Used to work at target while I was in college and I remember kids waiting in line to play a game. One day I remember some commotion by the kiosks. When I got there I saw some kid had pissed his pants. I didn't get paid enough to deal with it. But watching him do this little shuffle towards his mom afterwards was the funniest shit I ever saw. Was worth it not to say something.

It's no different than how people think all VHS tapes were degraded even when factory new.
Are there shitty VHS tapes that are decades old and over recorded? Yes.
Are there cheap bowed out glass displays that people refuse to adjust the geometry settings on that are specifically made to alleviate this inaccuracy at varying views? Yes.

I think the term is more apt for people who grew up in faster moving cultural hubs here in America. A person born in 1996 in LA may have more in common with zoomers than someone who grew up in rural Kansas where the culture is more stagnant and slower.

The whole label system breaks down for me because of factors like that and others.
Consider that I was born in the 90s but poor so all of my childhood culture was hand-me-downs from the 70s and 80s. Cartoons, games, cloths, furniture, everything was at least 1 decade old, but often even older. The same was true for most in my ghetto.
