Classic Offensive got a cease and desist

Classic Offensive got a cease and desist
Steam fags, how do you feel that your library is in the hands of a company that acts like Nintendo?

Hunt down the freeman along with source 2 have been disastrous to modding community

Fucking RIP
The thing about Classic Offensive is that it was gonna be its own thing by taking bits and pieces of the older CS games. I didn't want it to be a 1:1 1.6 remake like CS:L is going to be because I could just play 1.6. Now I'm just hoping that CS:L doesn't get canned too.

Valve shitting themselves over a fan project they approved

Really speaks for the current state of CS2

Steam fags, how do you feel that your library is in the hands of a company that acts like Nintendo?

No man as a Steam user this is fucking embarrassing, period. This behavior should not be defended considering Valve's history with mods for their games and how it literally shaped them and their public image ( for the better ) even though it's fully within their rights to prevent any other mods appearing on their store using copyrighted assets from games that are not HL2 or TF2.

Honestly I hope they change and update their guidelines on this and give even more freedom to the developers. Like come on now, this shit isn't gonna be even competing with CS 2 and it's all esports and traderjoo faggotry surrounding it.

Who fucking cares? Valve is dead the moment Gabe is in the ground. The faggot communists that have infiltrated it at every level are going to ban every single person here.

Another fan project that didn't understand what made CS great in the first place. Good riddance.

brutally mogged THEN shut down by gabe

kek they got shit on at every single turn

I tried to warn you about Valve's scummy practices but since it didn't affect *YOUR* game you all decided to mock me instead.

Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.

Reminder that valve is not your friend

Oh boohoo nigger play cs2 or move on you have no rights to their IP especially when they made it very clear they don't want offensive to exist anymore. Cry me a fucking river. Go play a good shooter instead of living off nostalgia from the last 15y

Valve is dead the moment Gabe is in the ground

Pretty sure one of his sons will take over and continue to run the company like his dad did, so he can fund his racing hobby.

Can't believe how good it looks and how visually clear it is. I knew this game would eventually be taken down, it's too good.

what a surprise...

hey look, who cares!

that's a different mod you dumbass

imagine spending literally years of your life working on a mod and then valve just decides na at the last minute

Of course they don't want better CS stealing their player base and money

Oh shit, you right.

So is there a reason why this one won't get C&D'd by Valve too?

Nah, Gabe loves Gray but doesn't trust Gray to run a business. Gabe will sell his shares to Scott.

Just FYI there's precedence for this, as Gabe's co-founder Mike sold his shares to Gabe to leave the company after Half-Life.

why did they make a counter-strike "mod" that was literally just counter-strike?

retard

You care enough to reply

built from tbe ground up on Valve's official Source Engine SDK

Guess what CSCO did.

Who cares!
It's not MY game that's being effected.

Shut up faggot, you don't like or understand why someone wants to make mods then just don't speak out at all sperg

8 years and its still not done

People still play CS? How embarrassing.

How do you get fucking MOGGED this hard lmao.

Guess he shouldn't have taken so fucking long?

Why did they buckle like all the other modder cucks and took advantage of the Source Engine leak?

Probably because he wanted to find a way to legitimize themselves and potentially make a profit off of it.

And yet this did it all legit.

This multi-million dollar company protects and defends its copyrights?! NO THIS CANNOT BE, I NEED TO HAVE EVERYTHING FREE!

I don't give a shit because I'm going to play a better shooting game. Have fun seething at your least favorite companies, or something.

Make your own game, stop trying to mooch off of other people's success.

CSCO looks better and more sovlful. Why does Anon Babble have low standards? You faggots wouldn't care if it was AIslop mod.

The working theory is the because everything is made from scratch on Source SDK 2013 it'll be safe. They are playing by Valve's rules unlike CO which used CSGO as a base and modified some of it's assets for their mod. Honestly it was stupid of them to keep using CSGO as a base and look where all the years of dancing around updates got them.

I dont know why they didnt immediately panic and redid shit after the TF2 mods that used leaked code got hit by Valve too

build your success off of the work of modders

shit on them when you're too big to fail

Classic...

who cares i exclusively play 1.6

Almost been 2 years since CS2 released, and it's still trash

Make it make sense

I've patented this strategy and Valve will be hearing from my lawyers.

todd.jpg - 800x1064, 147.5K

they probably thought they wouldn't be caught since they were avoiding the steam workshop

Shouldn't announce release date next time
Just fucking drop it out of nowhere
How many times same shit should happen to make them learn?

use shit that got stolen from me

don't expect me to take actions

commie cock sucker...

A company built on its back thanks to the modding community, hates modders?
I'm shocked.
They don't want anyone disturbing their skins and their millions of profit running a drm client.

stolen

Do you have proof of that, you corporate ass licker?

the only redpill is that valve is as anti-consumer as anyone else, except they ride on the coattails of developers, long left the company, who made great games 20 years ago while also having great pr / marketing. they only care about updating dota 2 because gaben would kill them otherwise, but all of their other games are either gambling platforms or dead.

thinks only companies care about property being stolen

anorexic and ignorant commie cock sucker...

I don't care because I don't play Valve games and they are welcome to do whatever the hell they want with their IP just like Nintendo.

good bootlicker.

from what I understand, Valve's problem was that it was built on CSGO, which is no longer available on Steam, beyond the hidden CS2 beta branch

eternal reminder that valve deleted CSGO, a perfectly functioning game, and forced everyone to replace it with a barely fuctioning CS2 with less content.

I have advocated for abolishing copyright law, trademark law, corporate law and intellectual property in general for over a decade. Did you listen? No? Then fuck off. If you think that intellectual property should be allowed to exist, then live with the consequences of that.

good bootlicker

Nu-Valve hates modders

Reddit tier comeback.

Why would they ban me? I buy games and play them, sometimes leave a review. I'm not one of you underage /vpol/ twats who spams threads on the steam discussion forums about the slop they let you get away with posting here, so maybe that's why you're afraid.

A bunch of their other games just got new mods release for 'em thoughbeit.

it's still there under the beta branch

anorexic

Post body.

Why are they still talking about greenlight shit from a fucking decade ago?

introduce batlepass that you can rebuy and grind infinitely

retards flabbergasted they wont allow old, way more fun version of nu CS to play

I thought they just hid it. But effectively yeah, they did the same thing as Blizzard. It was amusing how hard their fans defended it

They paid $100 to be on Steam, got voted to be on Steam and got officially approved by Valve to be on Steam.

That's how Greenlight worked

Nintendo games cost $80 and Nintendo does not do discounts. We are not the same.

Because Valve was okay with them doing the mod back then.
And so the dev continued and finished development.
Only, when they were finally going to release it, Valve said "no" and gave some vague reason that it wasn't "good enough" to be on Steam.
Imagine being the developer and you were given the greenlight, only to have the rug pulled from under you. From a greedy corporation that only wants a mod monopoly of their IPs only they own them (despite having mod tools for these games).

popularizes lootboxes, microtransactions, battle passes

does fuck all with their engine to attract developers for almost two decades while other studios using quake derivatives were leagues ahead of source

makes it explicitly clear that you don't know anything you purchase on steam including games

Why are people surprised by this? You're taking an active game, modding it, releasing it for free using Valve's IP and competing with an existing product.

But they lost contact with Valve ages ago. Don't you think they should reconfirmed their stance back then? Even moreso when those TF2 mods got hit too?

I don't like Nintendo, but they do discounts. Actually they still make games. Last real Valve game was Portal 2.

Valve gives the mod tools for free to people

No, don't use them like that!

But they lost contact with Valve ages ago.

Valve is notorious for ignoring contact from devs or people in general and only at the last minute do they show up, yell "no" and "muh IP" and basically cease and desist you.

isn't that the one were the lead dev lit himself on fire

spend years planning a bank robbery

police arrests me in 5 minutes

wtf bros it's no fair

I have no idea why Source modders are always some of the dumbest fucks out there.

Tyler Mcvicker not talking about this

of course

"Hey bro can I come over to your house in an hour?"

"Sure, no problem"

1hourlater.jpg

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING TRESPASSING AT MY PROPERTY???"

"But you said I can come ove-"

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

I got Half Life games for free

1hourlater.png

You mean 7 years later lmao.

Why would I be sad about Classic Offensive when this looks way better?

I don't really get it, why were they told no? Did they use leaked code or try to monetize it with their own skins or something/unlocked skins without owning them? That's pretty much the only things that gets your TF2 mods pulled

huhh.png - 96x89, 23.04K

Did they use leaked code

This.

movement/bhop/russianduck from 1.6

character models from 1.6

m60/rocket launcher from condition zero (optional)

maps from source

lighting/textures from global offensive

gunplay from global offensive

It was the best of all the games combined into one, with full custom community server support. No matchmaking, only a server browser like the old days.
This project understood what made CS "great" better than Valve.
No, paid skins do not make CS "great," paid skins make CS profitable.

LashPout.png - 336x421, 184.05K

Classic Offensive did not use leaked code and never did. The source code leaked in 2020, Classic Offensive began its development in 2017/2018.
Stop believing bullshit Reddit lies, my guy.

They didn't use leaked code.

The problem is that it required CSGO binaries and files to work and Valve basically removed CSGO from Steam with CS2, so if they were the distribute it themselves, they would have to include literal CSGO files.

The alternative is using the beta branch of CS2 to revert it back to CSGO, which would decrease CS2 engagement, as no one wants to flip flop between downloading CSGO and CS2

You can have CSGO and CS2 both installed simultaneously, it's how I have my folder setup right now. Opting into the CSGO build doesn't uninstall CS2.

Hey, Steamies schizo. Literally nobody above the poverty line cares about Valve games.
