people have been using voltage changes as tamper protection/detection for a LONG ass time on stuff.
What you do is you put in select resistors so that if specific sections of circuits are bypassed it significantly changes the voltage in a VERY specific way, because that resistor is now cut out.
And by using multiple resistors you can now use some math to detect what was bypassed and where.
resistor 1 is say, (dont assume these are the actual values someone would use) 15 ohms, and resistor 2 is 20.
So if the circuit suddenly loses 20 ohms of resistance, res 2 was bypassed.
If it 15, res 1 was bypassed.
if its 35, both were bypassed.

to add onto this further, they COULD be rigging it so that when you bypass those resistors, it overvolts a section of the circuit board and just so happens to burn out something that NEEDS to be on a smaller voltage.
The funny thing is that if this gets mapped out... it is VERY much something that can be safely bypassed by figuring out what resistances are needed.
That's why surge protectors exist.
