Depends on what you want.
Rondo: it basically plays like a fancier version of the NES games, but is a lot easier overall; Richter is stronger than Simon or Trevor, and unlocking Maria is literally an easy mode, but generally it follows and evolves on all the hallmarks of the NES games to the point of homaging them directly; has routes that expand replayability for wholly different stages along the way
CV4: also a lot easier besides certain levels and the boss rush, but mostly because the multi-directional whipping renders some of the sub-items pointless and Simon is stupidly OP when you know how to use him, game focuses a lot more on ideas and gimmick challenge sections rather than strictly classic CV gameplay as a divergence of sorts, but still is linear stage-to-stage affairs
