Sure, why not?

But seriously, how much does he get in royalties for stuff like this?

I only remember something about tony hawk pro skater 5 being rushed out because the contract was closing down.
I guess he renewed it later for billion bucks

more remasters

Unironically probably the remaster I've wanted the most. Though I wonder who they'll replace Bam with in the story since he gets a few prominent scenes.

That's some good effort-posting.

You re thinking underground 2, in underground 1 hes some irrelevant rando, its peralta and literal chad muska you need to worry about

I'm 90% sure thug 2 is unremakeable

You re thinking underground 2

I'm not saying he had a big role but I mostly wonder who would replace him for the tanks scene.

its peralta and literal chad muska you need to worry about

Both got to still be on good terms I'd imagine. I think Bam is the only guy no one wants to touch, hell they should just have Knoxville and Wee Man show up instead.

Agreed, it was kino and I should replay it sometime

THUG is all i want
remaster the helicopter jump scene desu

Besides him oogling the tanks like an autist i dont remember him doing anything relevant in moscow, it was all Eric and (You)

take out the driving missions that were forced in by the suits

sprinkle in some more additional post-game goals

day 1 buy. has the best levels in the entire series, just has weaker objectives compared to 4.

it doesn't really need a remaster though

But seriously, how much does he get in royalties for stuff like this?

Here's Tony talking about how much he made from just Pro Skater 4.

Day 1 buy

I wonder if they'll replace KISS in the epilogue or keep them in because it was already a dated reference in the original. Might be a cost issue though.

You'd have to replace them, as they wouldn't be able to afford the financial hit of reupping it w/ KISS. Not the biggest change in the world, could just alter the level a bit (or a lot) to reflect whatever new band they choose while still keeping the original feel/layout of the level.

He's in THPS 3+4 remaster. There's no reason not to do the Underground games if 3+4 sell well. Xbox/MS is about making money after spending 70 billion on the Activision/Blizzard deal.

4 mil check during lunch

goddamn

American Wasteland > Underground 2 > Underground > Proving Ground > Project 8

IT'S LOUDER THAN A METALLICA CONCERT IN THERE

Tony moved Heaven and Earth to get Activision to play nice with Bam again. I can't help but feel that was because they have more plans, which would obviously mean Underground Remastered is coming.

I only beat the first four games then checked out of the series because I really didn't enjoy 4. 3 was PEAK for me though. Maybe I should go on.

I hope you haven't read the image in the second post. Underground is great, and you don't want to go into it spoiled.

And as for 4, you might be one of the few people who will prefer the change to the 2 minute format in 3+4.

A THUG Remake would still HAVE to be set in 2004 right? There's just no fucking way to modernize that kind of game.

Kino.

New version of Tony Hawk's Underground so I don't have to play with Thug Pro autists that don't even actually play the game they just clip into the floor and immediately get several billion points

ANY MODERN DEVELOPER TOUCHING T.H.U.G.

No sir, I don't think I like it, even if I have the utmost faith in Tony Hawk.

If it was Vicarious Visions, even with the compromises 1+2 had, I'd trust them. They've been with the franchise since the GBA/GBC ports at the near-start. But they got sent to be slaves for Blizzard's support mines for Overwatch and Diablo. Iron Galaxy being brought in and immediately axing the 4 campaign down to be more like 3 doesn't give me any hope.

Tony's already stepped up and gone to bat for Bam's dumb ass for 3+4 Remaster, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for him to do it for an Underground 1/2 remaster as long as Bam doesn't fall off the wagon before it can happen.

The remakes were all ass recently, we want a complete remake, not those lame rehashes. The remakes all looked so damn plastic-y

I genuinely don't know how VV could have kept the orignal THPS4 Campaign in a single package alongside 3. I kind of figured that would be the comprise ever since I played 1+2, because in that it was clearly designed so that you could switch between the two games instantly. 4 was so different from the Classic 2 Minute Drill formula, it just wouldn't mesh right.

Okay but Vicarious Visions is owned by Activision, and Activision is owned by Activision Blizzard and that ENTIRE gold bar covered in shit is currently sitting in the combination septic tank and Chernobyl that is Microsoft

VV doesn't exist anymore, the company was dissolved. Although from what I understand, all of the employees are still pretty much working together as a team on CoD or whatever Activision leashed them to.

By all accounts 3+4 is turning out well, and they're being as considerate of the original content as it's possible to be. Including references to the original developers in multiple places. The only reason they went with the 2 minute format for 4 is that 3 was originally supposed to be DLC for 1+2, but VV got scrapped before that could happen. 4 might have been meant to be a standalone.

I mean 4 isn't really all that different. It's most of the same sort of shit, you just ride up to people to initiate instead. Even has a similar checklist of every single goal as you do them. It would be jarring to shift between both games, but not unfeasible, and I say this not having played the game in decades until recently emulating it again. The big shift towards more "find your missions" was frankly always more of a compromise because they made the levels the biggest yet for that game.

They were rolled into Blizzard Albany.
Honestly, the smartest thing Microsoft could do is go all in while they still can and form a New Neversoft specifically for these games and bring back as much of the old talent as possible.

There is absolutely no chance they could remake the story without butchering it. Just release the levels as a pack for 3+4.

Could have gone with a set up where 3 is a classic mode and 4 is an adventure mode and you select from the main menu or something. Though admittedly that would be the lazy easy way to do it.

Didn't read the second image as soon as I realized it explained the story, all good.
Are you saying that the 3+4 remake is going back to a timed mode? That would be great, I though 4's open world system was very boring

like what said, it would have to be set in 2004 and basically be untouched. Any attempt to modernize it, like what 1+2 did (and I'm assuming 3+4 will do) would just end in absolute fucking disaster.

I WANNA PIERCE MY BRAIN

I WANNA PIERCE MY BRAIN

What is this sorcery? 1/12/25 hasnt happened yet

I actually think Activision agrees to develop and release those remasters because Tony doesnt give a fuck about money at this point and makes big concessions when it comes to his royalties. Activision wouldnt put any studio on fucking Tony Hawk remasters if they would have to pay big ass fees. Thats literally why we never get remasters of other titles that used anything licensed be it music or vehicles.

The levels aren't too big to work with the 2 minute format.

The only things they'd need to change are the Inexplicable Chinese Chef in New York who teaches you how to Boneless and MAYBE alter the missions where you're picking up girls in San Diego and Moscow. Everything else is pretty safe.

Euro anon... I...

The Tony Hawk games are fucking full of licensed music, most of which was brought back in the remakes.

Why? That ship has sailed, these games will never be as popular as they once were, there's no reason to go that hard for them.

Alcatraz and London were fucking massive compared to the old games. Although one thing I noticed from a preview that AndyTHPS did was how the devs were pretty smart about the goals in 4's levels, that they all kind of "flow" into each other.

The 1+2 remaster was the only fucking Activision product that turned a profit in 2020. They should have had VV back in the saddle immediately and struck while the iron was hot instead of waiting so long to have Iron Galaxy take over.

The sad thing was Acti actually immediately wanted to start production on it, but the arms of the beast act independently of each other, and executive choices elsewhere in Acti already folded VV into Blizz Albany. So they wanted the sequel post-haste and had no one available to make it with until IG signed up.

Yeah by some niche punk rock bands that disbanded and didnt released a single in 15 fucking years. They cant demand god knows what so they take what they can obviously and thats why those tracks remain on OST.

One thing a lot of people forget about the missions in 4 is that a significant number of them were just tutorials or tests of your mastery over a specific mechanic that lasted all of five seconds anyway, if they weren't things you would have done in 1, 2 or 3 anyway, or if they weren't totally out of format minigames like the shopping cart. 4 was full of fat, and trimming it out will hurt less than a lot of people fear.

if that's the case, why did IG take so long to agree to it? They did the Switch Port just fine, it's not like they didn't have experience.

Probably because Iron Galaxy is a support studio first and foremost, not a proper mainline dev. I wouldn't be surprised if this took longer than 1+2 to develop because they aren't a dedicated studio like Vicarious was, despite having 1+2 as its framework to start from.

it's the best one

not wanting THUG1-2 Remastered

They're literally the last GOOD Tony Hawks.

i thought these new remasters was underground because of how much people talked about bam. but since it's tony hawk 3 and 4 which nobody played, i truly dont give a fuck.

All he did was recount the plot. I don't understand what value this post is supposed to have.

You couldn't do Underground 1+2, I don't think. My dream would be for them to just discard Underground 2 and everything that came after it and start on a whole new branch that actually follows Underground. What did the protagonist do after that? I want to see Eric Sparrow an old, bitter loser obsessed with his glory days, and I want a brand new protagonist learning from the old one alongside the old guard of Skate to revitalize the sport.

It's a serious literary analysis of the story. A story most people considered nothing special, as evidenced by the fact that they didn't understand why he would praise the story so highly.

Most of what he says in that screencap isn't even told to you directly, and a lot of it is contingent on your experience of the story as it unfolds. A lot of people skipped the cutscenes, or just glossed over the story and didn't get that experience with the game.

If they remake thug2 and the soundtrack is different, it's not even worth pirating

is it really so important to have fucking Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra on the soundtrack to a skateboarding game

yes

It's really not though, he's just explaining everything Eric does throughout the plot and doesn't add any additional value to it.

Most of what he says in the screencap isn't even told to you directly

It doesn't need to be told to you directly, it all falls into place in hindsight when it becomes clear Eric is villainous. That's a form of storytelling. It made sense to everyone who played it and watched the cutscenes, it's a simple story for kids and it made sense to me and my friends when I was a kid. There's really nothing special happening here and the post doesn't reveal any new insight or offer some interesting interpretation, it just says everything Eric does throughout the story. I'm not even trying to be negative I'm just genuinely baffled by the post and the responses to it.

The soundtracks were shit from Underground onwards, only the first 4 soundtracks actually matter.

LOVE..

IS A BURNING THING

It would be like taking away The Doors despite how weird it is to use Break On Through as the theme.

Those songs are on the soundtrack because they wanted to use them in the story. But licensing them to only use them there was considered wasteful, so they were put into the normal rotation.

Meh. Underground wasn't that great from what I remember.

People are so desperate for Anon Babble to be worth visiting that they'll take an extremely basic recap of a video game's plot with specious comparisons to classical literature as something worth a screen cap
