Would you buy it?
Would you buy it?
In a heartbeat. A great experimental library, and a console that was crazy ahead of its time. Check out the Divers 2000 model, which allowed video calls in the 90's.
Oh, and Ready 2 Rumble was one of my main DC games. Glad people remember it. The only other game I could ask for on this mockup would be Slave Zero.
Absolutely
Yeah but I'd prefer a Saturn Mini first. Also it would be cool if they included a few Atomiswave games as the bonus games, like Dolphin Blue, Knights of Valor, Metal Slug 6 or some of the fighting games.
I'd put Jet Set Radio, Power Stone 1 & 2, Jet Set Radio, Quake III Arena, and Unreal Tournement. Bit off a stretch but I'd also add the unreleased DC port of Half-Life and the fanmade DC ports of GTA III and VC.
Wonder If the Dreamcast could handle Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo 2?
honestly yeah. Why not. I will support any console where you don't have to pay a fucking subscription fee to play it and or play online
Didn't realize I'd put Jet Set Radio Twice, oh well.
Actually, Jet Set Radio Future was planned for the Dreamcast.
I have a soft spot for DC Quake III, but it's honestly pretty unplayable without a keyboard. To answer your Halo question, both games relied heavily on the Xbox's hard drive for caching data. Halo 1 could potentially work, but the load times would be unbearable for levels like Assault on the Control Room.
Yeah
It's a weird feel enough that I stood in line as a kid to get the original dreamcast, and yet here i am still.
Actually, why didn't Sega add DVD capabilites to the Dreamcast? Is it because of poor relations between Sega of Japan and America?
Not even load times, but load frequency. I'd liken it to Half-Life 2 on the Xbox where each map had to be segmented a bunch.
yeah i like the controller and it had a good library of games.
Maybe I could add Seaman, Soldier of Fortune, Shadow Man, Legacy of Kain, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Code Veronica, RE2, and Rayman 2: The Great Escape
They cheaped out on the console's laser since they were hurting from the Saturn's failure. DVD tech was still new and expensive.
I see, it's a miracle GameCube barely survived while the Dreamcast didn't.
No Jet Set Radio or Skies of Arcadia is a crime
Shenmue, too. Shame on me for forgetting that one.
Ehhh, even though it's a classic, sad to say it's aged horribly. Heard Code Veronica aged poorly too oddly enough.
No, I already have a Dreamcast and most of those games.
Nintendo definitely had a stronger legacy to support them. Sega, as much as I love them, burned too many bridges leading up to the Dreamcast.
Yes. Without question.
But you won't buy a Switch 2, a PS5, PS6, Xbox Series X|S, or whatever the new Xbox is going to be?
Correct.
If I had money in 1999, yeah. But I was 6 so I never did. Nowadays? No, the library is good but I'm not interested in retro consoles
I owned Code: Veronica on PS2 at one point. Seemed to age similarly to other Resident Evil games.
If you have a Dreamcast and haven't shoved a GDEMU in it by now you're doing it wrong.
It's weird because I assumed Zero aged poorly, but for some reason other people say CV. I will say, remakes for Zero and Code Veronica are more likely than a remake of RE5.
Nintendo definitely had a stronger legacy to support them. Sega, as much as I love them, burned too many bridges leading up to the Dreamcast.
Do you think Nintendo is doing the same thing with the Switch 2?
no Virtual-On
shitty fucking Eurocom Hydro Thunder port
whoever made ops image is a giga fucking retard
midway/atari is long dead
It's been in a box in my basement for years. Maybe I should dig it out.
Here you go
They'd put a screen where the VMU went and either have a totally wireless controller or have the cable come out of the top.
No Powerstone
Nah, the Switch 1 went strong for eight years. But if they're unable to turn the Switch 2 around then whatever comes next may be in trouble.
NiGHTS but no 3D Pad
Virtua Cop 1 + 2 but no light gun
I really want to like the Saturn but it has no games.
That's easy to say when you have no taste in games.
yea i want to play some games that stopped releasing stuff like the one with a theif raccon that one seems fun idk if it was here
No Illbleed? No Jet Set Radio? No Power Stone? etc.
you might be thinking of sly cooper
no De La Jet Set Radio
not even regular Jet Set Radio
what idiot mocked this thing up?
I have all these games on regular ass CDs kek.
Already exists.
Already exists UNOFFICALLY
ftfy
Those games are a lot harder to find than other mini-console games, plus the Dreamcast does not emulate terribly well, and downloading isos is tedious. I would absolutely buy one if I didn't already have a big collection.
But man, I'd hate to imagine the nightmare that would be online services to allow people to play Phantasy Star and other online DC games.
Funny how Shenmue was the Dreamcast gem for most of my life and now no one gives a shit. It's not even in the OP mockup. Has a legacy comparable to something like Xenosaga. Important at a very specific time only
X4
Not SOTN
f
switch 2 literally has no competition when it comes to handhelds and the gamecube had enough worth titles to survive
thinking they would use a fan translation in an official project
Better on the ps1, same for RE.
No thanks, it wouldn't be the original dreamcast versions, stuff like crazy taxi would be gimped without the offspring ost. Anyway, I owned the original, it was fun, I'm good
no lol i already have many of those games on my steam account
I hate crts but damn thats a nice one
It's even more tragic when you know its original vision. Twelve games, each using your choices from previous entries to tailor the story to you. Could've been legendary.
Damn rare, too. Japan only. Would sell a nut for one.
No, unless it has new arcade ports and improved games like the Mega Drive Mini 2.
Fuck Nights, give me Planet Harriers.
Dreamcast had so few games they couldn't even find sixteen good Dreamcast games and had to put in a Sega Saturn game in instead
I'd buy a new fully-built DC to replace my aging one.
Planet Harriers.
is hikaru emulation still a thing?
mahvel 2
Capcom definitely isn't letting that happen lol
Yeah
If I can expand it with games from an SD card, then fuck yes. Twice.
One to play, one to make sweet love to.
Demul is dead and has issues rendering certain bullets in Planet Harriers that make the game borderline unplayable, the flycast devs said they have it in their to-do list (never ever).
Fighting Force 2
look it's a "fuck you i liked it" game for me but it's also objectively bad and doesn't belong on any mini console, let alone the kinocast
Not buying it if my wife isn't in it
I always wanted to try out more of its library, so yeah. I also wanted to get good at Crazy Taxi but never did so.
no one remembers my favorite Dreamcast game
It was such a hidden gem. I haven't found any other game like it.
Hope you at least had sex once.
I'd rather just emulate for free, desu. If I really wanted to have something physical that could play Dreamcast games, I'd just buy a Dreamcast.
