Now that the dust has settled, will he double down on
turn-based doesn't sell so FF17 will be another generic action game
or will he eat his words and go
we heard you loud and clear! we're going back to our roots with FF17

He'll say they're going back to their roots but the finished game won't have any RPG elements and it will have auto battle. Gear will be strictly vertical MMO style shit with item levels. Sidequests will once again be MMO fetch quests. There will be 20 minutes of combat for every three hours of cutscenes and following waypoints on the minimap.
Hopefully they will let Team Ninja make a new game but this time with FF budget.
Or at least whoever was responsible for Neo:TWEWY gameplay.
why do you think yoship is gonna be working on 17?
we heard you loud and clear! we're going back to our roots with FF17
Square will not go back to it's roots. The next FF will once again be some modern-day looking shit instead of looking like a fucking Yoshitaka Amano painting, like it should. It'll be some Nomura-esque shit once again, too, I'm sure.
Director for TWEWY's gone m8
I'm 100% sure Yoshit Piss isn't working on FF17 in any capacity. He fumbled the ball so fucking hard with FF16 that he got retired forcefully from the SE board of directors.
too busy going to anime expo than fix his game lol
its funny had he made ff16 combat deeper the game would of been alot fucking better. What a half assed action game.
Gameplay is too stressful, please understand.
fucking stellar blade has better combat lul
Left SE != Dead, m8
You made me worried there for a second.
action game with one weapon and one combo, with all cool skills on MMO cooldowns
stagger bar system where you dump all your cooldowns into a boss that sits there and does nothing for 30 seconds at a time
AAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
FF16 was just slow, easy and constrained. Afraid to give players too many tools and a worthwhile challenge. Needs more freedom in FF17.
Instead of forcing shit on players, make the game work with both playstyles: turn-cringe and action-based. Just hire DMC's combat designer again.
Stagger and cooldown were a retarded idea. Made me quit the game after Garuda.
slow
easy
constrained

I suppose it might be if you play at level in the video I linked. People need to remember that Japanese are literally built different.
Check the video I linked. At no point the guy is pooling his big CDs for stagger period. Everyone can play like this. Most simply choose not to, me included.
He said that if the next director wants to make FF a call of duty fps clone he'd support him.
Yoshi and his team just weren't the right fit. He's used to MMO players being unable to beat casual main story content and needing to make it easier and easier to beat to appease them. Those same players are the ones that need gear given to them with each completion of a main story quest with no options for horizontal progression because they're too retarded to understand stats. The average fan of a mainline FF game is much more skilled than the 40 year old disabled RPer he deals with.
That's skill issue and (I'm assuming) still takes several dozen hours to unlock all those abilities.
I be playing like that by the halfway point of DMC5 and even though DMC's enemies are notoriously unresponsive, they'd still be more entertaining than that dragon boss from your video.
I REALLY despise the modern FF stagger system. It is SO. FUCKING. LAZY.
There is no animal that behaves like that. NOTHING doesn't flinch when getting bludgeoned to death, gets up and starts fighting like nothing happened.
Nice gameplay, though. I love FF but the last one I played was 13. Tried 16 and getting through the Garuda tower was a fucking SLOG. I couldn't be arsed to continue, unfortunately.
You make no sense to me.
DMC enemies are notoriously unresponsive
Yes, because you go out of your way to stunlock and isolate them with air combat
There is no animal that behaves like that. NOTHING doesn't flinch when getting bludgeoned to death, gets up and starts fighting like nothing happened.
So you get have your high octance complex combat while the enemy is not notoriously unresponsive. What's the problem exactly?
they'd still be more entertaining than that dragon boss from your video
Dragon keeps fighting back and you have to actively avoid his attacks while going ham.
DMC enemies dont so you only have to go ham
Somehow DMC enemies are more entertaining
???
MMO
No job customization
Materia are ALWAYS just CRIT CHANCE and DETERMINATION for BIS
The fights area always just the same song and dance and your rotation is static as fuck with little deviation
I'm waiting till 8.0 to really see if they meant it when they said they're going to overhaul the jobs in the game in any meaningful way.
I really doubt that. What they did to BLM was kind of whack if you asked me.
Final Fantasy FPS spinoff would be cool. Only a spinoff though
you'll get even more homogenized shit
i wont be surprised when every role just has the same abilities across classes but with different colors
Dirge of Cerberus is the closest it can get.
motherfucker, they have been trying to sell you that bullshit since heavensward. if they haven't done it in 10 years, what makes you think they will in the next 10? this is what you get you delusional fucks.
fuck off back to your containment general
stagger and cooldowns are great when the combat is built around strategy and tactics but in FF16 enemies don't even have weaknesses or anything, which defeats the purpose of stagger and cooldowns. The combat designer of DMC5 did the combat of FF16 andto be honest I don't know what was he thinking when he made this shit but assume it wasn't completely his fault. YoshiP always planned this game to be a very casual and brainless FF game for some reason.
This is the perfect marriage of skill, tactics and strategy that this industry has ever seen:

Best combat ever made.
FFXVI sold more than 3 million copies on A SINGLE PLATFORM in A DAY, a fuckin' day. Are you stupid? He is in that position because he knows what he is doing and no it won't be turn based unless he wants it to flop.
turn based doesn't sell
if they double down on this after expedition 33, they've lost the plot
au ra are kind to my dunesfolk boy.
nobody's falling for your lies anymore, xvinigger
FF1
Four niggas
FF16
One nigga
Imagine having fewer niggas than you started with three decades ago.
I dont care about RPG elements.
I just wish his games weren't so fucking easy.
Check video
Nothing special
I dont get it. Is this guy supposed to be bad or good?
Yes, because you go out of your way to stunlock and isolate them with air combat
But since you're often fighting groups of enemies, they should try to get you out of the sky, like Enigmas did in DMC3. Effective use of sound cues would allow you to dodge/parry/deal with the attack and go back to comboing.
Imagine it like this: you're juggling a basic fodder enemy but another fodder starts charging their scythe throw to hit you out of the sky, you throw a move that remotely juggles an enemy, parry the scythe, trick towards the fodder that threw the scythe, kick him a bit them goes back to hitting the original demon.
So you get have your high octance complex combat while the enemy is not notoriously unresponsive. What's the problem exactly?
We need to move past enemies that barely react to your attacks. At this point, every demon in both worlds knows Dante and know what he's capable of. How come none try to dodge his shit?
Dragon keeps fighting back and you have to actively avoid his attacks while going ham.
You're attacking his wings, neck, tail, arms, legs but there's no difference? Instead of a half-assed stagger bar, add an state and animation to signify that the enemy is feeling pain in that part, make it attempt a retreat to recover. ANYTHING besides retarded stagger. It is the one thing I wish DMC would take from Dark Slows. Make their enemies harder to fight but balance it out so that you don't lose combo and shit.
Somehow DMC enemies are more entertaining
Did not say that. Both enemies suck and follow an almost 50 year old template. It's time to stop.
I am entirely sure that stagger and cooldowns weren't his decision. It had to be some kind of "RPGs HAVE THIS SO IT MUST HAVE THIS TO BE A RPG" autism.
Gameplay is kind of cool but menu faggotry ruins it. The solution is the Gambit system from FF12.
The video also has another example of my gripes with enemies in games: three niggas wailing on Baldie and he just stands up like lmao
but didn't it sell a lot anyway?
Giving something validity because of how much other people purchased it is peak women behaviour. You have no thought of your own and your taste and actions are decided by other people.
Become a man and come back.
You sound like a weak retard. Only a woman cares what woman behavior is.
Immediate cope
Woman spotted.
Thanks for proving the point, retard.
I already told you to leave, lady.
Please, close your gaping vagina.
Try something new, midwit.
