What weapon is the purple art using. If it's a melee weapon, the melee atk, if it's a ranged weapon then ranged atk. For the skell, since arts are tied to specific weapons, you just need to learn what it is. Phoenix is ranged for instance.

Phenomenon and Astrollibium are crazy good regardless if you're using the saber for support or offense.
If you're using it as your primary damage weapon, Starfall Rondo hurts like hell but you still want the two other melee arts to do damage while you're waiting for its tertiary cool down.
The TP arts are meh. Aside from two of them being beam locked their ratios aren't even as good as the melee arts. (Rondo has a cooler animation anyway)

Couple questions. How do I stop getting fucking one shot by everything? Are some enemies supposed to be Skell-only fights or something? Those roaming floating robot guys all over Sylvalum just wreck me even when I'm 10 levela above them.

Second, should I be using miranium for other things now that I'm capping the A&Ms left and right? I don't want to overcap but don't find myself buying augments/fuel very often

Galactic cataclysm despite being beam has a hidden 'launch' property on top of being AOE which can make it handy now and then. Sky sunder is just why bother when ether builds outcompete complicated affliction strats

Check your resistances. The Xe-doms roaming Sylvalum have a lot of Gravity attacks, which you likely have a negative rating for if you've been equipping Heavy gear. The defense stat is essentially worthless for ground combat since the reduction is so minimal, which makes Heavy armor in general really bad.

With miranium, if you have some spare and aren't crafting anything in particular, you can use it to open slots for extra augments for your weapon/armor at L's shop after you finish one of his affinity missions.

From what I understand Custom:WP up works only for the weapon it’s attached to and ranged attack up increases the skell overall power so you want custom on the cannon and range attack up on your other shit

alot of the game is unfortunately getting one shot, figuring out the art element that fucked you up, and coming back with stat resist augments

Best weapon to break appendages are the SA and ME M-Missiles, as they can target appendages you normally can't target in a Skell.

There's different ways to go about it but the most popular is using the dual guns to ghost walk and evade everything. Raygun/shield/ rifle/ psycho launchers topple lock. There's also reflect builds for photon saber/shield and i forget what else.

If you're still leveling up, buy armors from the shop you can't equip yet and unlock their augment slots so you'll have them ready when you're at that level.

Those are the only ones who can target ground-specific appendages while on Skells, yeah.
You can then craft Crush-Append augments to make them even better at breaking them.

It's the stat used to calculate damage of TP arts, instead of melee/ranged attack.
It also increases how much you heal with arts and soul voices.
For skells, it only influences healing, so it's pretty worthless there.

You can slap weapon attack up on the cannon itself and phys boost on the frame and fill in the rest of the slots with opening art. Easy skell damage cap which is enough to one shot everything but the Emperor and Telethia.

Photon saber has an art called Essence Exchange, basically enter a fight with a low lvl enemy make sure you can reach 777 tp with auto attack, use the art then kill the enemy, you can't use it as an opening art btw this will scramble your hp and you must avoid soul voices.

As you progress through the game, it's best to keep buying shop gear until you reach the final weapons and armor (and even then you'll be using some shop gear). So if you have miranium burning a hole in your pocket, buy the next level of armor/weapons ahead of time and start putting aug slots on them.

They're XL size enemies at or above your level. Don't be surprised that they wreck you.

I just beat the original ending. Now I can see a lot of ideas that were recycled for xc3. What still doesn't make sense is why when Lao died he dissolved into golden motes, this isn't origin so that shouldn't happened. Soon enough I will start what's popping story's chapter 13 but I want to keep doing side content for a while longer.

Yellow motes is how souls are represented in xenoblade.

If you want to do post-chapter 12 missions feel free to do so, chapter 13 itself only unlocks two affinity missions for the new party member. Just know that once you start chapter 13, it's better that you commit to it until the end because the state of the world changes somewhat significantly while it's going on.

Yes I probably will take my time with it. I want to keep making stronger skells. It's fun to grind and nuke everything. Also the worst thing about this version of the game by far is Vandham's new VA.

Ultimately with a perfect reflect build, you don't even need any ranged weapon arts, Photon Saber arts are enough.
Though I guess you could go Psycholauncher or Assault Riffle for topple options, or dual gun for ghostwalking out of the handful of reflect piercing arts.

What the fuck? There are items that spawn only at night? I explored all the caves in noctilum already even the one where there are hundreds of collectables and a boss sleeping and I still didn't find the one I need.

Collectibles are based on areas. Here's Oblivia's map for example.
What this means is that you can't just farm a random spot with a lot of collectibles and suddenly expect to find the one you need. You need to be in the specific area where that collectible is allowed to spawn and only then you have a chance of finding it.

There are a million ways to break the game in half but honestly that doesn't really happen until endgame/postgame. Before that it's just normal Xenoblade.

It really depends how hard you want to go. Material tickets are essentially a sequence break. Even if the available armors are weak all they need is an augment slot. That much can enable instant max overdrive. If grinding a class isn't feasible for Grand Procession you can also just stack damage augments which is more than what the story expects. The only thing to gate you is L's shop which you can get at chapter 5 and mobility to squad tasks, which is trivialized when you get your skell on chapter 6.

It's just his second phase. You have to follow him, shave off enough health and then he will start flying again, usually following with a decoy aura.
