The only information we have is that Aline was the head of the "Painter's Council" and that she failed in her duties by becoming addicted to Painter VR despite being the one who should've known better the most and teaching Renoir the dangers of said addiction prior to her fall.
Clea has apparently stepped in to fill the role and doesn't give a shit about the canvas drama outside of needing her father back immediately to help her IRL. She strikes me as very pragmatic and logical, so between her disregard for the painted world, the fact that the painters are said to create hundreds of works each, and the painted Alicia stating the people Aline created are illusions who don't even realize they are not real, I am inclined to believe the painted people are just things mimicking being alive. he is hard in terms of mechanics and attacks and while he has the biggest health pool in the game, if you're already blowing up enemies it won't be too difficult to do to him.

I strongly recommend everyone use the x2 health mod starting from act 3 and if you do the optional content before heading to Lumiere you should probably up it to the x10 health mod (i'm not joking, I used x5 health for Lumiere and enemies were still falling over, they're balanced around going immediately there after act 2).
