Literally HOW
one of the most popular anime IPs ever
not a SINGLE good game
Literally HOW
popular doesnt mean good, one piece was never good
Pirate Warriors 3. Shame about 4 though.
Pic related. I liked all the grand battle games too
You should play games with better anime, only frogs like shit piss
Post Robin and Nami's fat tits already.
The "adventure" mode of 1 was pretty good if you see it as a child/young teen game like lego titles. The musou half sucked, but it only felt tacked on from the start.
As fun as 2 and 3 were, I honestly wanted more of that instead.
I'm convinced one piece's popularity is entirely astroturfed. You always see how it's the highest selling graphic novel of all time but literally nobody IRL knows about it. You'd think for a series this "big" it would have a bigger effect on the cultural consciousness. Even Dragonball gets t-shirts at Walmart. I'm pretty sure they're using Wii Sports rules where they say X amount of shonen jumps were printed therefore one piece sold X amount.
love one piece
most of the games are just retreads through the story with minor changes
No long anime or manga can be converted well to a game. You either stay within the framework of the plot, meaning you already know what you'll be doing and how it'll end, or you make it some spin-off filler shit, which means it doesn't matter. And yes, because it's a story-centric medium, the plot does have to mean something even in a vidya based on it. You can also be guaranteed that any actual good IP would never be represented, because anyone trying to make a vidya adaptation is always going to be looking at LCD shonen action. The only way you can make this all work is if it's a very short anime, where you can distill a few setpieces into your levels and let the player chew through them in one sitting.
tranny shit
One Piece is not remotely as big in the US, yeah. It got off to a REALLY fucking shit start - 4kids mangled anime, the manga shoved in those prototype American Jump! comp books - and never recovered. Unlike Dragonball which they stuck with and salvaged to become popular here.
Even Naruto and Bleach got 1000% better handling than OP did. Most of the rest of the world treated it better though(esp japan ofc) so naturally it also sold better.
The PS2 Powerstone clone was fun.
One Piece is held back by its anime and length. One Piece's anime looked ugly as fuck and 4kids did not help, so One Piece didn't catch on with Westerners like Dragon Ball and Naruto did. One Piece is getting an anime remake so things might improve on that front. Second, it's very long so people interested in it get scared off due to the commitment. It's not that hard to read through One Piece but people don't know that.
literally nobody IRL knows about it
I have multiple normie friends (and I mean total absolute normalfags) that either READ one piece or watch it subbed.
I'm talking about people that never watch anime or read manga. Actual weebs in my friends circle don't consider its existence or success at all.
One of my clients is a chad dudebro that works in a gym and one day he started talking about the fact he's currently rewatching the anime, at least a couple of episodes every day.
I never gave a shit about it myself until my gf insisted we should watch it a few months ago. We're currently watching the One Pace edit during dinner.
One of my clients is a chad dudebro that works in a gym and one day he started talking about the fact he's currently rewatching the anime
holy based
feepee beepee
The pacing of story telling in anime makes it difficult to maintain any level of fidelity when turned into video games format. If you can't tell the story in any cohesive way then you are pretty much stuck with fighting games. You can just make up story like many of the DBZ handheld games, but for some reason developers are largely against that.
I've been watching with my gf and we're almost done with fishman island.
This show is the most consistent 7/10 media I've ever seen. It's not bad. It's not incredible. It is just good. But it's good all the time. It's an interesting case study, honestly.
Every arc has like, 2 hype moments and 10 funny ones. It's fascinating.
The GBA game is pretty good.
Oda's not a good storyteller, and not a particularly great creator, but there is one thing he does better than any fucking body else: controlled chaos.
The absolute best parts of the manga are the shit like impel down ascent, or marineford, where everything is just an utter shitpile with a thousand things going on, but the fucker keeps it all in amusing order for you to enjoy and follow.
I heard Odyssey was okay.
Luffy now hokage?
Umi Nami gonna revealed both gender
no ass crack clevage
criminal
Unlimited Cruise Episodes 1 and 2 are also great games along those same lines as Adventure. They aren’t perfect, but I think they captured the vibe of the series very well, while making a fun and addictive game.
As said, it did get off to a rough start. As someone who grew up during the height of the “Big 3” being Naruto, Bleach and One Piece, OP was more or less unheard of. But I think, more than anything else, it’s the artstyle that turns people away. A very large subset of anime enjoyers are only in it for the shallow purpose of watching something that “looks cool” which amounts to generic anime drivel. One Piece is borderline Western cartoon with its designs and art styles, and scoffs at the prospect of making anything 100% cool and serious. Even the coolest guys in the show have some kind of goofy aspect to them.
what was bad about 4?
I'll admit, the simple shonen deviation of having and the squad not only lose to Magellan, but completely fucking leg it from him the second time, barely escaping alive, was a great hook for me.
Marineford I liked much less, because Ace is a fucking retard and I cannot for the life of me understand why people are willing to get his tattoo across their backs irl. He's a dumb, selfish cretin that got Marty McFly "chickened" into dying in front of an army of people who wanted him to live.
Plus his backstory comes posthumously. Thanks Oda.
fpbp
Because it's a shitty show.
What makes it "not good"?
D propaganda
Very Trvke!
Pirate Warriors 3 and 4
Unlimited World Red
Odyssey
I don't give a fuck what others say but these were good.
Hamfisted air combos.
Reducing some of the more unique characters into generic mashers to accomodate the air combos.
Characters with gimmick that you MUST use all the time or you do piddly shit damage to mooks. Looking at you, Usopp.
Bosses having long ass invincibility with the guard break shit, which you cannot break if they happen to be doing their special moves.
Burning Blood and GBA rpg was good too
I didn't mind Burning Blood. That game and PW3 had a solid roster and I liked the fact in Burning Blood the female cast had destructible clothing damage which was fucking based.
GBA RPG
Que? Thought the only GBA game was the beat em up.
Dragonball makes more money and One Piss was never good.
-0/10. Try harder with your rage bait.
See me after class.
I’m in the UK and everyone knows about One Piece, granted this was a recent thing it only happened in late Wano, I think it synced up with that huge shift where anime suddenly became cool and popular, like 95% of school kids are into it now, it’s not something you get bullied about anymore.
But yeah I’m constantly seeing One Piece clothes in mainstream stores, a lot of people have phone cases which is a One Piece wanted poster or something, just shit like that but it’s everywhere
There ton of them includes Legend of the Rainbow Island
This just in: Ameriburg learns other countries exist outside of it. More at 11.
How is what he saying ragebait? That is 100% how they are, imagine you get 1k+ chapters to deepen your characters, and you do nothing with it and make them some one one dimensional gag characters, any western tv shows do better character work in 9-16 episdoes than One Piece has done for 1k+ chapters
Introducing a magic maguffin isn't establishing a plot point, its a cop out so that it doesn't seem like an ass pull when you write yourself into a corner. That stupid fucking piece of paper garbage took 8 years to even explain what it did but its hailed as "peak" writing. Shonen is written for little boys after all, more so for the immature since they cant grasp higher concepts because it just a game of rememberance
It was good 'at the time' because new-3D in theaters + special effects.
All Odyssey was good for was giving us the best Nami and Robin models to date.
The fact that the live action show was by some miracle actually pretty good and serves as a kinda perfect on-boarding method to get normies interested also helped a ton
Isn't the anime also on Netflix?
The manga is better unironically
nu-DMC production by saar studio
Today remind on support trans community.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't good.
Sabo introduction steal becca spotlight
Ichigo/Nero voice actor
He a fraud copycat
Can't make a good game based on a shitty IP
I'm convinced one piece's popularity is entirely astroturfed.
It's because it is
Stop watching and swap to the manga, the anime goes to shit after the timeskip. Fishman island isn’t so bad but punk hazard & dressrosa is atrocious, I’m not sure how wano is
literally nobody IRL knows about it
This may be because you're 30. Old ahh mf
Get a job among 20 year olds, they all know about One Piece.
Why are zoomers so obsessed with media that was way before their time
If I had to find One Piece, I'd be using a hydroplane boat. These motherfuckers go 250 MPH(300+ if Nitrous is installed along with engine modifications).
You'd be getting to island much faster, zip through the Calm Belts while the Sea Kings wondering what the fuck was that since you already zipped by going 200+ MPH, and if you are wanted, you'd be outrunning the Marines and hell install a battering ram in front along with body reinforcements and you will be ramming holes through Marine ships especially Admiral and Vice Admiral ships.
Yeah but not all of it. IIRC they started dripfeeding arcs until the timeskip, then skipped straight to Egghead.
Netflix is also planning a reboot of the One Piece anime by Studio Wit.
Where do you get the fuel?
want to get into One piece
1000+ episodes
50 full lenght movies and ovas
Nah. I suffered through Naruto and it's 500 episodes and never again.
If your show has more than 100 episodes i'm not gonna bother.
I'd eat the fuel fuel no mi
I’m not sure how wano is
Imagine Dressrosa pacing but worse, and also cubes and DBS auras everywhere.
Install a single fuel cell that lasts forever. KITT in Knight Rider uses that so you never have to refuel.
Also install the infinity shield +1, right?
You're probably american, OP is unfathomably popular in Japan (90% of physical manga sales) and decently popular in Latam and Europe.
Face it, at this point you arent watching/reading One Piece because its good. It hasnt been good in like 10 years. You just want to get to the ending and you are a coward thinking that you may miss it after all these years.
Guess what? the finale isnt worth all the shitty writing and asspulls Oda has been putting out
Jesus christ I knew that that was where it started getting over-animated but I genuinely can’t imagine pacing worse than Dressrosa
Latam
Nah, seeing I'm from here, the only anime with any significance is Dragonball
Say what you will about the rest of it, but Ennies Lobby and Whole Cake Island arcs are far better than 7/10.
The Molecular Bonded Shell? Hell yeah.
series known for giving the MCs new costumes every arc
none of the shitty musou games has a lot of costumes
I fucking hate the japanese. How hard is it to model clothes.
Hydrogen-Hydrogen fruit
I'm also from here Brazil, most zoomers enjoy anime and some of them are into One Piece.
Actually, doing some maths, turns out Wano is SLIGHTLY better paced on average than Dressrosa, but Wano itself is SO FUCKING LONG and bloated as an arc, it felt worse to me.
Dressrosa adapted 102 chapters in 118 episodes, so approximately 1.15 chapter an episode.
Wano adapted 149 chapters in 191 episodes, so approximately 1.28 chapter an episode.
what magic muffin?
How was Whole Cake Island? I gotta admit I only just remembered that arc existed
I'd assume he means haki.
It's weird, I can name all the big bads in DBZ (Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Buu) even if I have never seen an episode. I couldn't name a single One Piss villain if my life depended on it. Is Blackbeard a villain?
once the manga actually ends it'll finally have room for either a Budokai Tenkaichi or a FighterZ, at that point they'll have full movesets for Luffy (Early Mid and Late) and the rest of the Straw Hats, every major and minor antagonist, and whatever literally who designed by Oda OC they decide to throw in
the finale is worth all the shitty writing and asspulls Oda has been putting out
Yes. I'm still reading Berserk too, fully aware that both endings will be underwhelming, but it will still be worth it.
it was completely neutered in the west because at the time when it should've gotten massively popular the 4kids dub shot it in the foot, it's contemporaries Naruto and Bleach actually did get that "big effect" on the cultural consciousness, Naruto far more so
Actually I think it's the vivre card, one of the few times Oda delivered in his blue balls style of writing
78 chapters in 95 episodes, so 1.22 chapter per episode. Definitely too much time wasted on WEDDING KEIKIs and CROQUENBOUCHEs.
I only started reading One Piece like three years ago from the start
Zou and Thriller Bark are the best arcs
Wano is objectively the worst
I stopped reading recently when the party got randomly split up and they were in a cage or something
Thinking the rest of Berserk isn’t going to just be fanfiction
Oh boy I’ve got some bad news for you
Haki was hinted at as early as the first chapter.
Ah ace's card. How is that a magic muffin? if you remove it it won't even change the arc. He doesn't learn of ace's trouble from it but from Gloriosa reading the news. The card just confirms he is in trouble
???
Who are you quoting?
Just make a 4 series game, game 1 is start to pretend timeskip
Game 2 is post time skip to dresrosa
Game 3 is post dress Rosa to Wano
Game 4 is post wano to end
Make it a kingdom hearts clone where you only control luffy but your ai compainons change per arc.
Make it semi open world and add some new islands to visit and custom game only arcs as well
Add super bosses
Let you use the ship in both combat and traveling
Done best game ever made would sell a zillion copys
Haki was shown from the beginning but it was definitely an asspull to write it so using it could let you attack any Logia user, it’s obvious it was never intended like that from the start but he quickly got sick of having to come up with creative counters to them
Yeah Ace is pathetic. He looks cool and that's about it. Funny enough Oda had to stack on like twenty feats for him posthumously because in hindsight he is REALLY weak for a Yonko commander.
I think Haki is okay but it wasn't planned at all, Oda wrote himself into a corner when he decided to make Aokiji no diff everyone in Long Ring Long Land.
Also, considering that anon said "8 years" he might be refering to Lola's vivre card and how she mentioned her mom is a famous pirate, which happened at the end of Thriller Bark, which is 8 years before the start of WCI.
still getting "that man" and character silhouettes shrouded in shadow
tons of side characters introduced frequently that end up just being designs Oda wanted to draw that don't go anywhere
chapters are way more crammed full of shit than they used to be yet it feels like nothing is happening and everything is happening at the same time
manga still five years out bare minimum from being actually finished
you could fit some entire series into one or two one piece arcs, some of them have a complete story in 100 chapters while Wano was dragging its feet with fightfagging shit for 1/3 of its length
Name ONE good anime game
UNO
He was at best 3rd commander level but was given a high position in WB crew because he's Roger son. I think it's cool that he's not as powerful as he "should" be, shows that if you're powerful in OP verse it's because you deserve it at least until the Nika reveal ruined this element of the series
one of the most popular anime IPs ever
So what? Pokemon is the most popular ip ever and it also has zero good games.
Read the manga, if you read like 25 chapters a day you can get caught up under two months

Naruto Rise of a Ninja & Broken Bond
Sex with nico robin's feet
I would disagree. I think Haki was always planned. Just like how devil fruits are rare outside the grandline, haki is rare outside the new world.
Everyone in paradise that Luffy defeated was cocky and arrogant. So haki wasn't needed because everyone was weak.
As you get closer to the new world you start seeing more competent villains who won't get defeated by their "weakness". It became a fight of wills and not one of power. And haki is will power manifest.
If you ignore shanks in chapter 1 we see it as well in skypiea with mantra, which is 200 chapters into a 1200+ chapter series. Then cp9 at enies lobby has similar to armament with iron body.
As for the vivre card gotten by lola i don't remember much about it. It was heavily theorized soon after that i was big mom's card. And since they are tied directly to the life force of the creator, it wouldn't be far fetched to think part of the soul of big mom wouldn't want to attack another part.
more like there's no real good guys
Does this show even have anything to do with pirates anymore or is that more of a "in name only" thing now?
"Pirate" is just a derogatory slur for libertarians in the world of one piece
Now it's about overthrowing a demonic Jewish cabal led by literal Satan.
I said I agreed with you that it was planned from the beginning, however the specific usage of armament haki being able to damage Logia users I very much doubt was planned
i forgot to mention that these are more so a contingency because setting if you have something that isnt explained for over years then its not a setup, its a result of bad writing
Yeah Doffy is actually a swell guy if you ignore the slavery, arms dealing, mass murder, coercing a woman into a sexual relationship, coup d'etat of a peaceful kingdom, patricide, fratricide, and the entire nightmare scenario that was Dressrosa under his rule.
He had a tough childhood so that makes justifies every action he took.
one of the most dogshit anime ever
has several amazing games
hey you forgot the 12 different Zoro character slots (2 for Sanji) and Crocodile
Naruto is way better than One Piece, it was the best of the big 3
Can I get an overview of that.
jews bad
Luffy must be a fucking monster then since his bounty is double doffy's.
I grew up reading/watching Naruto, only started watching One Piece last year.
One Piece is a much better series overall. Naruto has better fights but One Piece's world building and character writing shits all over Naruto's. Naruto backstories are hilariously bad compared to One Piece backstories.
Also One Piece has better girls.
Does this show even have anything to do with pirates anymore
I mean let's not kid ourselves, Luffy was barely ever a pirate in the traditional sense.
That said pirates are still a major focus, if the final boss doesn't end up being demonic globo homo then it's probably going to be Blackbeard. It could also just end up being an all out brawl between various pirate and government factions over the One Piece.
The five elders turned out to be led by a guy/girl named Imu, it’s implied they’re all hundreds of years old and have been manipulating world events since before the Void Century, that they’re trying desperately to cover up, and all their powers have been demonic, like satanic looking summoning circles being used for the elders to teleport
Trusting the demon jews' bounty system.
Bounties depend on how much you've pissed off the government and/or how much bad shit they know you've done. Doffy had his bounty paused from being a warlord too.
Grand Adventure was pretty good
Buggy, Arlong, Wapol, and Crocodile. I got all that after reading only 2 sagas.
One Piece doesn't have any behemoths on par with DBZ's big three, but it does still have some iconic guys like Blackbeard, Crocodile, and Lucci.
I wondered how high someone's bounty gets if they were offing each Marine one by one of all ranks from grunts to Admirals?
Rambo himself would easily one man army the entire OP Marines regardless of their ranks and powers they have.
I have 2 friends from college who watched One Piece, and they say they hate it. Seemingly after the time skip.
I've been reading it though, and it's been really good so far. I find the pacing in the anime too slow. It's a really good manga though. I was reading through tears reading through the Drum Island arc, and I was hyped af when Luffy took on Arlong and Crocodile.
wano
absolute shit tier arc, ruined one piece for me and to add salt to the wound the fucked Oda CAN'T LET IT GO and continues to make wano shit on the weekly covers about the proto-tranny yamato
This Crocfag sums it up nicely.
Mogged by HxH
fpbp
when they made top down and platformer dragon ball games, those were kino
You should leave this topic immediately before people start spoiling you and/or trying to ruin your read through.
Okay is a step below good though
I'd say One Piece's character development was pretty good prior to the time skip, then it went to a screeching halt for a lot of the strawhats post time skip. Seriously, Franky and Chopper are terrible.
You can say "ass" on this website.
everything up to the arc where nami gets plot sick and a gay merchandise mascot reindeer is introduced, is good
Speaking of terrible, Franky's new voice actor doesn't come close to cutting it for his voice
these threads are always just an excuse to have a Anon Babble One Piece thread on Anon Babble.
But I guess it works at tricking the jannies, so whatevs.
Buggy's bounty is so high because he's doing just that.
you consider only that to be good? fish fuck island arc went on too long and the drum island arc was mediocre. are you trying to say that it doesnt get better than from that point?
There Are 3 things that can affect Pirate bounty.
1. How much government hates him
2. How powerful(hard to catch/kill) he is
3. Overall crimes.
Being warlord pauses bounty, also under specific circumstances bounty can be artificially raised/lowered.
Anon Babble‘s One Piece thread are terrible. This is much, much better
All they had to do was fill in the holes they skipped in the 3rd game. That's it. The fact that they cut East Blue entirely and then went back to PW4 for Gear 5 already tells me PW5 ain't coming for a good while and if it does, they'll probably announce it while the current arc is going or at the end, and Wano will still be the final arc in that game. PW4 should have ended at Whole Cake and then MAYBE start on PW5 at the end of Elbaf in the manga and see where to go from there with that arc. OP alone has over 100 characters to use before the story comes near the timeskip and they hardly utilized any of them.
If they made PW5, they should do it after OP is finally done and make it go through all major arcs that are in the manga and maybe a filler arc or 2 from the anime(make them optional too).
Fillers
Yeah I know but name me filler arcs in anime that were good, especially in OP?
it only has sad back story no character development go back Anon Babble retard
They had a good thing going when they decided to do Orochi. Rather than PW5, I'd rather see them do a Jump crossover game with dozens of characters from the classics.
OP, naruto, bleach, gintama, early dragonball(just to keep the power level in check), FOTNS, etc.
Collabing with Jump's major artists to come up with some kind of suitable antagonist force for that lineup would be amazing.
That anon is retarded. I loved the alabasta arc, and enies lobby was the highlight of the series. Impel Down was really fun because of Ivankov, that was my second fave.
