No, it works really well here in Bananza because you actually have to explore the environment to find stuff, that is what makes collecting things fun, the exploration. What made Mario Odyssey an inherently shitty collectathon is that the game is just handing you moons all the time for doing absolutely nothing at all. Odyssey is a boring, bloated mess as a result.

Nah, he's perfect now, previous design just wasn't as good with expressions, now he has a far far wider range and the game puts a big emphasis on this with his facial expressions, the only thing I don't like is the fur, it only looks good at a distance, close up it looks really meh, the fur on the other Kongs looks way better but obviously lacks the same level of dynamism, if they fix anything before the game launches, I'd say fix the resolution, why is this 1080p, what will res be in docked mode? 540p

It's the right priority but this game visually doesn't look more advanced than what you would get on the Switch, sans the destruction.

And Red Faction didn't capitalize on it's destruction for gameplay opportunities anywhere near as hard as what we've seen from Bananza.

The mesh deformation itself is probably not particularly taxing for the CPU/GPU,
just that most games aren't built around it as a game mechanic so they can't justify the development and design cost

I think it's more the sheer scope of the game while doing this, still disappointing though.

What people are mostly doing is cherrypicking specific facial expressions from specific screenshots they don't like if you haven't noticed. The solid new design being so good is much more obvious when you focus on the neutral expression like you just did. And we all know DK won't even have some of those goofier expressions in any future party game and sports spin-offs like Mario Kart anyway. Bananza is simply pushing what is possible to be done with the design before they settle on specific ones in the future.
