It wasn't particularly different from any other Force power.
The Exile actually represented something new; someone who having been severed from the Force, turning his back on it, might show a new path to not being dependent on the Force. She also became personally interested in The Exile, caring for them.

He consumes the life of everything around him without even meaning to, killing the crew of the Ravager even as he holds the ship together. The only way to beat him is for the Exile to goad him into consuming the Exile's Force only for him to choke on the absence of it.
