Did anything else come out this year? Rebirth felt like it had so little impact (probably from being locked to one platform) but nothing else really had any impact. There was Metaphor which received a lot of false praise from people who didn't really play the game... maybe that's another contender?

hes great, people at the beginning thought he was broken, then people didnt really use him since they found other characters are better, but then later he becomes a beast again, vengeance mode is crazy strong and once you get used to block and build it, hes retardedly strong

Plus the AI is great at building up vengeance gauge for you so even players bad at blocking can get use out of him. The fact that he can buff and heal the party with it is icing on the cake. When I first started I was surprised he was a counter-focused character, given his speed in the OG I thought he'd sorta be Tifa 2.0 but they did a good job of giving each party member their own feel.

thats the least of it. The thing with vengeance mode is that its really, really good at building stagger and generating ATB, so you have no problem getting 2 atbs or staggering enemies EVEN without pressure

I enjoyed FF7 Remake more than I did Metaphor.
