ITT straight up bad games but people tell you is good

product of its time and early internet battlenet you had to be there, also one of the best soundtracks ever

Gay thread with gay OP

The game still holds up today, it absolutely wasn't a product of its time. It's still the best ARPG ever made and every single game since is trying and failing to recapture the magic.

Same problem with RTS games and metroidvania ones, they're all worse (though some are really good still) compared to their respective #1's

People of that time have bad tastes and are probably faggots

I shall make weapons from your bones!

You're a faggot

enjoyed this game when it was first released desu , not too much but I got on board for a bit because my niggas was playing it
that shit used to be cray doe nah mean like, niggas was sellin accounts online and shit was fuckin wild b idk if people still do that type of shit

Diablo 2 is an engineering game, and people who're bad at math or just dont like it will never understand why it's so good.

There are only like, five games I like. They are the only good games. And you're not cool enough to be invited.

You have poor taste in video games. I am right; you are wrong. End of discussion.

I remember finding Level 99 characters on accounts used in an internet cafe as a kid. It dawned on me much later how often somebody had to come in and play his char and for how long.

they just cheated
all the top players cheated and botted
i know, i know, you didn't
and you also didn't have any hrs or rare drops

everybody had cheated level 99 characters

thats the gayest take I ever read

In high school I had Diablo 2 on a USB drive and would play it in the school library. You can't do that shit with modern games.

Diablo 2 was probably 15 years old when you did that, and not a modern game.

Why? He's right.

half the skills are traps and ruin your build

most builds can't complete hell

there is almost no class balance at all

you get 1 respec per difficulty until hell

attributes are largely irrelevant to the game

hr might as well not exist

no repeatable content except for farming so you can farm faster

skinner box that people sink thousands of hours into

If you want to play d2, beat Normal then decide. Because after normal you have to willingly choose to waste time and struggle against bullshit. If you want to do that, then good for you. Most people don't.

There was a time when posts as bad as OP would be a bannable offence.

NOOO IF YOU PLAY AT THE HIGHEST DIFFICULTY FOR 9999 HOURS IN PVP IT ISN'T BALANCED AND GETS BORING IT SUCKS!

It's a game for 20 year olds to play with their friends a few hours a week
ultra-meta 110% no life fignuts ruined this genre by insisting the focus be on endless endgame grinding rather than a fun campaign you can play again with a new character later

Change this to the Lord of Destruction cover and I agree.

ultra-meta 110% no life fignuts ruined this genre by insisting the focus be on endless endgame grinding rather than a fun campaign you can play again with a new character later

Jesus man, ive been saying this for so many years. The modern Arpg audience is cancer. Campaigns arent even considered content to these people, just an inconvenient obstacle before getting to the almighty endgame where they just do repetitive bullshit endlessly. D2 was so good that by the end of it you wanted to do it all again with a new char. And the respec limitations meant you would play each char 10 times to get the most out of the character. Diablo 3 was the beginning of the end and the sad part is that D3 is where 90% of the current arpg audience started playing the genre.

Are skele mages worth speccing at any point? Niggas die instantly in nightmare and i have my doubts if they'll even survive a quill rat in hell

my current build btw

Playing through Aria of Sorrow and I've gotta say I'm having more fun with that than SotN.

straight up bait but people respond anyway

Worst thing about D2R is that there's a 30 day period that requires you to connect to battle.net, even if you want to play online, that doesn't even work correctly. You can legit just turn your clock back a month and be able to play anyway.

the remaster rekindled my enjoyment of it

you want 1 poison skeleton mage so that he'll prevent bosses from regenerating health, but otherwise, mages stop being useful around act 4 of nightmare

I fucking love diablo 2. Pd2 adding controller support and wasd next month. Can't wait.

If you don’t like Diablo 2 than you just don’t like the hack n slash genre in general OP since it’s objectively the best entry

enigma was a mistake
prove me wrong

i 100% agree. items like that are too powerful. they need to nerf the runes needed for it or get rid of it

Filtered

D2 is one of those games that people get filtered by, I also did. Then I learned how to actually play and it's a fucking blast, it's mad how good it is when you look at it's age.

Easy, without enigma almost every class is irrelevant next to sorceress

kinda curious to know what game you started with and why d2 initially filtered you. Glad you saw the light

ITT OP is a moron

kinda curious to know what game you started with

umm abes odyssey on ps1 when I was a kid?

why d2 initially filtered you

not understanding stamina management, item hoarding, spending too much time comparing loot and shitty ass fucking build filtered me. Usually when people keep insisting that a game is good, you just don't get it, so learn nigga learn.

D2 is pretty gay. I had a real non-botted lvl 99 back in the day. No idea why I did that.

The main strength of D2 is it atmosphere anyways, not its gameplay.

No, they suck ass. You're way better off maxing something else instead like CE.

Diablo 1 was like the first isometric ARPG with real time combat. before that you had turn based isometric RPGs. YOu had a few first person RPGs with real time combat but no one remembers them because they werent as good. Then D2 was the second serious attempt at an ARPG with real time combat. The people who had good taste were playing Diablo 2, the hipster nerds were playing turn based games, the really good ones were made with ascii. So if you wanted a good RPG back in the day it was either real time combat DIablo or ascii art graphic RPG.

20 clay golem, 20 skele 20 skele mastery, 20 corpse explosion
1 amplify, 1 decripify

thats the best OP summon necro build for having shit gear
20 clay glem + decripify slows bosses to a crawl and lets your skeletons kill the boss, its not important for normal but very nice in hell mode.

I tried to play Diablo 2 after sort of liking PoE and just couldn’t get into it at all. It definitely does not hold up today.

This is the dumbest shit I've ever read. Almost every single thing that you posted is a lie.

it does hold up, tard
tastes differ
i never played diablo 2 back then, only picked it up recently
and I love it
it's comfy and addictive
the setting I also like

D2 is great because it's challenging. 3 and 4 are brain dead games for babies where you spam your cooldowns as much as possible and never die.

Nigga, Zelda 1 is an isometric game with real time combat...

It's bizzare that with the remake they decided not to do too many balance changes even though they added things like terror zones and new keywoards. Would it have really been that hard to just buff some of totally unusable crap like skele mages or bear when 90% of every ladder is sorc/pala?

challenging

lol

sorc and paladin dominates the ladder because of trading, they require less gear than other classes to bot farm efficiently

zelda 1 isnt really an ARPG. you have 3 stats, there isnt really character building. Diablo was the first isometric ARPG game with real time combat that was actually good. The second best dungeon crawler at the time was rogue or nethack, ascii based games.

because the way to actually balance the game would be to nerf the fuck out of teleport and hammerdin and it would cause people to seethe uncontrollably so they just went all in on the shitter playstyle of buffing 1 ability to kill everything in 1 hit and they ruined hybrid bow/jav zon and added anti immunity charms.

sundering charms were a good addition. you can farm with whatever build you want now

the problem wasnt the immunities the problem was the retarded synergy system and retarded players who refused to use more than 1 element.

Sunder charms are basically the balance team surrendering to the minmax autists and turnign the game into easy mode letting them make OP 1 button brain dead builds

Hes right though. An inexperienced player will a bunch in Act 1 alone. Obviously that doesnt apply if youve been playing for 20 years. I think I died once or twice in D3s entire campaign, I was killing bosses before they could say their 2 lines of dialogue. You can get to level 50 in D4 in like an hour and a half, piss easy. Theyre console games for the masses. Its why PoE2 blew people away (at first) because they were met with an actual challenge

YOu had a few first person RPGs with real time combat but no one remembers them because they werent as good

Yeah, because Kings Field, Ultima Underworld, Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore, and a billion other games didn't exist before Diablo. No one remembers those except for a lot of people. Even zoomers make threads about them on Anon Babble sometimes.

The second best dungeon crawler at the time was rogue or nethack, ascii based games

No one gave a fuck about those during the 90s. Kids like you just make that claim now because Youtube told you that was the best dungeon crawler ever made.

and now tell me WHY it is the best ARPG ever and what this magic is, you are talking about you nostalgia ridden faggot.

the witcher 3

no one makes threads for those shit games and the hipster nerds were absolutely playing nethack in the 90s.

its fun to pretty quick playthrough unlocking new difficulities give you better loot :D

No they weren't. The dipshit streamer that programmed you is wrong.
