is anyone excited for this? I'm seeing very little talk of it, even on Xitter, where most discussion around Kojima is if he likes the lastest movie on cinema or not.
I liked the first game well enough, but I'm not exactly craving more of it, also, I thin this sequel is making of of the weaknesses of this kind of game clear, the fact that several important characters that didn't die in the original game won't be returning due to their actors being too expensive or busy, like Del Toro's Deadman and and Qualley's Lockne.

yeah, i am. just finished the first one a month ago and now i'm invested. but i'm not expecting the gameplay to be that different so this isn't really a hype-like situation for me.

Just by adding new mechanics, like vehicles that can actually go off-road without getting stuck in small rocks, is going to be huge for the gameplay.
But what I'm most curious about is where the story can go from the first game? Will it leave the US? What happens to BTs now that Timefall isn't a thing anymore? Does Sam interact with Amelie when being Repatriated now?

Funny how Kojima announced that there's a Death Stranding movie in the works, seen completely unnecessary to me, but for now, all we know is that it's going to be a low budget A24 film, we don't even know if it'll follow Sam/Norman Reedus.

Which also explains why Kojima himself isn't directing it, he doesn't want his debut to be a low budget film without any big names attached.

You can actually see and hear Deadman in the trailers. They don't really need Del Toro since they have him scanned already. Someone else can do the mocap and voice.

People are so not ready for this game, last week journos got to play the game for the whole week and were allowed to play up to 30 hours! This is extremely unheard of to play in a preview event for this long. If you think this game will just be a delivery sim where you go from A to B then you're very mistaken. Kojima has been cooking hard the last 6 years and we all get to hear about it on may 8.

I think the delivery stuff will just be a small part of the game, remember "deliveries have been automated". I think later we will play as Tomorrow and her DOOM's level is so high that we get to even control BT's. KojimaKino is coming and the whole internet is sleeping on it.

I imagine secondary gameplay elements from MGSV/Peace Walker again, only instead of an army of soldiers doing stuff in the background for you, you're now managing fleets of drones and manipulating BTs to work for you.
Where the first one basically became off-road trucking simulator as soon as you got access to vehicles, I'd imagine the gameplay in the second will shift more toward escort missions in even more treacherous terrain. Instead of hauling stuff alone or dragging some platforms with you, you're protecting cargo vehicles from raiders, and making sure they doesn't get stuck.

If people turning into nukes if they die is still a thing, I figure lethal force will be more common (if not encouraged) and disposing of the bodies can also be automated.

Rewind your memory before DS came out, nobody knew what the fuck it was going to be. With its cryptic trailers. The first true gameplay video without guardrails was shown 1 month before release. Hype could not be transmitted, word of mouth: about what? What's in the box?
Even after release people seemed hesitant to play it, relying on many various youtube reviews out of fear of diving in. Because of this confusion many skipped this game in the time it took them to think about something else.
Today everybody knows about DS to the point it gets mentioned by people who've never played it. Vidya experts (you) know what's in the game. The mainstream gamers know what to expect. Even casuals can conjure up a rough image of DS: that delivery game with the baby.
This certainty about the product is crucial when it comes to marketing anything.

Other stars have aligned with this one: PS5 has no games BAD, the developers themselves now had a greater understanding of their own process, Kojiprod was more secure financially because DS1 wasn't a bomb, Kojima went with a more regular game this time and dialed back the experimental weirdness which again reduces the confusion in the minds of mainstream players. Expect shooting, expect openworld, expect movie-like cutscenes, game seems to have a dedicated fanbase, then all that's required is one thought "might pick it up, seems worth anybody's time".
Only a great tragedy could crash this space train. I expect a blockbuster.

How could i forget the apparent widespread fatigue about conventional gameplay, games. This lassitude echoes even within casual spheres in society, these people may have no idea and no feelings of their own but if they say it then it is fact for them. For some reason I was 100% sure that Mads Mikkelson is the villain of DS but it turned out he's literally who and Troy Baker is the villain. Apparently he's also the villain of this game and I don't understand why I'm supposed to be intimidated by him if Norman Reedus beat the shit out of him already.

But he has been incredibly lucky many times and Death Stranding 2 is poised to release in a time where people want less conventional games
So unless he decides to make Death Stranding 2 into a generic action game (which is still possible judging by the trailers) it will probably wildly successful

All memes aside, Death Stranding is an extremely boring game. I know there are people who love anything Kojima puts out, and that's perfectly fine, but this series is everything bad about MGS, times three. Deeply forced and unfunny dialogue, endless cutscenes, clunkiest shooting and traversal mechanics known to man, all in plain 2020 where both shooters and movie games are figured out as a genre. I'm actually sure 2 will be a better experience, but there isn't a single fault in DS that's excusable in this day an age.

Death stranding is an extremely boring game for people who need constant handholding and stimulation yes.

DS should just be like MGSV but MC is a normal guy (meaning if he gets spotted it's over) and the goal is to cross a long distance that is occupied by enemies.

It looks incredible, I'm very hyped. I think the media lead up to it has been pretty mediocre in comparison to the first game though. There was still so much mystery as to what the first game was as it was being revealed and now people feel like they know what to expect. Thats a big mistake though, the release date trailer left me with the feeling the game is going to be quite a bit different than the original. The only hesitancy I have is with wood kid over low roar, the music was a big part of what made the game good and this new French cuck cannot hold a candle to low roar

Just watch a movie of it. The gameplay sucks, do you really want to wander around an empty environment for 50 hours just to see the story? You can't even die in the game, that's how casual it is.

it's like mgsv, play efficiently and you'll enjoy it. but if you ignore the mechanics specific to the game and brute force it it's basically just reading a weird book with a bunch of extra steps.

I'm excited for it but I play on PC so by default I'm avoiding all media around it to avoid spoilers. Until I've played it, I'm not going to be discussing it with anyone at all other than to say it's the only game I'm looking forward to playing.

I think a console only launch is going to harm the game because I'm sure I'm not alone in it. I'll happily engage with media online but for me, that's an extra year from release at minimum.

Yes, m8llions of people are excited for DS2. But unlike the modern AAA slop that run on MANUFACTURED hype, DS' team does not waste time and resources on viral marketing. Plus, mystery and discovery are ig parts of the DS' appeal, so people don't want to speculate and spoil things too early.
