It can be but for some reason this game has one of the sweatiest, bitchless, try harding playerbases out there that treat every match like it’s some grand finals.

I was able to try it out just before release on the WiiU and it hooked me since then. Even if you're not into the characters, it's a solid shooter with perfect implementation of gyro aiming.
However 3 isn't getting any new content and the ones remaining don't fuck around. Most are stuck in their rankings so moving up is a struggle.

well it is a team game on a nintendo system, 80% of your games outside of top level will be littered with children. sometimes you have to go try hard to carry timmy. and it's even better when you get matched up against past teammates that shit the bed, I always tried twice as hard to make sure they didn't get to play the game

it's because the franchise is ten year old now and has retained most of its playerbase which means that you've got megaspergs who've been sleeping in the games for a decade and have reached an insane level (the terrible matchmaking ensures you'll eventually face them) and 3 is notoriously more focused on cutthroat combat encounters due to the chokepoint filled map design and tacticooler making the pace even faster

There was some technical reworking between 2 and 3. Most notable for me was that tentacles were full physics objects instead of regarded alongside other animations. The result being that they clipped horribly.
