Inferior remake of a good game that fixes none of the original's problems

Inferior remake of a good game that fixes none of the original's problems

Somehow controls even worse

Doesn't have the excuse of coming out in 1987 like Simon's Quest or being restricted by the Gameboy's limitations

So this has to be the worst of the Classicvanias next to Adventure right?

everyone who played this is in a nursing home now

I was trying to find a way to emulate the original rondo of blood today and just found this thread. How the fuck do you emulate rondo of blood? I dont wanna waste 20 dollars on the PS4 version especially since i already own SOTN and the psp remake looks ugly. Sucks wii VC is shut down

It's a good game but you faggots wouldn't get it

you're a gay retard if you can't figure out the obvious solution to this problem.

i can emulate most shit but rondo of blood was the fucking turbo. I dont want to play the shitty SNES and gameboy version

how the fuck do you find the emulation when it was on the turbo

I have a hint, it's calling "google" and the phrase "PC Engine CD emulation" hope this helps!

Are you indian

yes saar how do i redeem saar

You're better off with the Wii Virtual Console version.

okay how the fuck do i emulate a wii virtual console game?

If you hate Dracula X, you never really liked classicvanias in the first place. You are one of those shitters who prefer the boring igavanias.

anon if you've emulated PS1 games before then this shouldn't be hard, it's the same shit but with a PC Engine CD compatible emulator

file.png - 602x49, 7.41K

Sorry, I only play real Castlevanias on Original Mode

file.jpg - 317x314, 32.06K

yeah but what core do i use to emulate the japanese version? Where do i find it?

Now that is truly a worse version of pic related.

isn't original a 1:1 port while arranged was the toned down "new" version

What's crazy is I've seen people prefer some tracks of this version over Rondo's

If you hate feces, you never liked cake in the first place

I don't think I follow that logic

I don't like getting my dick repeatedly kicked. Fuck OG Chronicles.

See thats a misconception. It's not a 1:1 port. The CV x68000's MT-32 version of the soundtrack is so much better than the SC-55 version which is used in the original mode of chronicles. They botched the sound really hard in chronicles. It's like playing the US version instead of CV3 instead of the JP version.

Also I am unsure whether the secrets of x68000 were ported to chronicles like the room which changes background based on which day of the year you're playing the game and also the 7 loops of increasing difficulties with the last 2 loops being excruciatingly painful.

shit analogy

good morning sir

Good morning, sir.

You can actually use the MT-32 soundtrack in Chronicles, you just need to hold L1 and R1 when selecting Original or Arrange.

it's not a remake it's just a copium game for people that couldn't get a pc engine cd

are you 12 years old? genuinely asking

ohhhh that was the one thing that made me not want to finish chronicles. I'll play it and then list out the other differences between x68000 and this in the next thread. I love x68k so much.

It's fine. It's basically just a challenge mode rom hack of the original. The controls are the fuckin' same.

I unironically have a suspicious rondo of blood.exe file of this game from Anon Babble that I used to beat the whole thing years ago. I think it's just an embedded emulator or something.

Fuck off to your roblox thread kid.

Should i play Rondo of Blood first or 4? I've already played 1-3

CV4, bloodlines, Dracula X and then Rondo. Rondo is the pinnacle of classicvanias so it is only prudent to save it for the last.

Not a great comparison, I like some US CV3 tracks better. Expanded sound doesnt necessarily equal strictly better, I like the way some tracks sound with the limitations they were working with. Just like how I don't like some famitracker remixes on youtube because they have like 10+ expansions on top.

Depends on what you want.

Rondo: it basically plays like a fancier version of the NES games, but is a lot easier overall; Richter is stronger than Simon or Trevor, and unlocking Maria is literally an easy mode, but generally it follows and evolves on all the hallmarks of the NES games to the point of homaging them directly; has routes that expand replayability for wholly different stages along the way

CV4: also a lot easier besides certain levels and the boss rush, but mostly because the multi-directional whipping renders some of the sub-items pointless and Simon is stupidly OP when you know how to use him, game focuses a lot more on ideas and gimmick challenge sections rather than strictly classic CV gameplay as a divergence of sorts, but still is linear stage-to-stage affairs

Anon, it's okay until the final Dracula fight. That fight is legitimately bullshit. They might as well take away the health bar because one hit means you die thanks to it all being platforms.

I would go rondo first because cv4 is like a big deviation from 1-3 with the free jump arcs and shit while rondo feels like a true sequel to the nes games.

protip: if you know you're gonna take a hit, crouch; you don't suffer knockback while crouching, and that stupid quirk is how you're expected to survive the fucking fight if you don't have perfect evasion

Just play them in release order. CV4 => Rondo => Bloodlines.

Play Chronicles if you want your teeth kicked in and play Dracula X SNES if you're really bored.

Genuinely curious, can you post the US tracks which you think are superior to JP tracks in your opinion?

Dracula X does have one thing over Rondo and exactly one thing
youtube.com/watch?v=SzrvBANyArs
The tracks have better mixing, especially the guitar in the opening track.

Yeah, I ended up figuring that out. I beat the game overall, no save states or anything, but god that final fight just soured the whole game for me.

Minus the pitfalls, I'd say Death is worse because Dracula's patterns are easy but Death's retarded scythe jump can just track you and doesn't follow any logic.

That version of the track doesn't have a guitar.

This is literally the game that made me hate classicvanias, I actually hated the series as a whole before trying SOTN and liking it a lot, I still dislike classicvanias tho

TRVKE. I mean if Dracula X had released before Rondo, no one would have hated it.

Whatever that twangy sounding instrument sample is from. It's nearly inaudible in Rondo.

Emulate the PSP version

That's called a slap bass. It's not used in the original CD version because that version has way more layers of rhythm sections and other accompaniment.

youtube.com/watch?v=XoGCokTDSyA

Mednafen is not that fucking hard to use.

I'm not gonna go through the entire soundtrack so here's one example:
youtu.be/luxL5ufVTZM?si=N_OpTDcL1clWVAlI&t=27
youtu.be/9VVGlQDF42g?si=f6PmvuhB2koRaleO&t=27
I like the reverby bloop in the US version and that doesn't exist in JP
Also I don't like some of the "instruments" used in JP like the sawtooth channel though that might be the purist in me talking. But that goes to show it's impossible for it to be an OBJECTIVE improvement.

Castlevania should have never went full retard mode into the metroidvania genre. It soiled the identity of the series and resulted in its demise. There I said it.

If you hate what is arguably the single worst and cheapest asset flip in the classic series you hate classicvanias

Nah, fuck you AND the Night

It's not as good as the one it's taking inspiration from. But it's still not as bad as half the IGA games.

I like them both better than Legends.

I don't understand the hate for this game. It's not as good as Rondo, but it's still a solid CV game.

asset flip

you don't know what you're talking about so shut the fuck up.

I don't understand the hate for this game

The level design is obnoxious and boring, feels like a bad romhack.

Not for lack of trying, they tried to make SOMETHING stick and eventually they just landed on metroidvanias. Did they ever have their megaman x moment with the classicvania formula? I don't know how much 4 and rondo sold

Isn't Dracula X redundant since Rondo exists?
I've already decided i will play all the games and i know starting from SotN it's all metroidvanias so gameplay changes are not very important to me, i'm ready
I think i will play 4>Bloodlines>Rondo based on the game's graphics. Thanks for the input

4 was a launch title for SNES you can imagine how well it sold. Rondo was niche since turbografx was jp only. The most sold title still remained CV1 though until lords of shadows.

Dracula X redundant

No. Don't fall for the retards mouthing off here. They are totally different games with different level design, control schemes, soundtracks, etc. If you really like ball busting classicvanias then it is for you else you can consider skipping it.

It's a step backwards from the games that came before. Not just graphically but in level design. And it's because they had a side team do it quickly and underfunded by Konami management. It was impossible for them to completely port the game. But Konami really gimped its development with a shorter budget and time period than most Castlevania games.

If it had been given time and budget, they could have made something on the level of Castlevania 4, but with Rondo's art style. What we got was a game that looks like Castlevania III in art style and how Richter controls. Castlevania III being a game ahead of its time on the Famicom. But wouldn't fly on the Super Famicom. On top of that, it had some bugs. And they didn't even add in Maria or some of the extra levels.

Like Castlevania III in how Richter controls

That's an insult to 3

Imagine being this fucken stupid.

remake

It's a port, nigger.

What we got was a game that looks like Castlevania III in art style

I wonder where such retarded posters even come from.

Nah, even at its worst, DX is still better than the NES titles. At the very least, you have your trusty backflip, moon walk, and the ability to jump onto staircases.

you can't port games between consoles having different instruction sets and architectures, dumb fuck.

Honestly, Dracula X actually looks really fucking good by SNES standards, it's just got compromises in weird bits here or there. I'd say that besides compromising on content by no playable Maria, its biggest problem really is obscene level design and challenge, and otherwise if you're up for the dickery it's fine enough.

Has anyone at least attempted to port Rondo's levels into Dracula X?

lol that doesn't looked CV3 at all.

There's no level hacks as far as I know besides removing pits from Dracula's arena, so I don't think anyone's interested enough to try.

boomer ahh game

If Castlevania III had been on the SNES, it could have looked like this. But the bigger thing is that Dracula X has sprites and movement closer to the NES titles than the game it is trying to "port." And the SNES game could have taken on a style closer to Castlevania 4 or Rondo. Even if it couldn't have sprites as detailed as Rondo, it could have gotten closer.

Someone tell me a Castlevania to play right now

Why are tendies like this?

the PSP remake comes with the original Rondo of Blood if you get a completed save for it, right?

Yes. But he's just coming up with excuses not to play it.

yeah, it's retranslated with the new VAs from Dracula X Chronicles over top if I remember right so that's all down to one's preference. same thing happened with the SotN port on there too.

It's just flat out worse than Super Castlevania.

The original on NES or Aria of Sorrow

Go play Bloodstained Circle of the Moon

Why not play the PSP version?
What does the SNES version have?

It's basically a different game scrapped together from RoB assets that vaguely follows a loose guide of its big brother while also doing its own thing. Kind of like Mega Man & Bass to Mega Man 8, except without the extra playable character.

anyone defending the way you get the real ending in this game is a retard

Buy Castlevania Collection, Advance Collection and Rondo collection. And play them all. All of them are good except Adventure.

That shit was fun, classic Castlevania until you get to bosses where they’re batshit hard for no reason

Who made the game

Inti Creates, aka Gal*Gun/Gal Guardians, Azure Striker Gunvolt/Luminous Avenger iX, Dragon Marked for Death, Card-en-Ciel, Blaster Master Zero and the Mega Man Zero/ZX developers. They're hit or miss per game, but when they strike good, they strike hard.

megaman zero

Of course, I literally got filtered by the first boss
Did they forget gameboy asvances were for kids??

Honestly for SNES standards it's very fancy despite how budgeted it looks. Helps that the game had some good original background pixel art.

ruined the SotN port with shitty new voices and shitty new translation

don't remind me of that travesty. Still pissed they went back years later to the 360 port and removed I Am The Wind from the credits.

Just use mednafen, get BIOSes, drag and drop cue sheet onto mednafen and the game will run. Enjoy. Find most of this shit on myrient.

That first screenshot still cracks me up.

I played Rondo on my SNES Classic. Was great.

Based

I emulate it on a CRT @ 240p, via lossless RGB (component transcoder). I also use a Sega Saturn controller. It's absolutely fantastic.
