Magic: The Gathering Arena is a video game released in 2018 and it's getting an update with Final Fantasy cards in little over a week. I believe all (or nearly all minus one or two) cards have been previewed now, and I will be posting them.
Magic: Final Fantasy Gathering Arena Full Set
First up, Final Fantasy I
Didn't end up getting any legendary creatures besides Garland/Chaos, but it got a lot of the job types.
thiefs knife is just a way worse Curiosity
2 gets a last push here with a bunch of generic cards and surprisingly, another legendary to go with Firion and The Emperor of Paramecia. Ended up gathering more respect than I expected.
3 gets a small last bit, but it definitely got a lot for an early game with all the crystals.
Random Encounter is cool
Final Fantasy V... *Ahem* HE'S IN!
VI doesn't get much now to end, but it already got a million cards, so it's no surprise
based
Buy an ad you retarded hasbro cuck kill yourself
VII, on the other hand, gets a trillion cards even though it already had a trillion. I'm guessing this is the game that ended up being the most represented in the set, with only one other potential option overtaking it.
green haired terra
blonde terra fags in disbelief
VIII
I like Memories Returning
Not much from IX, unfortunately. Looks like they blew their load in the previews last week for this game. Excalibur is neat.
X
XI just gets a bunch more cards to round out the set and balance it in power level. I wouldn't be surprised if any of these cards weren't particularly representative of what they're cards of. It got the short end of the stick.
And here's the one that pisses me off the most.
Final Fantasy 12 got a total of TEN cards representing it. It got cucked hard.
Cloudbros... We made it...
XIII
KWAB
Gotta have space for the MMO :^)
And 14 gets a trillion more cards as well. The game that ended up being represented the most was either this or 7. No comment.
Translation for that last one:
Venat, Lady of the Light
Legendary Creature — Elder Wizard
Whenever you cast a legendary spell, draw a card. This ability triggers only once each turn.
The Sundering — {7}, {T}: Exile target nonland permanent. Transform Venat. Activate only as a sorcery.
///
Hydaelyn, Mothercrystal
Legendary Creature — God
Indestructible
Blessing of Light — At the beginning of combat on your turn, put a +1/+1 counter on another target creature you control. Until your next turn, that creature gains indestructible. If it is legendary, draw a card.
XV gets some more cards, but they seem worthless aside from maybe Magitek Infantry
And XVI gets one last card. Definitely a case of quality over quantity for this one. This game also only got 10 cards, but the vast majority of them are very strong and flashy. There may be a few cards left to spoil, but it's less than 5 at most. For all intents and purposes, these are all the cards that are making it on Arena.
She's not like that
double-sided legendary enchantment saga dragon creature
i wish someone would euthanize mtg
No Auron
No Basch
No Amarant
cringe, im afraid
how is that they didn't blacked any character like with the LOTR set?
japan isn't cucked like the tolkien family
I think the Tolkien Estate must have had something to do with it. Consider also all the LOTR related media released lately.
Its finally over for M:tG. Nobody is playing their Modern Trannified Game.
They may have pushed restoration magic enough that it is actually playable
Matsuno is being snubbed all over again
Does FFT get anything?
she is pure and innocent
cope
No, only mainline games. They didn't even have space for those 16.
If they could've, they absolutely would've cut a couple mainline games for more 7 and 14. Tactics never stood a fucking chance.
Associating jobs with FFXIV is dumb as fuck, stop
This set sold a ton already and it's not even out yet. Maybe there will be a sequel set and they will throw FFT a bone or two there.
No as it's a spinoff
everything after 10 were spinoffs
14 is a great game anon
just avoid the local threads on it
Gay Bahamut is here to go alongside gay Bolas
FFXIVchads own this shit
Have they shown any Yoshida characters for III?
Nah this is all we get
Not even an onion knight class card. damn what a shame
Anyone else forcing themselves to get into MtG just to support the FF brand?
Thankfully, I am not a FFXIV player. I will not be a paypig for a company I despise. Two companies even, in this instance.
what makes you think you need to play with the cards to buy them?
Battle Menu shows 4 people fighting Humbaba, including normal Terra
except in the 4 battles against it, you used in this order:
terra only
four non-terra members, twice
2 of those 4 not ejected from the battle, and trance terra
boy I sure hope somebody got fired for this blunder
there's more mobs with that model that just humbaba
Alright, I did the count now. Again, there might be two or three cards missing, but assuming these are all of them:
Final Fantasy I: 12 cards. Among them, 1 Legendary Creature (Garland/Chaos)
Final Fantasy II: 9 cards. Among them, 3 Legendary Creatures (Minwu, Firion, The Emperor of Palamecia/The Lord Master of Hell)
Final Fantasy III: 10 cards. Among them, 1 Legendary Creature (Cloud of Darkness)
Final Fantasy IV: 11 cards. Among them, 5 Legendary Creatures (Cecil, Kain, Giott, Golbez, Tellah)
Final Fantasy V: 15 cards. Among them, 3 Legendary Creatures (Gilgamesh, Bartz and Boko, Exdeath)
Final Fantasy VI: 25 cards. Among them, 6 Legendary Creatures (Edgar, Gogo, Ultros, Kefka, Locke Cole, Terra)
Final Fantasy VII: 38 cards. Among them, 10 Legendary Creatures (Aerith, Cloud, Zack Fair, Reno and Rude, Sephiroth, Vincent Valentine, Barret Wallace, Tifa Lockhart, Jenova, Rufus Shinra)
No I'm just buying them to support FF, I don't plan to use them
Final Fantasy VIII: 19 cards. Among them, 6 Legendary Creatures (Quistis Trepe, Seifer Almasy, Zell Dincht, Rinoa Heartilly, Squall, Ultimecia)
Final Fantasy IX: 24 cards. Among them, 11 Legendary Creatures, did not realize this got more Legendary Creature than VII, damn. (Adelbert Steiner, Stiltzkin, Freya Crescent, Queen Brahne, Quina, Black Waltz No. 3, Choco, Garnet, Kuja, Vivi Ornitier, Zidane)
Final Fantasy X: 20 cards. Among them, 4 Legendary Creatures (Jecht, Sin, Tidus, Yuna)
Final Fantasy XI: 11 cards (Heh). Among them, 2 Legendary Creatures (Absolute Virtue, Shantotto)
Final Fantasy XII: 10 cards. Somehow less than XI. Among them, 5 Legendary Creatures (Ashe, Yiazmat, Vaan, Balthier and Fran, Judge Magister Gabranth)
Final Fantasy XIII: 14 cards. Among them, 7 Legendary Creatures (Snow Villiers, Fang, Sazh Katzroy, Vanille, Hope Estheim, Lightning, Serah Farron. And as a bonus eight legendary creature, Fang and Vanille can create Ragnarok)
Final Fantasy XIV: 42 cards. Among them, 12 Legendary Creatures (G'raha Tia, Venat/Hydaelyn, Matoya, Y'shtola, Gaius van Baelsar, Zenos yae Galvus/Shinryu, Zodiark, Raubahn, Emet-Selch/Hades, Omega, The Wandering Minstrel)
Final Fantasy XV: 19 cards. Among them, 5 Legendary Creatures (Ardyn, Prompto Argentum, Gladiolus Amicitia, Ignis Scientia, Noctis)
Final Fantasy XVI: 10 cards. Among them, 7 Legendary Creatures (Ultima, Ambrosia Whiteheart, Dion/Bahamut, Jill/Shiva, Clive/Ifrit, Torgal, Joshua/Phoenix)
And then there's also Cid, who has a version for every FF except I.
cuz there's no FF1 Cid. the Dissidia one doesn't count
That's the game where your equipped weapon determines your job, it fits the most
Yeah, was just being thorough. Didn't want to count him for each game other than FF1
14 xisters are the easiest pigs to milk so of course they get pandered to the hardest
XIII having more than XII is cringe
IV and XII being among the games with the lowest amount of cards is pretty messed up.
The most interesting games to see in cards would have been the first 6 because those are the ones that have the least art about them.
just play eternal card game instead
campaign
PvE gauntlet mode
multiplayer casual or ranked
draft against AI or other players
monthly draft tournament
incredibly generous f2p model
pinnacle of digital-only CCGs
I guess 9 got some love because it's the anniversary, but kind of shit that Brahne got a card but Amarant didn't.
Why the fuck are they missing party members from half the games? I get FF1 being represented by equipment and FF3 just getting a generic "Warriors of Light" card. But FF2 only has 2 party members, and is missing 2 of the ones you get for the full game. FFIV has Tellah and Cecil, missing everyone else. FFV has Bartz and only Bartz. FFVIII has Quists and Squall and Rinoa. FFIX is missing Eiko and Amarant. FFXII is missing Basch and Penello and had two others share a card.
Yet FFXIV seems to have half the set AND a commander deck. Not only that but they choose extra FFXIV representation by using the FFXIV version of things like the Demon wall.
FFIV has Tellah and Cecil, missing everyone else
lmao you dumb
Where are the rest of them?
he hasn't seen rosa kain, edward, Rydfa, or palom and porm
lol lmaoing at you. shame they didn't give one to the ninja though.
im a magiclet, how does cactuar's ability work?
which one?
Memeander doesn't count
I didn't count Kain. Maybe it's been too long but I remembered him being more of an antagonist than a party member.
Feel free to post the rest since clearly missed them as well.
Turn 1, you put Cactuar down, you have a 3/3. It can't attack cause it doesn't have haste.
Turn 2, you can attack with Cactuar, they won't have anything that can kill it. Even if they have something to block it, Cactuar has trample, so it kills the blocker and whatever excess damage is left goes against the player.
End of turn 2, Cactuar runs away back to your hand. So you gotta play it turn 3 and can only attack again turn 4. By then a 3/3 will not be impressive.
He's counting the commander cards. That format is fake and also not even in MTG Arena.
that sucks, could there be a potential purpose for having a bigger hand by that point
check thread to see if exdeath is in
he's in
I can now leave this thread
There's also a couple starter deck cards. Rosa, for example, and also an extra Cloud and Sephiroth, But those cards are so dogshit they shouldn't even count desu senpai
Best case scenario for the card I can think of is cards that benefit from other creatures entering. So you just keep getting a 1 mana trigger off of it every other turn.
There's a card that draws a card every time a creature enters, for example.
FFXIV version of things
FFXIV original or FFXIV recycling models from other FFs?
Would work well with this, for a standard example. Turns out it's also good for leaving, not just entering.
But without combos, obviously it just sucks.
No tactics advanced
No fucks given.
It really reminds me of a card in a game I made.Though mine was a little stronger as the bounce triggered by attacking.
Lmao yeah it does. Who do you think this is advertised primarily to?
Are some of these AI generated? Choco/Mog and Fat Chocobo look especially shite.
any standout draft commons to look at?
YoshiP's self insert got a card
lol
Benis
best girl is rep of her game, and her game has the most cards
Square is one of the companies in Japan most affected by progressivism, I guess they just aren't quite far gone enough yet to race swap their old characters.
I think a lot of the issue might be with the creatives rather than the executives though, specifically Yoshi P became a progressive just in time for the writing of the XIV expansion set in a continent based on the americas, they couldn't very well have the protagonist be the big important hero that would be a white savior narrative, so instead all the focus gets put on a new character that constantly upstages the player character and gets undeserved combat power boosts heaped upon her
