I miss some of the design choices in Vista. It was still following in the same veins as XP, a system meant for computer users, not normies, where you had to know how it worked and it was aiming to give you a more compact view of information. 7 was the first place where they started the trend of prettyfying everything by adding huge unnecessary margins and bigass fuckyou icons so the blind people can more easily click on them.

I just wish that somewhere along the lines they'd fixed up the old panel elements only so much that they are properly hardware accelerated. Shit like mmc.exe still uses broken ass win98 era rendering code, which seriously lags down on modern hardware. I even have a few programs which run 10 times slower because their ancient GUIs fail to update fast enough, so a 1 second scan takes 4-5 seconds while the percentage counter slowly crawls up.
Maybe that's only a AMD driver issue though, I don't know.

But the win10 start menu is actually quite comfy, once you customize the icon column. Remove the ads, put the shit you most frequently use there grouped by functionality (including things like control panel links). Less clutter on your desktop.

Dunno about the jap font thing but you can use bottles + toggle japanese windows 7 in settings for locale. Also don't forget to install 7zip in there and use it to extract compressed files some file compressions will output garbage with garbled file names even on Windows.

Linux doesn't need to conform to standards that not even Windows tries to conform to.
They release a new Windows version in what is basically an alpha state and it takes at least one release cycle to be usable.
So by the time people are forced to switch, there is no reason to switch to the "bad Windows" and so the "bad Windows" keeps its reputation while the "good Windows" is redeemed because the newest Windows is back to being shit.
There was never a reason to switch to Windows 98/ME/Vista/8 until 2000/XP/7/10 became usable and the previous "good Windows" became unsupported.
It doesn't help that they are forced to develop a new OS while using what is essentially a pre-alpha OS to do it.

Both Japanese and Chinese are hard to learn in different ways. Pronunciation and tones are what makes Chinese difficult to learn. Japanese has simple pronunciation, but multiple different readings for the same Han character whereas Chinese only has one for each. I think that grammar is also slightly more difficult to learn in Japanese, but both of those languages have easier grammar than any European language T B H.

I was an early adopter, when father didn't read anything aside of update, so updated the PC from XP to vista. Had many mysterious bluescreens, felt sluggish and i had some issues installing stuffs at times too. I don't exactly remember what, but that vista didn't let me do it, maybe compability issue or something. Deleted and reinstalled XP. Little later when win7 was out, father did it again, becoming early adopter for win7, but i didn't had any issues with it on the same PC. Later we got to 8. I hated the ui, but didn't had any issue with the OS itself. 10 was the same. Vista was really shitty in the early parts.

Dual boot? It's what I'm planning on at least, use windows for everything Linux can't just try to not use 11 as much as possible.

Vista was pretty cool, I remember it fondly, it felt like the future compared to XP. What killed it is that it came too early for the hardware that was available at the time and was a resource hog. Also people weren't used to the OS babysitting the user and warning about .exe files from unknown sources. To understand that you need to know how statcounter works.
It queries the user agent of your browser, which tells it what browser and OS you are using. If it doesn't know, then it spits out unknown, if you spoof your user agent, then it gives back the fake user agent data. If the user agent does not give back a response that statcounter recognizes, then it returns "unknown".
I'm just going to guess that the peak in april/may coincides with some unintentional Pajeet DDOS caused by a bad browser that didn't have a recognizable user agent.

I upgraded to Windows 11 a few days ago because fuck it, why not. I did the needful and debloated it with one of those free online tools and it's even more snappy and responsive than Windows 10 was. And it looks way fucking better aesthetically. I can't even complain, I'm actually happy with the upgrade. Game performance is the same as far as I can tell too, maybe even a little bit more performant in the lows.
