Do you still play?

I have never played maplestory

i played it. last time was in 2012 or so

Used to play until my computer detected it as a trojan.

meipu suto-ori

I grew up on it during my early teenage years. My big brother showed it to me and I got hooked quick. It was the most fun game to me at the time. We both played a lot together and did party quests and bosses. I used to main Luminous and he mained whatever was meta. It's been a few years now since I last touched the game but I wouldn't mind hopping on some Maplestory private server again.

How the fuck did Maplestory 2 shit the bed so hard and have no staying power, yet this game is still going even with its P2W gacha bullshit? Sunken cost fallacy or stockholm syndrome?

Played it circa 2007, got to level 33 or so before getting bored of endless grinding
tried again in 2010ish and got to ~55 before again getting bored of grinding
how the fuck did people play this game, it got repetitive really fast

game just wasn't that good
allegedly it still generated profit, the profit wasn't to nexon's liking so it got axed
honestly for the best, outside sexo chibis and customization, it would take a lot of resources for it to be exceptional

do you still play

I wish I didn't

wow it's almost like the vast majority of players play on the server without the p2w gacha shit

sexo chibis and customization,

That's literally all I want and I'm pissed I never gave 2 a shot. BA scratches the itch enough but I'd like more actual gameplay.

I tried to get back into it numerous times, but the exact same story happens every time over the past five years.
I make a character. I reach level 200 on that character. I try to go down the Arcane River on that character.
I reach Lachelein, get fucking tired of grinding the Arcane River, and stop playing for months.

God how I've come to hate the Arcane River.

even if you didn't, you'd just end up back to it anyway

I played for years on and off between the ages 11-18 but decided to delete my account when I was 18 to quit forever

Past few years I played on some private servers to get my fix of nostalgia T_T F4

it's hard for me to find the right private server with proper fun. i'll get really into one and then it goes offline, but it's been a few years

I tried to get back into it but the NPCs that were on the noob island boat was such a soulless replacement for real player interactions that I ended up quitting.

I played it a bunch growing up. Tried getting back into it again via private servers and it made me question why I ever stuck with it as long as I did. That being said I still get the urge to return despite that, hoping things will be different.

Do you still play?

Currently trapped in the pitch waiting room

i pray for you bro
personally never even got to doing the actual pitched grind before i took my break, hell i've only been up to darknell and hard lomien, except i will NEVER do hard damien again until i can origin him from 20-30% to 0. boss fight at last phase is total ass otherwise
I keep thinking about coming back around, but then im reminded of the horrorposting of people going dry for months
also despise starforce with a burning passion

Months?
More than a year of killing Hdamien and zero eyepatches

SF update on December to make better for reg but worse for reboot

I'm 7 set pitched and still in the fucking waiting room, Inkwell fix your fucking game

but worse for reboot

...despite most people playing on there
holy fuck so much for going west

Even if maplestory didn't have the worst gameplay imaginable the comfy 2000s atmosphere is never coming back

i want Maplestory but the devs take the OSRS approach and actually make it a comfy and good game that respects your time (at least to some degree)

Remember that Korea got rid of reboot altogether so they no longer balance for it anymore.
That being said, the new SF system favors having(ie buying) dupes more.
We can only hope Steam integration generates more money so GMS can make more changes of its own beyond more senpaitachi.

no
1% players clearing end game content is TOO much, it has to be 0.01%

Well i'd imagine they dont start with the full game from scratch but more so that you have like up to 3rd job or something and they keep adding content as the game goes on, eventually developing new content that is better made and maybe more accessible in its future

7 set

nigga, I dream of being 5 set

yfw GMS(reg) clear ExKaling before KMS

Rate my Tanjiro.

Did Maplestory 2 even have combat? It looked like a dress-up game from the little I saw of it.

it was pretty barebones
if i remember correctly it was cooldown based

pitched waiting room

God that must be the fucking worst thing ever about reboot. No matter how much you play you can be fucked over by rng not even because you boomed your item but because the game never felt like giving you a copy to work with. In hindsight I'm glad I stuck with reg and didn't have to deal with any of the pure rng gates the game has from not being able to trade.

You guys are kinda fucked.
Changseop expect that 26* will become the norm after SF update

I have played it so many times over the years, but have never got passed lvl 50 on any class. Inevitably the people I play with get bored or wander off and stop playing and I lose all interest in soloing through the game.
I played as recently as a few months ago on some pre-Big Bang server that friends were playing on and again. Made it to 45 on a Priest and no one was playing so I uninstalled.
I enjoy the games world, but fucking eh is it all tedious to jump through the trading inflation hoops even on private servers where everything costs millions of mesos.

I did try it, like 20 years ago. Never made it far though.

Gotta commit to the game to keep pets alive/get daily rewards

No half ass efforts

I'll uh, get back into it when I have time consistently to get back into it.

I didn't get that at all from the star force patch. It was never said that it's expected players will need to go after it, and until new bosses are released with the higher starred gear as the expected requirement 22* is still good enough for everything.

Anyone else playing on Legends? I reached 87 with a friend and it's being fun. Rates are not crazy and economy hasn't gone to shit yet.
Although it seems every single fucker there is 120+ and funded.

i got filtered by legion grinding

I only play private servers when the friendgroup wants to play. Waiting for official classic servers. They'll never release, since nexon are cowards, but I'm still waiting.

im in the banesauce alpha
probably the best private server so far. hopefully when it launches there'll be a Anon Babble guild

game has like 50 different classes, i don't even know what to play

Retards brought it to global without the P2W, but forgot to remove the annoyance systems that made you use the P2W.

Play all of them to 210.

Play whatever the fuck you feel like. I mained Shade expecting it to be underpowered like it was in the past but it's really good nowadays.

Play anything except Phantom, I don't think Nexon will ever fix that class.

grandislibrary.com/classes
You can use this website to get a general overview of all the classes. It would be difficult to go into how every class works but there's some things common among the 5 main branches that can give you a starting point of what you would like.

Warrior: typically lower mobility but has some form of damage reduction against bosses

Mage: usually uses a teleport instead of a flash jump

Archer: average mobility, usually has a "hurricane" skill that you hold down to attack and can move while attacking

Thief: frail, high mobility, can have a "dark sight" that dodges certain attacks but ends once you attack

Pirate: can have a little bit of everything but not to the extent of other classes, maybe has a bit of an easier time surviving, maybe has above average mobility, etc.

There are exceptions to everything and you do get the best idea by actually playing the classes. Some that have stood out to me are Mihile (warrior with the highest amount of damage reduction and invincibility on any character through a parry mechanic), Luminous (mage that swaps between light and dark modes by using skills and enters a balanced state in between for stronger attacks), and Hoyoung (thief with temporary flight on top of the usual thief mobility). The only characters I would say to not try as your first are Mechanic and Phantom.

Also I forgot they ruined Aran, so there's that.

How?
