Does Phoenix point work now? I remember playing it forever ago(before the last dlcs) and the lack of optimization ruined it for me. I have litteral 5 to 10 minute loading screens every cut.

Last real update was a hotfix on August 2022, but the game is more or less slightly better optimized
Loading times are still shit but not 5-10m long
Of course it has a whole bag of its own differences from XCOM that might be issues but that's for you to decide

overwatch is OP and makes the game too easy
it's still OP in Xcom 2 but now you only have 10 turns for every mission so the game is unfun
also there's like 5 other timers counting down to ruin your game
nuxcom failed because it sucks ass, i killed the chosen assassin chick and realized i wasnt having fun with all the bullshit RNG shots and there's too much to worry about and uninstalled.

3 has some pace problems and writing is just serviceable but overall it is a good game. I guess I can count it as an exception.

Maybe I should give it another try with some mods or smt ... other xcom clones didn't really do it for me.
I like XCOM 2 but it was a massive downgrade from XCOM 1 in a lot of ways with lots of features that just annoyed the shit out of me but at least it was a XCOM game despite all of it.
I never bothered with "XCOM 3" Chimera Squad because it looked like complete garbage.
Probably not interested in an actual XCOM 3 if it happens.

nuxcom 1 enemy within (the one with the DLC) is pure kino. the less you know about it beforehand the better. and it is even somewhat realistic. the aliens are actually threatening and you feel the nonstop desperation of fight for survival. the only LMAO is how you have to unlock 6 man size squads. that is a joke. in my xcom the only restriction player would have on squad size were resources.
the second game is like playing generic fantasy RPG, the whole floating base shit doesnt make sense and aliens would discover it within days, not to mention the other nonsense in it like sprinting around battlefield with katanas, dodging bullets like matrix style and the nonstop timers even in missions where it is you who is ambushing the fuckers.

Howcome games from 90's like original xcom or jagged alliance modeled bullet trajectory so you had stray bullets hitting stuff behind or around enemy while nuCOMs just says fuck it and throws a dice adding arbitrary penalty for half cover and no cover. Its so stupid you could spread 100 soldiers in front of alien and around him and shoot burst with machine gun knowing they are safe and wont get hurt cause bullets dont exist. What a lazy design.
