One week or two weeks if there's nothing else to play
Fromsoft
learning
lmao
The industry never learned from Anthem nor Concord so nothing changes.
depends on the support the game will get
will they limit the new content to DLCs or will they keep adding stuff in smaller patches for years?
anyway, as the game stands now, it really doesn't seem like something you could play for much longer than 100 hours or so, which is not so much for a multiplayer only game, but we'll have to see.
>how long will the game stay alive
Rougly 2 weeks of being actually alive.
After that like a month of being "Alive"
After that it's dead
fromsoft SUCKS
how come they are the industry leader then
If it works offline it technically won't ever die.
I think people will play it for a few weeks then move on, I just don't see how it can capture people enough to make it their main game considering it's a streamlined version of Elden Ring with seamless coop and randomizer, this kind of game has its niche but that niche is not huge
I don't think it will have any impact on the industry, but I'm concerned about From Software in general since the last 2 games they announced are focused on multiplayer. I kinda hoped that after the success of Armored Core VI they would lean more into singleplayer games and revive some of their dormant series, but maybe they're working on even more projects in the background
Not how this works. By this definition literally no game is dead.
They aren't. The chinks and gooks surpassed them at their own game many times over now. Nintendo is still the industry's leader in Japan and after that Capcom and etc.. Fromsoft is just a glorified shovelware company with too much money and fame.
This will be one of those games you either get into into the first month or you don't because it will be dead or filled with try hards who don't want to deal with new players
Surely they’re working on the next big Dark Souls/Elden Ring style game, these multiplayer games are just cash grabs
miyazaki sama said no elden ring 2 they stopped their dark souls saga no more fantasy sword play souls
Cash grabs or just something to keep them working whilst the Next Big Thing is in pre-production.
Wouldn't it be way better and smart to focus on that Big Thing instead of separating labor into smaller shittier things that would knee cap them in the future and ruin their finances in the long run?
So we getting a souls shooter like remnant now?
Anon, Duskbloods is their next big thing and hopefully their last since they suck at evolving.
I want more classes, lots of classes, tons of unlockable classes, as well as outfits. Give me those and I'll be happy there for years.
Kek. Nice joke.
they need money
more release with less budget is making money
From the studio who gave you this masterpiece
You aren't getting that. You are getting another garbage live service game designed by businessmen which will drip feed new content so slowly that no one will stay after a week or two.
Everyone wants a live service game no one is prepared to produce the content needed for it.
Honestly I think that the devs themselves expect this to have a limited shelf life
who is the audience for this game?
modern gamers
It definitely won’t have long legs, but it’s not going to die in 2 weeks.
The only long term progression seems to be boring stat boost items, and skins. Outside of a tiny minority no one is going to grind out optimal stat boost things. Skins will be semi popular, but it depends on how much effort is required to unlock them.
Based on that we know of map randomisation, it’s gonna get old real fast. You will 100% see everything has can possibly offer before finishing it. The physical map never changes, outside of special big changes that are named. I highly doubt there’s going to be more than 8 of the volcanic crater event tier changes. Enemies and mini bosses randomise, but it barely changes anything. Fighting a crucible knight in basement is not meaningful different to a crucible knight on a hillside. And doubly so when I’ve fought 13 crucible knights in variety of locations already in Elden Ring.
I also expect sevre player drop off. ~35% of players finished Elden Ring, which is super high for a gigantic game. I suspect Nightreign will be closer to 10-15%.
Nothing kills motivation more than wasting 40 minutes of your life because a stranger across the world is shit at video games. Getting a coherant team of 3 to play regularly is not something most people can do. Not to mention frustration with lack of ability to practice. If you are stuck on Elden Ring boss for 3 hours you likely attempted them 50+ times. Being stuck on a Nightreign boss for 3 hours means you got at most 3 attempts. Assuming you never failed a run to Day 2 boss, and had instant matchmaking each time. Plus your weapon and gear is randomised each time, so you can’t even learn the openings well. Only way to actually master bosses will be to play for dozens and dozens of hours, preferably with people who you can coordinate with.
People will grit their teeth and pretend to love it at first, since Fromsoft can do wrong. And all the YouTubers will have maybe a month of shill content.
it requires 3 fucking people to play.
It will be alive and fine for years. Anyone saying otherwise is a braindead, retarded, steamchart posting nigger. A game like DotA that is 5v5 with a complicated rank system needs a large player base to facilitate that system. A game like Nightreign needs, at most, a few thousand people online to get into games decently fast and it will certainly have more than that. Street Fighter is a 1v1 game and dips down to like 5-6k sometimes at the low hours and you still find a match at any rank within like 2 minutes.
I can see the game coasting at 5 figures daily for years if they keep up the content updates at a reasonable pace. Sure, if they just release it then do one DLC a year later then nothing else it might actually, genuinely die.
Might be fun for a few hours. But what's even the point of winning? Afaik there's no progression system, so why would I keep playing after I've survived the last boss 3-4 times?
Not to mention frustration with lack of ability to practice. If you are stuck on Elden Ring boss for 3 hours you likely attempted them 50+ times.
Bosses are much easier to kill with 3 people especially if there won't be any stat penalties
This isn't a live service game. I believe it is similar to granblue relink and will die in a year after everyone is done with all the content.
personally I don't get the appeal of playing a game like this with randos when you can't even communicate if you don't stick closely together, but people will make it work I guess
I wish the map was bigger and there was 4 groups of 3 converging competing for resources. No PVP though.
Really wanted to play it on my series x, but never bought fully online games for that, because you need to pay for online
So guess, steam version for me this time
Still looks fun, still getting it
I am sure the first week it will be fine. The issue is it probably good be a good game for a month but they cut 50% of the content to drip feed it to you over a year
we put NPC invasion in the game to challenge the players
no real player invasions though, we wouldn't want to challenge them so much!
if baby food had a videogame equivalent, I think Nightreign would definitely be that
it's not a live service game
They are drip feeding content it is one. Otherwise they would drop everything day 1
This shit is doa
Why would you want invasions in coop game?
You are already crying about host beating your ass 1v1 in das3 and ER, but now you'll have to fight 3 players
Why would you want invasions in coop game?
there's already invasions in the game though, you can be invaded by bosses and NPC players, and you can't turn those off, so what's the difference if you could get invaded by another player?
npc vs real player? You really can't tell difference?
there already stormcloacks in skyrum,so what's the difference if you could get invaded by another player?
literally you
you have only 15 minutes for each day so real invaders would do their best to waste your time, imagine someone constantly pelting you from a distance but running away every time you try to engage him.
Also it would make the game a lot harder, and losing a run after almost an hour because of a strong invader would be way too tilting
If I was a millionaire I'd make a competitive pvp soulslike so all of the pvp retards would go to my game and then normal souls pvp would be saved
If I was a billionaire I would host a private soulslike PVP tourney on my private island open to anyone who enjoys soulslike PVP then I would nuke the island
being invaded by a boss / overtuned NPC invader that kills me in 2 hits: :)
being invaded by a base level player with low tier equipment: >:(
just admit that you're afraid of facing real players, PvEtranny
hey goyim we didn't spend years making this slopen world for nothing, pay up for another rehash
I think the game needs PvP but it would have to be so heavily modified that it would take actual development work instead of just reusing assets. Souls games have such horrible netcode that PvP is more of an experience than anything remotely competitive. It is genuinely like 40% lag, 40% bugs, 20% skill.
PvEtranny
jesus christ
What's the point of NPC invaders if you stagger them so easily
What am I supposed to be looking at here? The skeleton is obviously securing his head.
the multiplayer aspects of our games have always been the shittiest parts
let's make TWO games entirely focused on PVPVE
From's golden age is done. Sekiro was the peak and Elden Ring will probably be remembered as Miyazaki's magnum opus, but the ride's over.
his already-attached head.
its the same animation from dark souls 1 where the skeleton assembles itself
