Aside from people right here talking about shitty FE plots, the ICBMs does correct their own problem. They are meant to expose the base, hence why they aren't just used earlier and only when drastic measures are needed. Shitty plot elements are things that introduce conflicts more than resolves them.
Their real problem is not having a kill count despite being literal ICBMs. They can barely kill Rhea, and Thadeus was squished by a rock, so they didn't got him.

Ignoring the FUCKING HOW and Gunther being more an extension of Anankos's will than himself of things, the rules are clearly stated but the curse itself doesn't add any meaningful conflict, only obfuscation. It only resolves the "Why Azura has Lying Bitch Disease?" question compared to the "How does this function and how much can you get away with?" ones (Garon can call Anankos by name and has a fucking statue of the being emblazoned on his throne room, so obviously he can pick favorites and it isn't a hard law), ontop of neither Birthright or Conquest hinging on this fact. Azura is able to smuggle an item that expressly showcases both the existence of Valla and its top spy from Valla in both routes, so it is a really bad curse that can't do the one thing that it should do. And in Conquest, if Azura wasn't a fucking retard and just wait the NEXT MORNING to show all the Nohrian Royal Family the Orb of Truth, the 2nd half of that route would have played VERY DIFFERENTLY.
The Valla Curse plays similarly to the Blood Pact. It isn't a bad idea, even if it just introduces conflict to the plot. The problems start with how MUCH conflict, the KIND of conflicts, and the ROLE it plays in the plot.

That really what breaks the Valla Curse: it is reliant on Anankos being omniscent and all-seeing. That is entirely based on HIS decisions in terms on when to trigger it. It is obvious he wouldn't murk his own subjects, but it also implies that it IS based on his personal opinions on the scene -- which will usually go on KILL ON SIGHT. So it isn't really a curse, least one with hardline rules. It's pretty much just a Kill Satellite.
It is similar to the Blood Pact in this regard, the rules are too vague and up to interpretation to actually function as a hardline rule. Especially knowing the outright hypocrisy that goes into it: either feed Daein citizens into the meatgrinder of war or slowly let them die off while the Laguz Alliance does its thing. Even with the "everyone turned into statues" bit, no one thinks about the safety of the people in the Army that DOES, so either the curse can't affect them or the curse is trying to kill statues which why would it do that...
You can't have omniscience AND personal subjectivity to your magic rules; this isn't Hunter x Hunter and its Nen abilities. Even if I were to give the benefit of the doubt and say that Azura works better playing it safe than assuming Anankos isn't looking, the game would work a lot better without the scenes of people actively breaking the established rules.
Even without Reclassing, Balance starts making less and less sense the more you look at how each game handles promotions.

The game never states that, it's just that Anankos would obviously keep his puppets safe from it by making it not affect them. Since there's a way for his subjects to be differenciated from non subjects (corruption presence or absense), Anankos can easily curse only the ones who aren't under his rule by simply protecting those under his rule from the curse. No omnicience needed.
I genuinely prefer games where either I can pair off the army to each orher, or even more preferably where there are pre-established relationships like pent/louise. Even in games where there is a 'playable avatar' I am not a unit, i am the invisible eye in the sky.

The early parts of Revelation requires Corrin to skirt around the deal, despite the invisible enemies VERY CLEARLY fucking shit up and them pointing it out, so I'm actually left confused why even bother having a curse when they can barely believe Valla would exist.

And there really aren't any "straight" remakes, each one is radically different compared to their original game. There's only so much you can do with timeskips because they do get in the way of the core experience of FE: raising a unit you love to the best of your abilities. And time travel is iffy as a writing device. Hence why I choose the baby dimension. Wasn't handled well but it does oddly make the most sense in terms of a magical wartime.

The hawks are mini-Tibarns that you can use before the final maps and they’re actually alright there too. Volug is the most usable non royal since he has a good growth spread, actually gains exp from fighting laguz and has Earth affinity to be a good support partner.
A lot of people avoid using them because they don’t wanna play around the gauge.

As for Volug, I do give credit to his performance in Part I, but it is the rest of the game that falters. Also Part I caps off with giving you both Nailah and the Black Knight, so you really don't need a third Jagen to get you through it.
