ok this is pretty kino. now I know why boomers jerk off the slower paced arpg’s so much
Ok this is pretty kino. now I know why boomers jerk off the slower paced arpg’s so much
its pretty good up until you get to hell difficulty. beyond that its just a tedious slog where you cant damage half the enemies in the game.
pretty much every character has an option to deal with immunity. only real issue is if you get unlucky with a dual immunity
its still a terrible design
what's the alternative, 400 million hp like in diablo 3 and 4?
this if you play solo. the difference between the hardest bosses in nightmare (baal/cow/chaos) compared to hell a1 is enourmous and you absolutely need close to 75 all res to progress. at least i do.
if you know what you're doing hell is the only fun part
fun game
more engaging mechanics? how is the choice "this unit is immune to an entire school of damage OR has 4 million hp!"
arpg players are the dumbest people on earth
there is a character for retards like you. play a hammerdin
Climbing up through the 16 Torment difficulties and infinite rifts was kino though.
But Hell is the best part.
Nothing beats the dopamine rush you get from a good item dropping.
And don't even get me started on opening some random chest on your way only to find a high rune .
but I don't wanna be a nigga. why are paladins in arpgs always black anyway?
Played it for the first time two years ago and it was kino the whole way through. Boomers were right all along, games were better back in the day
do this same area over and over opening the same chests then quitting and loading again to get the item
you only had to repeat this task for 19 hours to get the item you wanted? wow lucky!
You gotta be a special kind of retarded faggot to enjoy these games
what's with the insults you fucking freak little cretin? diablo 2 is 25 years old, sorry they didn't invent every single video game mechanic at once and only pioneered 75% of what made ARPGs great.
there must always be a token negro
Actually didn't resurrected specifically fix the paladin bypassing magic damage immunity? I thought I read that once but it's not really something I've kept up with.
even though every single play for 2 decades follows hammerdins around for baal farms etc, you're actually retarded if you play one! just engage in the mechanics that disable your abilities until you get the things that avoid it! How do you get those things? well join a baal farm ofc!
retard. why are dumb arpg tards incapable of admitting bad design from some dude high on coke in 1999 lol
black people become law abiding taxpayers who do no wrong and help the community
White people fantasy.
Hell is where you see if you actually made a character properly and your reward is getting the best gear in the game to jerk off your character with.
It also validates the gear you grind in Nightmare.
what's with the insults you freak little cretin?
?????
diablo 2 is le old! therefore, bad design is actually okay!
we can acknowledge the god father of arpgs also had retarded designs you know? its not like its the fkin bible and i'm spewing blasphemy
more engaging mechanics?
such as? That's as much of a non-answer. You might as well just say
by making it not shit duh
If you don't enjoy doing the same thing over and over again, you don't enjoy playing video games.
but I play for the story
Exactly, fag.
Making it to hell in Diablo 2 is proof that virginity is your greatest weapon
I love how midwits like you get filtered hard then seethe because it flares up your insecurities.
Yeah you have to be a real hardcore gamer to reach hell in Diablo 2
now I know why boomers jerk off the slower paced arpg’s so much
You never played diablo 2
It was literally arpg with fastest combat where you just run into army of demons and pray that they won't use iron maiden
bbbbut i'm underage
Yes, we know
immunities are fine and don't block you from finishing the game if you are able to adapt. even more so now that respecs were added. you can't focus on a single element type and steamroll through the whole game with no issues like every other arpg.
any character can finish hell without needing to follow a hammerdin around for baal farms. baal farms were just there to speed up leveling and hammerdin was best because of the scaling with player count.
Getting to the Hell level? No. Beating the game on Hell Difficulty? Yes. Absolutely.
just do 5000 LK runs bro!
It's a knowledge check more than anything else. To be fair, you have to understand that this was changed from it being way more gentle, but they wanted to make it more difficult because players were coasting through the game previously. It's entirely true that hell mode is where your poor choices stack up and matter, but it's pretty reasonably mitigated by knowledge of how to easily get what you need to be serviceable.
Imagine all of that but without the ability to respec.
Pretty much everyone agrees that LK runs and runewords have issues. Just think, LK runs used to not be a thing and runes had a much lower chance of dropping. The good news is you don't need anything actually rare to play and beat the game. A lot of the fun is that middle point where you are a broke ass far enough to start hunting for the good shit. Solo self-found is addicting if you are willing to learn itemization and not just go for runewords/unique cookie cutter stuff. Even blues can be great in LoD.
????
you're a zoomer newfag aren't you?
Hammerdins were never good because of scaling. They are good because magic damage is rare and basically nothing resists or is immune to it. It also helps that paladins are tanky and even 1 point into redemption means you don't need insight. They are a cheap-ass build that can hit up nearly any area of the game with ease. They don't scale well at higher difficulties though. Same deal with orb/firewall or hydra sorcs. Do amazing in p1 and can clear all content, but they fall off in scaling.
I’m overburdened simulator
Yeah man that takes serious gamer skill.
for me its pd2
immunity isn't an engaging a mechanic. It's just a mechanic until it isn't, when you've found a way to complete ignore it. Then, it's just back to mowing down legions of dudes. Resistances, more hp, and temporary invulnerabilities are the 'fix' in terms of prolonging the game to slow the character down, which are okay if that's how the developers want to slow the game down. Other engaging mechanics that slow the game down are death effects, immunities granted by a single mob to a pack (which again, is only actually a mechanic if you can't bypass immunity), damage reflections, more danger zones that kill the player so they need to be more cognizant of where they stand - as examples.
All that said, d2 is a simple game with simple mechanics and i respect they won't try to solve it nor are my supposed solutions even really good solutions, because it's a simple genre at it's core, where the power fantasy is blowing up the entire screen at once and avoiding every creature mechanic anyways. So although I think it's a retarded mechanic, i don't think d2 needs to 'solve' it, it's already solved through their itemization and just putting one point in fireball in a non-immunity or playing someone who doesn't care about immunities.
Anime reaction pic and bragging about how easy Diablo 2 is for him
Virginity has been your weapon for some time it seems
You pretty much can focus on a single element, though, because you only need minimal investment to kill the occassional frost immune mob when you're doing a bliz sorc for example. you don't need to respec your entire build, you need like 2 points in spark / chain lightning. Or even just run past the mobs with teleport, let the mercenary handle them when stunned via fireball, etc.
Unrionically D3 and D4 have the best "Endgame" of all clickers and it amazes me to say it but it's because it's pure numbers wank at that point which is incredibly easy to put down if you're satisfied and an infinite pointless grind for as long as you want it. Doing seasonal shit/obducite farming/leveling up skills to the point you instagib the "Big bosses" is still more fun than running maps and doing timeline shit, and it's one weak point of Diablo 2 because farming the same boss over and over to grind for gear takes too long. What you've gotta do is mod D2 to expand your stash and your inventory because you're playing it solo and they're a good convenience. Then you increase the drop rates, a light touch does better but the point is you want loot to drop often enough that you can hopefully keep yourself geared with zero grinding through normal/nightmare/hell. Then play with /players 3 at least and then D2 is absolutely perfect
double spaced
you're a reddit fag aren't you?
oh come on, the farming phase is a chore, ofc it's going to filter a lot of people
bragging
Yeah that's definitely what I'm doing. Diablo II is seriously hardcore.
You don’t need to grind to beat the game. Then put it down. Or don’t.
The farming "phase" is the game.
play another arpg
Yeah. Those hammerdins that did those types of runs were usually decked out in high rune words and the best of charms, too. Any character can do it when they're decked out like that. That is what gave them the advantage over scaling rather than just being a hammerdin although the lack of resists still help.
True. I've always liked killing everything so I try to stick to stuff that can do that, but if you don't mind running by immune monsters you can clear it single element.
It is. You're such a virgin you don't even realize it
For many people it is, but it does not have to be. PVP and exploring or running builds appeals to a lot of people. Part of the fun for me is experimenting with builds based on what my other characters find so that I play a twinked build with no rushes. Poisonmancer and kicksin are two of the most fun builds as they require create usage of skills/equipment while getting to endgame.
I just recently killed Baal on hell and everything was fun to that point. But now reading I need to Jill him over 5000 times in a row to reach max level is just nope. Did boomers really?
I’m not running one level 5000 times in a row thats just absurd.
NM A4 random Chaos mob drops a Titan's Revenge for my SSF Javazon
Not even a boss mob. Fucking beautiful.
killing Baal to level
No they didn't actually.
no they would be insane to nerf hammerdins
they did introduce new immunity breaking charms though so the rest of the crew can keep up on a budget
No excuse for this game to have a fucking sprint bar
b-but you have to time when to go fast so you can dodge
No lol if you’re dodging it means you aren’t dpsing fast enough so any point you make about skill is invalidated immediately
yeah, after killing baal I went to farm mephisto but in the end it was a chore
what?
GREAT argument
Why are you jeets trying to trick ppl into buying this demake again
You're gonna make it bros
you're probably thinking of the last non-resurrected patch where they fixed bypassing magic immunities of the second minion phase in baals throne room
Name the last ten games you bought.
pretty much every character has an option to deal with immunity.
buying a consumable wand that costs a lot of gold to recharge isnt great though and its just a pain in the ass.
every time i pick D2 back up it just turns into "well fuck guess I'm making yet another Summon Necro" after 50-100 hours.
I don't know why people have been getting filtered by immunities for so fucking long. You just ignore shit you can't kill rather than fuck up your build so you can kill random shit that doesn't matter. It's always insane how many people went for a gimped Meteorb / CLorb sorc instead of the far superior and more effective pure Blizzard build, especially as a fucking sorceress who can just teleport past everything anyway.
d2r introduces immunity breaking charms that are pretty common
for example theres a lightning sundering charm that gives both the player and nearby monsters a -80% lightning resist
its a double edged sword but gives low budget characters a way to progress through hell
Runewords ruined D2.
not Eth
Still a good drop, grats bro
d2r introduces immunity breaking charms that are pretty common
I still play modded vanilla cuz Blizzard are too gay to add the 40x spawn rate option to their game.
Once you play the Shitfest mod you cant go back to the normal game. Not enough enemies.
oh ok you're a retard
that's not quite how sunder charms work
first check is seeing if a monster is immune - and if so, no damage goes through. You can use LR/conviction to try to break the immunity, but it only applies at 1/5th effectiveness.
After that, if it's still immune to an element, the sunder charm reduces their resistance to 95%. After that, if your character has "reduces enemy resistance by x" (most notably cold mastery, also some items like Griffon's Eye), it's applied at 1/5th effectiveness, similar to how lower resist and conviction will only work at 1/5th power to break immunities.
sunder charm doesn't actually lower resist, just puts that 95% cap in at one stage of the check
Ssf yes otherwise no
Hell yeah, OP. I'm glad you see what we love about this game.
Have you played much of the game with the original graphics? I'm obviously biased, but I think the art direction in the original game was a bit better.
Slower pace and clear visual readability were some of the things that made it so fucking good. PoE chasing that speedclear shit was a mistake.
It was ass.
There was a tiny bit of cool in there when there was only 6 torments and you had to properly gear up to have any shot at t6. Problem back then was poor build variety and high reliance on extremely rare items.
D3 team took an ass backwards approach to design by trying to fix poor numbers and mechanics on skills by giving them ridiculous item bonuses. They never went back to fix a bunch of skills and runes that were simply shit.
it all makes sense now
it's the hope that religion will save savage niggers and civilize them but turns out it is a mere fantasy
talking about muh reddit spacing like it's an ebin own
he's right you are new, it's only the zoomies who say this
has it ever occurred to you why actual oldfags don't call out space posting? think about it
I need help anons. For the first time in my life I've stuck with a character in D2, a blizzard sorceress. I've beaten Nightmare, but A1 Hell is already giving me problems. I thought I'd at least be able to deal with the 1st quest, but immunity to cold really screwed me over and my bodyguard can't even handle the basic zombies on his own.
What do I do?
PoE is much better
Level up some more on nightmare. Make cheap runewords to improve your gear if you haven't yet. Of course as a sorc you can always teleport past the immunes.
Because you're a new fag pretending? No one but newfags feel the need to constantly remind everyone that they've been here longer than anyone else. its either that or you are an old fag, but you've decided your self worth is decided by how many people you call newfag like some candy ass roody poo, who knows.
doesnt even touch d2
back to your chink wet market
lol
you're right
seethe more but also, it's not a surprise that there's a better game than d2, it's old as fuck. It's great, it's a good game, but it is not without it's dated shitty flaws
poe hasnt been good for years
Of course as a sorc you can always teleport past the immunes.
So that's the strategy now? I'm expected to just run away now? I guess if I can't hurt the enemy I have no other choice. It's either that or use 1 of my skill tree re-rolls to dual class, but that'd undoubtedly weaken my Blizzard skill quite a bit.
You don't have to kill everything and can break immunities later on if your merc can't handle it
i tried probably 50 times to play this game from release to 2017? and always got burnt out before the end. i've only "beaten" it once on a paladin and the coop aspect is the only reason i kept playing.
it's fine
How do I break immunities? As for the leveling up more you mentioned, I have been. I thought 66 or 67 was the level one is meant to start A1Hell at. I feel like I'm probably past due for a new weapon too, but it's been working out for me well up to this point and I haven't really found anything better.
constantly remind everyone that they've been here longer than anyone else
it's fine for you to hall monitor and claim cachet by calling out "reddit spacing" but anon is wrong for doing the same. fuck off lmao. you're also doing the same thing yet again by posting "roody poo" as an effort to signal poster cred. you have no self-awareness
i know you're a zoomie u dumb cunt, stop trying to save face. this was never a thing to oldfags
If D2R had PoE stash tabs i'd never touch PoE desu
If you are Offline you can add a command line prompt to give you infinite rerolls
D2R has Sunder Charms to break 100% immunes, and you can get Infinity on your merc lategame as well.
It's fine to just walk past things you can't kill until you and your Merc are up to it.
dude, it gets good, trust me
you just have to beat it twice and then fight the same enemies thousands of times for ultra-rare drops on the third playthrough
the original gachaslop
You know it has a single player mode right?
Does anybody say D2 only gets good at Hell?
Endgame and rune farming is the least interesting point in a playthrough.
yes
here's some just from the replies to the first post in this thread
Well they're dumb.
I watched my first D2 video the other day. Just some short one but Sunder Charms came up. Have no idea how to get those though. D2 does seem to be about just farming the bosses over and over again.
I'm not sure about resurrected tho. Disco ball Assassin is so op it made any other PvM build unusable.
bullet-heaven games are easier on the wrists. i'm tired of the clickclickclicking.
playing grinding game not to grind
Do you also hate the parts in FPS' where you use guns?
here bro just play this game where every design decision revolves around trading, but without trading hehe
cope
it got ruined years ago
tranny game from tranny devs
infinity isn't realistic for 99% of the playerbase
sunder charms start dropping at a point where he needs to have figured out the problems he's currently facing
for runewords you could look into
spirit on a 4 socket sword, usually crystal sword or broad sword as those have lowest requirements (later on a shield as well if you find a 4 socket monarch)
lore on 2 socket helmet
stealth or smoke on 2 socket armor
ancient's pledge on 3 socket shield
or rhyme on 2 socket shield
blizzard sorc is sort of a build where you do want to teleport past cold immunes
They're a nice change of pace but also a very different type of game. I was a bit disappointed in HoT level upgrades as they're all sort of +10% to x instead of being something more interesting. Peak of the genre for me so far have been Deep Rock Galactic Survivors and NIMRODS.
I don't care as long as the game plays well. This is Anon Babble you tourist.
Lmao literal skill issue
the only arpg i ever actually liked was d2
and yeah, hell is bullshit. i enjoy plowing through it with specific builds and shit but i can admit it was overtuned for single player, especially absent respecs. it's the kind of shit where you really needed a guide to get through it and imo if something is so difficult it requires outside material to progress on, it's overtuned.
adding respecs much later on did change the equation a little bit but they should have made the materials for them farmable in nightmare instead of hell. you only functionally have three respecs accessible going into hell and if you don't figure out the hyper-specific build that works to actually get through it, your character may as well be permadead. making the mats farmable in nightmare instead of hell would have been perfect imo because going into hell is exactly when you need to be able to experiment.
Screw it. Here's my current full gear loadout. The charms weren't worth screencapping. When I do find goodstuff, it's usually always for other classes. Like I found an amazing 1-handed wand for a Lightning Sorc.
So what runs should I be doing then?
the only arpg i ever actually liked was d2
grim dawn is a bit janky but it's good, i recommend
cow level on nightmare is a pretty good place to look for socketed items and blizzard should work well in there
google sunder charms.
also your gear sucks dicks and a half noob. That might be the first time in 20 years ive seen someone actually make a radiance.
just farm nightmare meph for a while and you'll get plenty of good sorc gear.
with a sorc, prioritize +skills and resistances, and magic find but you can keep the mf gear seperate from your main if you want and switch over.
Enjoy the game.
Spirit and Lore should be easy to make and do extreme carry work.
Just making sure every single person in this thread is playing this game with a controller right?
It’s legitimately a 100% better game with controller than mouse and keyboard.
I suspect the people getting filtered are keyboard mouse clickers.
D2 is peak ARPG and there is no point of even trying to innovate on the genre anymore. Path of excrement tried and it's a bloated disaster of a game, and we don't even need to talk about D3 and D4.
How do I break immunities?
only conviction and lower resist can break immunity, though their impact is 1/5 normal until resistance is below 100%.
there are other ways besides those to lower resistances but they do not break immunity even if normally they would bring resistance under 100%.
conviction is a pally skill but infinity also grants it and fits into a desert merc wep. however, it's endgame.
as for LR: diablo.fandom.com
frankly, if a situation permits it, it's better to just ignore enemies that are immune to your main damage type if possible. as for forced encounters, you can bring a backup damage type or try to have your merc kill it.
I wouldn't mind a new game that followed D2 ideas closely but had a new world, new classes, more builds and maybe a little bit of modern game QoL here and there. Sort of like D2R but if it were a new game instead of a remaster. Not made by Blizzard of course and it doesn't need to be Diablo IP.
plays
its a cookie clicker
you dont do shit and the entire game is designed about arbitrary loser progression that removes any challenge on the next go
Game plays well, it's fun.
Why Meph and not Big D or Baal? They both go down pretty easy to me at this point. Also, I do have a set of MF gear which gets me a high enough % boost. Read up on it and saw that it gets vastly diminishing returns after 200%, so I this should be fine for gear farming.
Meph is fast/easy to kill and can drop many good items. Farming him is the fastest way to get basic gear.
Where's the Horadric cube?
The original is kino. The "remaster" where every class except the Necromancer look much worse blows.
Stash. I don't care about maximizing my space per trip to town. Taking items in and out of the cube for the extra storage space on hand is more annoying.
as anon that wasn't me said, speed.
you can easily get to him and do the moat trick to stay safe where he can't attack you.
the 2nd thing in the game besides mf amount is speed. 3rd thing just as important is the level of monster you are killing and what level you are.
you could also farm nightmare countess in act1 for runes to make a spirit sword and shield pretty fast.
nightmare cows is a good place to find a 4 socket sword. Don't use anything bigger than a crystal or longsword because the stat req will be too high.
I honestly hadn't been even considering swords. Just kind of assumed I'd be using wands or staves for their extra skill levels the whole way through.
Isn't the Horadric cube able to put runes in your weapons and armor? Why is it so apparently problematic? How can the Horadric cube make your gaming easier or, in your case (?), problematic?
spirit sword is +2 all skills with mana and some other shit.
it's ungodly cheap and best in slot for a looooooong time until you find an oculus orb, eschutas, or deaths fathom(you wont find that)
eschutas is fire, occy is good for any sorc.
Terror Andy is the best farm in D2R especially if you don't play online.
cube can craft stuff and turn runes into higher runes, and technically socket some things.
and carrying it around is better, especially if you're doing actual grinding for mf etc.
What a beautiful mechanic, thank you.
What? The cube isn't needed for putting runes into sockets.
Just looked up the runeword. Yeah, that would be good and what's more, I already have all those runes in my stash. Only 1 of the Tal rune, but I'm sure I'll find another one of those easy enough. Now I know to keep on the lookout for 4 slotted swords and shields.
wish runes didn't fucking ruin everything.
