That's not true in the slightest. There's tons of tech that we've seen, and even the interludes have some neat tricks you can pull off. Charge jumps let you get way more tricks, and you can even charge jump onto other racers to bounce off of them and get another trick.

Wall riding, rail grinding, charge jumps, tricking off of waves in the water... the game looks incredible.
