These two are the same game.
These two are the same game
can you make the engagement bait at least a bit believable so i can give you a (You)
The closest game of that generation to E33 is possibly lost odyssey
same linear environments
same treasure chest branching paths
both have solid combat systems
same overworld
same core story of the Fal'cie and the Paintress
XIII is lambasted, E33 is the greatest game of all time
Nah, I actually like FF13. 33's closer to Persona 5 Royal in terms of status effects having random synergy with different elements, and the option to shoot your gun rather than attack.
As a Final Fantasy XIII fan
Fuck right off.
You insult one of my favorite games comparing it to this ugly trash.
P5's core loop is too different from either of those games. It's a social sim with dungeon crawling.
I only care about Lightning and her sister
As a Final Fantasy XIII fan
But vanille is more fuckable than the red head in 33.
I keep seeing people say this and it kills any interest I had in E33
meme game of the moment is shit
I'm not surprised
I am loyal to my wife
33's a good game, but I think it's being played by a lot of people who dislike JRPGs, because the big gap between XIII and 33 is the story.
For a game about art, Expedition 33 sure is mogged visually by a 14 year old game.
nice concept art
It's literally a screenshot from the game
no it isn't.
E33 is the game Square wished FFXIII would have been. I like E33 (easy GOTY) while FFXIII made me stop giving a shit about Final Fantasy.
E33 is the game Square wished FFXIII would have been.
Those were Lost Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles
33 isn't a linear hallway. And XIII doesn't have an overworld.
Quit spouting this retardation
13’s battle system is like a scaled down version of an rts. You’re not really controlling any specific person but more like directing the group to act in a certain manner, with the option to take control directly. It’s like driving in auto-pilot and just taking the wheels when you really need to. The strategy comes in setting up your party before hand and proper timing of command switches. Meanwhile, for all its praise, Exp 33’s battle system is quite simple at its core, with an emphasis on parrying and just making sure numbers are bigger.
33 isn't a linear hallway. And XIII doesn't have an overworld
Where do we start with this post
He's right.
13 was such a waste of potential. It's still good, but it could have been so much better. Both games hit the ground with foreign concepts & terminology but were handled in polar opposite fashion. Gommage, Lumina Converter, Chroma - all things that were mentioned in an understandable context but were shown in practice instead of repeatedly explained like Fal'Cie, Cieth, Pulse la'cie, etc.
It's still good
nah
ones a hallway simulator the other one is made by 33 people and is a real rpg
the best character was snow and he still sucked
That's called a promotional render. It's in the artstyle of the game, but you're right. I should post something from the game.
Here's what it looks like in-engine.
ones a hallway simulator
But enough about FFX
FFXIII doesnt have a parry mechanic
they both suffer the same way. at least ffx had the sphere grid.
Both games hit the ground with foreign concepts & terminology but were handled in polar opposite fashion
you say that but E33 throws most its concepts away with act 3 and just focuses on the family drama shit
This
wow what an interesting world they’ve built, I wonder how the intricacies of it works
lol nah, it’s just some lady’s fantasy, nothing has to make sense
13 has a lot of flaws, but it has the best lore in the entire series.
too bad 13 was so bland and souless
those digits
almost
XIII is genuinely comparable to Arthur C. Clarke.
It's great sci-fi.
wow what an interesting world they’ve built, I wonder how the intricacies of it works
oh wow it's a story that spans across multiple FF numbered games and spin offs?
Oh we cancelled a few of them
Ok bye!
Trolling?
But none of them had any connections to each other, just similar names.
12 is better than 13
I really don't know how anyone can like XIII. The gameplay is shit (you just switch between different stances), the game design is shit (corridors only), the story is uninteresting and all the characters are unlikeable (fuck the annoying kid, especially).
Ok I have to admit though, Lightning is hot.
You think you make GOTY and everything will be sugar and rainbows?
I also feel this way. that little kid is a faggot
I'm tired of this meme criticism.
There was nothing wrong with FFXIII's terms. They made sense in context over the course of the story.
The actual issues with the story were the poor pacing, unsatisfying payoffs, retarded protagonists, over-emphasis on melodrama at the expense of worldbuilding, and poorly written ending.
How to throw your opinion out the window: capstone it with a gooner remark
Replaying this again and man, there is so much padding. I said I wasn’t going to use the speed up feature, but I folded after the first 20 hours. And I forgot how boring IZJS has made the game in the beginning when you don’t have a lot of access to skills yet. Not to mention how the game is so blatant with its theme. It’s tries so hard with the political intrigue but the overall theme is like something you would find on Saturday morning cartoons.
No shit, but XII is still mediocre and boring
I also rank it on the lower end
Hmm, our audience can't connect with this war drama, we need a character for them to self insert as
I got it
which version are you play? zodiac age?
Did Square fix the 1440p resolution bug on FFXIII ?
bacsh is the main character I don't care what anyone says
Yes.
XII's combat is too boring.
It isn't JUST that you can automate it with gambits, it's that you have no reason not to 99% of the time. There's no twist or frills to it, it's ATB at its most barebones but it's in real-time. The "job system" in the re-release just split the license board into pieces, all the passives are the same, it's still just as boring and not comparable to the far superior job systems in the other games (V/Tactics/X-2).
The director left halfway through development and it shows in the final product. It's half-baked.
Can't wait for the mass-seppuku when E33 wins GOTY.
The gameplay is shit (you just switch between different stances)
It's quite good. There are just at least 10 hours of buildup before it takes off the training wheels.
FFXIII-2 pushed the combat even further and had some incredible bossfights with XIII's gameplay out the gate.
the game design is shit (corridors only)
Well no, it becomes open world halfway through.
But regardless it makes up for its level design with its visuals, which look impressive to this day. Not everyone will like that, but it's the tradeoff. Confined level design on 7th gen hardware for some of the best looking environments ever designed.
the story is uninteresting
This is a skill issue.
and all the characters are unlikeable (fuck the annoying kid, especially).
I can understand this. I don't agree, but I can understand it, especially if you're playing with the English dub.
Part of the point is that the party is angsty and at odds with each other until they come together as a family by the end.
But do you really not find a single one of them likeable from the start? Not even Sazh? One of the most likeable dads in gaming?
if you want to know my favorite ff game it's tactics on ps1.
Worst, I think it’s actually better to automate it because you lose milli-seconds when playing manually.
Who cares about the goy awards?
ff12 is super easy. Just grind for a bit. you get OP quick
E33 has such a drab color palette, every video and image I've seen of it is just a brown and black smudge, legit the reason I haven't tried it yet.
sounds like a (you) problem
Yeah and there's also some other dumb shit like how characters' "canon" weapons (e.g. Balthier's gun) give them slower animations.
it's an acid trip dram
Just keep in mind, it’s the opposite of a polished turd. There’s a lot of heart and passion, but man, it is super in-polished and has a lot of jank. If the core of the game wasn’t so great, and we were just judging it from a performance point of view, it’s not getting higher than a 7/10.
Hiroyuki Ito is a hack.
I don’t think anyone has ever said said of these games are hard. Just that when you start doing the same fights in these samey corridors over and over again, you start wanting things to go as fast as possible.
Nothing about it seems higher than a 7/10 in quality.
Lolno it doesn't take off at all. I remember giving up after 20-something hours of switching stances or whatever it was called.
The "open world" is just empty land with some MMORPG quests (if we can call that quests), I don't even know what it's doing here. It has no purpose at all.
The nigger acting all kawaii with his fucking bird? Hell no.
Not liking Sazh is one of the gayer takes I've ever seen on this board.
I honestly didn't even remember his name or what he does, so I guess that's a good point. I remember the most annoying ones: the kid and Vanilla.
Anon, what’s the purpose of anything in a game. You go off the beaten path and what do you get? A better item? Some story tidbit? That’s exactly what’s here. Sounds like you’re just a hater, quoting the same exact quotes some internet hater told you to. I serious doubt you even played it.
I played it when it released, thinking it would be like older Final Fantasy. It totally killed my interest in the series and I've never played it again. I never finished it.
I remember the open world very well, because at the time people were saying "don't worry you'll get an open world halfway through the game and it won't be as linear". When I reached the open world there was nothing at all, no fun, just emptiness, my only goal was then to finish it as soon as possible.
And yes, I'm totally a hater on that game, because I've never been more disappointed in a game than this one. I expected something.
Vanille is maybe the most questionable, just because of the direction they gave the voice actor
youtu.be
Although I like her as a character, and I do kinda like her voice.
Hope (the kid) becomes a genuinely good character about halfway through. I feel like you've gotta be a little heartless not to feel anything for his story.
