Square: Its the basics, not much needs to be said.
Pokemon loop: You capture and tame monsters to catalogue them all as the main goal of the game and complete challenge fights and face off the region's elite to beat the game.
Persona loop: You capture and tame monsters and fuse them to grow stronger to capture and fuse more monsters while exploring deadly dungeons.
Really that simple to make addicting gameplay loops.

Game has a solid prologue and and interesting enough hook, at least for me. The first act was fine up until Robert Pattinson anhero'd. Then the story went full retard and did a hard pivot into being a family telenovela. I appreciate the combat system allowing you to negate all damage altogether if you know how to press the right button at the right time (instead of eating all the damage like a good cuck like in other jarpigs unless the game randomly decides the characters can dodge sometimes) but it's not enough to carry the game for me. Still got all the cheevos though.
