexagon grid was an improvement.

Yep, and it's a complete reset. All momentum and progress is made pointless and redone in the new era. All civs are forced into this equal playing field just for the sake of casualizing the fuck out of multiplayer and making it extremely feelsgood handholding for women.

I liked Civ 6.

The worst part about this trailer isn't even the black woman, it's just the fact it has 0 comedic value

It also had peak Catherine.

Civ 4 with mods was the peak. Firaxis could have seen this and copied the good mod ideas and increased the art budget and they'd keep selling millions. Imagine if outfits changed per age. Would be neat

I bought the game a while ago out of sheer desperation for something to play. Already at the main menu I could feel things were off, and trying to play the game and not having things like auto-search for scouts among many other things just put me off from playing so I refunded it.

I enjoyed it too, but not as much as I did 3-4.

tfw

I could be ok with this if it was a game mode where you try to 'win' in as many of the eras as possible for an overall score, but not in the normal game.

Make the game infinitely more tedious to play

Each DLC adds to the tediousness

Nah man

reminder that civ 7 uses an anticheat that will ban you from your own single player game for using unlicensed mods or modifying game files.

Old World is my favorite modern 4X just by the virtue of having an actually competetive AI, because it's devs actually understood that 1UPT works if units have a lot of mobility and space to maneuver.

weird hill to die on but radicalized zoomies are not ones to be logical anyway

Caveman2Cosmos games can last for a ridicolously long time, but personally I feel like "Encyclopedia" is one of the worst world projects ever put in a Civ game/mod especially how early it can be built.
