Is Magic: The Gathering a better card game than Yu-Gi-Oh?
Is Magic: The Gathering a better card game than Yu-Gi-Oh?
Fuck no.
Mana
Slows the game down to a snails pace, and makes it unplayable. And I say this as someone who can't stand modern Yu-Gi-Oh, but I can still tolerate actually playing it.
Yep. Shame that it’s become turbo pozzed like all Western media but it’s still fun to me
every card game now is decided from the first hand
are the characters on the right anyone in particular?
never played that gay anime shit
every format from spiral on is fucking garbage
everything before that is fine
meanwhile in Yugioh
Is diarrhea better than vomit?
I wanted to try Yu-Gi-OH but I don't want to sit through 20 minute turns, ready a god damn novel on every card and lose from T1 before I can even play my first card.
damn time spiral? imo the fall truly started to occur in avacyn restored
Cute girl with diarrhea is hot, cute girl vomiting is not. Some people prefer the inverse.
i meant spyral, yugioh format
Yes. MTG is the only good card game. Even though universes beyond annoys me since I just want MTG cards and not other stuff, mechanically and fluff wise almost all universes beyond cards are well made and even some "oops i accidentally the format" stuff like the One Ring I blame on printing new cards for older formats
No
When was the last time you tried? They've released tons of boomer friendly decks lately
At least on the art it's not. Yugioh had dumb shit from the start so they can get away with weird archtypes like Performapals or the Dragon Maids.
And even with that, they rather make their own bizzarro parody than just collabing with something, so it stays consistant in its own weird bubble
The actual game? No idea I'm not a fan of how... First turn heavy the game is, might as well withdraw if my first hand is shit, my oponent is gonna set their entire side of the field and dab on my corpse because I didn't draw my "No u" handtrap
Lmao people actually 100s to 1000s of dollars on this shit.
Amano Kefka and Nomura Seph soon
yes
Also the card art is miles better
When was the last time you tried?
never made it past the tutorial desu. I usually post about starting to play and get scared off. Shadowverse comes out next month so I'll just wait for that.
Yugioh is an absolute shitshow of a card game entirely propped up by whales. If it was released today it would be dead within 2 years.
Good. Never play modern yugioh, it's just solitaire.
I liked the Warhammer 40K cards
Post your favorite cards
Yes
B-B-B-BUT IT'S GAY
Ok, but it's still better
Imagine being worse than a gay game lmao
Right side is whatever... Its very corny and pandery but its something for the redditors to cheer over, of which they need most cards to signal these things to them.
Left side is wtf, gay fetish porn that shouldn't be in a cardgame that kids also play. Older men trying to push their fat naked bodies into view is not a celebration of gay lifestyles, it's exhibition fetish. It went over the line and I'd bet that internally at WOTC anyone who felt it was too much was too scared to say so. That or every wotc employee is trying their hardest to out-gay each other and there's no breaks and no one left to say "guys, this is tasteless."
Glad I quit this game a long time ago, but I still come into these threads to get a kind of sick enjoyment at seeing just how shitty MTG has gotten.
Depends. Magic the Gathering has the advantage of being much more popular in America, and having more formats aimed towards both a casual and competitive player base. In general, it is more resource focused, and you'll be planning multiple turns ahead. However, it's more expensive usually, and bogged down by an insatiable desire to release shitty new products all the time, including crossovers. Also, MTG is in a bit of an identity crisis rn, but I won't get into that right now. Yugioh, on the other hand, is generally cheaper with a better reprint policy, and more popular outside of the states than MTG. It's faster paced, and most decks have huge combos. Despite the fact that games are usually decided on turn 3, there's still a lot of back and forth because of the way the game is designed. However, it's still kind of "solitaire" and practices the same shitty business practices that MTG does. Overall it's literally just preference, I prefer Yugioh as a competitive game (shit prize pools though), but MTG is a better casual experience imo.
I come to these threads to see a non-existent MTG imagined by exaggerating retards so that I feel good that I no longer play it
Good for you. Game's still good, tho
Its corny and pander-y precisely because its part of a limited edition box for gay pride. Its an overpriced limited product aimed to pander to queers with money and no self respecting magic player would play these versions of the cards when the original versions exist and are 100x better looking
Ral and his twink wife vigorously frotting in front of those innocent goblins
the one with stripey hair is a main character, the other one has his own card but is just a minor character
both mogged by pokemon I'm afraid
Pokemon is a collectors game. Ive never seen a pokemon event with mostly children its almost always grown men and scalpers trying to outjew each other
I don't play MtG anymore because of my principles, but it's still way better than YGO. I genuinely think YGO players only play it to turn their brains off and pass the time, because the game itself became too braindead. Not talking about people who still insist in deckbuilding though, that still should be fun if you are willing to accept not making a meta deck.
Yugioh, on the other hand, is generally cheaper with a better reprint policy
Wait seriously? Yugioh's monetization is absolutely disgusting is MTG really even worse than it? How is that even possible?
I'm pretty happy that the crossover sets except for LoTR are not pozzed at all.
The current LotR right holders actually wanted those changes. DO NOT look up who owns it right now.
Every other crossover has been extremely true to its source material.
Its still a part of the game though. Its still fetish fuel being shoved in people's face. Like, if someone pushes out a turd into the community pool, everyone can just swim around it... but its there. And then people keep shitting in it, and you're trying to swim and they keep bumping into your leg. And you're going to be like "yeah its nasty but there's plenty of good space to swim at on this side."
Or like there's a fly in your soup, and you say "I think I'll not eat this" and then you go "hey man, don't stop eating. The soup's still good yo. Just eat around the dead fly."
Its time to leave the game when its in such an ugly state, I'm afraid. Just admit it, the game is a pale shadow of what it once was. Don't you miss when a magic card LOOKED like a magic card, like you post there? Its gorgeous. Its tasteful. This card and others from its set would look right at home sitting next to a chess board, like a thinking man's games for his mind. When you look at a modern MTG card, it looks like a tacky toy. The photobashed digital paint over of a black girl with side's buzzed, doing jazz-hands like she's a wizard, smirking all confident, is just childish slop. It looks like it belongs on the floor in Walmart. Worse yet some cards don't even look like cards anymore. They look like a roastie's tattoo, or a hot-topic tshirt, or whatever random gimmick that screams "creatively bankrupt". There's no world anymore. There's some paper thin marketing characters jacking off on every card. The old paintings weren't technically impressive, but they showed a depth of imagination and freedom of interpretation.
You'll never have the raw imagination coming out like in left, because right is what is being dictated to cheaper, lesser artists. The game is dead to me. And after shitting on Tolkien's rotting corpse I don't know how anyone could not feel shame at admitting they actually BUY magic cards.
its still part of the game
Secret Lair Drops are nonexistent for 99% of the playerbase. I have not seen anyone play those versions of the cards ORL and they dont exist on mtga or mtgo. As far as im concerned I literally ONLY see those posted on Anon Babble.
Most effects are standard things that are commonly repeated. Once you get a hang of it, you're just skimming the parts that are relevant to what is being activated. You aren't literally reading every single word, every single time.
play Goat format, brother
