The PS Portal is absolutely fine if you just want to play games around your house, like in bed or on the toilet or something. I've had zero issues streaming with it and it's super comfy to be able to play your games all around the house. It's no different from pulling your Switch out so you can lay back on the couch and not be glued to the TV.

Everything I've seen game-wise between PS5 & XSX is a ping-pong. A lot of JP devs also not optimizing/caring for Xbox side of things either due to having to make it run on Series S as well (which takes dev time away from the X version).

This only happened because 2020 made it impossible for anyone other than scalpers and bots to buy a PS5. It's also why Sony began porting their games to PC, nobody was buying games for a console they couldn't buy yet.

God of War Ragnarök came out two years after launch and was still a cross gen game. I think sony wants the large player base of the previous gen no matter how well the newer system sells. they will want that 75+ million player base for their future games

While scalping had a lot to do with it, launch games have always been a bit of a shitshow for publishers because you're trying to sell to a considerably smaller install base but also one that JUST bought a big ticket item and so are unlikely to splurge on a whole bunch of games. But they did it because developing cross gen was far too hard and costly. Until it wasn't. When your PS5 is basically a super enhanced PS4 with a source compatible SDK, well suddenly the tradeoff on being a launch title for a new console vs. a last gen game for a large install base is no longer a tradeoff. You just make it cross gen and if anyone complains about graphics, the public will run a smokescreen for you about how it "had to be a cross gen game."

They've all had some stupid excuse to exist.
XboneX: Microsoft fucked up and make a weaker console than the PS4 that cost more. They then attempted to make the most powerful console that cost more instead.
PS4 Pro: Papa sony TV division was selling loads of 4K TVs and they didn't want to be selling a 1080p console to go with them. Not to mention technical problems with 4K upscaling meant people's brand new 4K TVs were giving them 60+ms of input lag. Solution: make a 4K output capable PS4 and bolt some extra shader cores to the APU to give it some upscaling oomph to fake a 4K image.
PS5 Pro: They are worried about UE making the PS5 version of games 600p smeary TAA garbage while simultaneously afraid that AMD isn't going to come out with a 5x APU for the same price for their next console. So they had to make a test product for PiSSeR upscaling and see what the market reaction was.

In each case the base models sold better than the enhanced models so the only reason to keep doing them is just to trial an experiment.

If you have PS5 Plus Extra or Premium Last of Us Part 1 is on there and is the one that has impressed me the most so far with it's PS5 Pro patch, looks so damn sharp and was the game that cemented my satisfaction with the Pro.

Unfortunately CD Projekt Red are fucking idiots and it's just the base PS5 version 2077 runs on the Pro. Stabler framerate but that's it. A Pro patch done could offer so much with the game.

My only caveat with the PS5 Pro is that it hasn't got a patch for all the heavy hitters that it should have.
