Playing arena made me hate all weapons, these games aren't fun at all when you play against people who know what they're doing.

Can't beat simplicity.
That thrust on the heavy attack makes me cream myself.
For DS2, I like the Murakumo. For 3 gimmie the BKS.

On the contrary, it makes me feel alive when someone with the same meta build they found on youtube that everyone uses gets paired up with me, and I completely destroy them with a basic unenchanted lance.

I love the uchigatana. can get it very early on, it's great by itself or can be turned into a boss weapon. low stamina cost as well.

DS3 is when I ended up switching to a Greatsword in the last half. The Halberd is amazing, but it lacks stopping power by the end of that game. Sadly, that persists into Elden Ring, where a singular halberd is just a poor choice compared to everything else. I mean, it's viable, but it's not nearly as strong as it was in DeS or DaS.

how fucked up in the head does someone have to be to willingly play dex shit in dark souls 1? you do next to no poise damage, have to dodge and roll a lot or humiliate yourself and actually use a shield for parries and shit, can't really interrupt anything.. it's such a chore when you can just bonk once or twice and move on

A lot of dex does insane damage, just like strength. A lot of what you said about poise and such doesn’t really matter for bosses since you have around the same stagger values against them with Dex weapons if you’re attacking enough.

This might sound confusing, but this is the reason why I like them. It's satisfying to annihilate the health-bars and poise of enemies with single slow considered swings of a ginormous weapon. Same goes for non-Souls games whether Monster Hunter/TF2/whatever

desu Zwei is the only bad greatsword in DS1. Literally every other great sword is great

Also infused with Cold it scales well - gets C/C/C across Str/Dex/Int. Slapping bosses with two status effects is great. I struggle to use anything else in ER except for boring old Quality Sword & Kite Shield.

Man that makes me nostalgic as fuck. My first ever DS1 run was doing a regular halberd into a randomly dropped BKH from the knight in darkroot basin.

Zwei is way stronger than the Black Knight Ultra Greatsword. Honestly that’s the worst of the Black Knight weapons, the Sword Halberd and Axe are just much more fun.
