If it had to be out of these 6, I think Expedition 33. Of the 3 released so far it's the best and I don't think the other 3 will do anything to change that. It also just feels like the kind of game journo's would love and vote for.

It's a 3 way race between E33, Silksong, and Kojimbos game. E33 already has it in the bag. Silksong is the only real other contender. Kojimbo is there because of dorito nepotism and being the only dev capable of delivering some kind of fluke of nature 10/10 game. For the record I'm expecting DS2 to be a mess of a 6/10 game. I just entertain the possibility it might be amazing whereas with other devs like say obsidian you know they are going to produce consistent middling 7/10 mediocre slop.

Pretty much every game released this year would win last year. Fucking avowed would have had a shot at winning goty last year. It cannot be overstated how god fucking awful 2024 was for major relases. If you are an indie game player though you were eating good. So many amazing indie releases in 2024 but mainstream releases had the worst year since Inquisition won. It's wild that dogshit like Balatro and Metaphor were not only nominated but serious contenders to actually win. Complete joke of a year.

I really want to know what drugs Metroid prime 4 retards are on. It's one thing to have nostalgia for metroid prime 1. To somehow believe that 4 is going to be goty quality is legitimate mental illness.

By every possible metric metroid prime 4 is a disappointment. A big factor of prime 1 novelty was actually utilizing the strongest at the time console hardware to deliver an atmospheric game carried by sound design and visual effects. Fast forward to the present and 4 is releasing on the equivalent of a fucking gamecube at worst and a ps4 at best. This wouldn't be a huge issue if the gameplay was notable, but it is notably dogshit. Prime 1 was designed as a single stick shooter before twinstick took over. Prime 4 still maintains that vestigial design. Lock on fps gameplay should not exist in 2025. At least have the decency to hide lock on from your playerbase like Apex. I don't understand how anyone can look at all the released footage of prime 4 and see any potential at all for even a decent game. If it clears being a 6/10 it will be a miracle. I will consider it a success if it is better than Doom the dark ages. That is how low the bar is.
