Absolutely underrated gem

Absolutely underrated gem.
Why did it get so much hate?

Absolutely underrated gem.

Why did it get so much hate?

Nobody hated it though.

Ugly miserable slog.
2nd game was ok.

it had some stupid game mechanics and the combat feels super clunky. don't forget dogshit optimization and forced black bars at launch.

A bunch of technical problems
Letterboxing
Shitters crying

stupidass filters

forced upgrade system

released at a time when horror games where you couldn't fight back were all the rage

Didn't like TEW but TEW2 is kino.

I liked it alot.

REfags seething because bethesda made better re than capcom

tewl.png - 1127x773, 1.27M

it streamlined all the fun quirky shit from the first one

Main problem with TEW's launch is the horrific performance and black bars (which existed to claw back some performance by simply rendering less). What continues to filter shitters is the relatively high difficulty as the game is far harder than RE4 which everyone expects every spooky TPS to play like.

it removed all the fun quirky shit from the first one

fix'd.

actual cum slurper monsters

I can understand why you might find the game better than the original.

I love The Evil Within, it's the one game that exposed Shinji Mikami as the shit eating subhuman he is

What do you mean?

the first one is a horror masterpiece
the second is meh

writters are too retarded to understand that kids age over the years

Lmao. Also they turned Seb into a redditor.

That final boss fight was absolute ass though

every good Mikami game was good despite his involvement, not because of
if you want proofs, read his old interviews where he severely shit talks Resident Evil 1 and then read his original draft for that game

I believe people expected a game it was not. See how tons of people misuse the matches in their first playthrough burning every single enemy 'cause they assume it works exactly like it did in REmake when in TEW it's meant to be a crowd control tool and a clever one-hit kill if you manage to group a bunch of enemies together.

Repetitive boring slog. I had to stop playing after hours of this shit because I just couldn't take it anymore. It's an objectively terrible game. Should I try the sequel?

Could have been great but has too much jank, too much scripted shit and too many traps.

1st game is decent. The 2nd games sucks and was clearly lower budget.

The 2nd game was specifically tuned to the burger market, hence the massive increase in action, decrease in horror and seb swearing more.

Based.

And a fellow King of culture.

Shit ending and later chapters are tedious

it's bad

garbage game. ran on shit-tech 5. painful trial and error gameplay. wasnt fun. no replay value.

It had performance problems and the unnecessary letterboxing at launch. Nowadays there is way more appreciation of the game. Its the real proper succesor to RE4 and it did the whole "return to survival horror roots" thing earlier than RE7 did.

Absolutely. It's fun and never a slog like the first.

We will never get Evil Within 3

It's a fine sequel but it's not better than the first game. Good enough to be played alongside it instead of scorned like so many other sequels that shit on what came before, but still.

Its the real proper succesor to RE4

No it fucking isn't.

Also "muh daughter". It seems like if you want to appeal to Americans first thing you try to do is make a Children of Men/The Road copycat.

agreed, EW2 clears the first game so much

Game is filled with That Part. Also Kidman’s see through wet blouse/black bra was a nice touch and should coommented on.

Please don't tell me you think Resident Evil "lets shove in co-op" 5 is a better successor. TEW1 was actually directed by Mikami too.

as just one horror release in a sea of mediocre titles it is pretty good, easily worth a playthrough, on the other hand there's a lot of dumb annoying shit in it, the movie equilibrium wasn't 12 hours long.

Game is filled with That Part

ain't that the fucking truth. That's the main thing that makes me prefer the 2nd game to the first

wants to feel comfortable in a horror game

are u sure u are playing the right games?

Bethesda just handed Mikami some cash and told him to fuck off and do what he wanted. he wanted to take a shit. Mikami and team RE got tired of the whole survival focus anyway that's why the action started to creep in more after the RE1.

trudging through tedious, obnoxious bullshit isn't fun anon, and it certainly doesn't make it "horror"

ok then tell me one good and scary horror game that doesn't get you uncomfortable

it makes it HORRIBLE instead

I liked both games quite a lot, i wanna replay them at some point

file.png - 1706x1260, 1.94M

Evil Within 2

asks for one GOOD and SCARY game

ew2

ok anon, you don't know what are u bitching about

it's tangover

He wouldn't have remade RE1 if he was tired of survival horror that early. In any case he did went toward action with RE4 but struck a good balance with TEW.

this is sort of my own autism but TEW is a poster child for why I hate upgrade systems. the game traps you between filling out your upgrade tree suboptimally and being underpowered and doing it reasonably and turning encounters(that are built to be intimidating) into a joke. everytime I get a hankering for a replay I remember having to navigate the upgrade system tight rope and I nope out.

Because the game looks like this with the stupid ass black borders

console peasansts seething as always

he made the REmake becuz he knew it would sell. Selling to someone who already bought from you is the easiest money to make obviously.

i played it recently (on PC) and i was like what the fuck is with this black border shit and played for maybe 2 hours until i looked in the settings and there's some stupid setting to turn them off. Guess i wasn't the only one

That was actually patched in. On release black bars were on all platforms but only could be removed on PC due to mods.

well i haven't installed any mods, the option is just there in the vanilla game options. I just didn't know what it was meant to do cuz it has a dumb name from what i remember.

because it was too hard
some design decision are quite old shool and didnt go well with the modern audience like the instakill bosses

because it was too hard

Shouldn't be an issue - Anon Babble is full of skilled players, especially for a game as mechanically simple as evil within.

It filtered millions. It's RE4 except better and more challenging in every way.

All the casual little bandwagon faggots got their shit pushed in. Pro in RE4 is like the easiest difficulty of TEW

2 hours of crouch slow walk forced stealth prologue

Choke full of gay cinematic moviegame sections

Bad shooting, inconsistent damage, awful bosses

2 seconds sprint with barely any speed

Console ammo caps instead of real inventory screen

No it was garbage

The prologue is like 10 mins max. You can speedrun the whole game damn near in 2 hours.

Rest of that is just you being a filtered baby.

hours of crouch slow walk forced stealth prologue
It's less than 10 minutes

>Choke full of gay cinematic moviegame sections

Skip the cutscenes then, there isn't many. There are no "Press X to Awesome" cinematic setpieces, all setpieces are purely old school gameplay setpieces

>Bad shooting, inconsistent damage, awful bosses

100% skill issue

seconds sprint with barely any speed
Skill issue, you can even upgrade it but you absolutely don't need to, even for Akumu

>Console ammo caps instead of real inventory screen

"It's bad because it's not a carbon copy of RE4"

Faggot. And RE4, and all of Mikami's games, ARE console games first and foremost. What kind of turd world, brown, console refugee, who thinks they're hot shit with their 2012 lenovo thinkpad, makes a comment is this? Pathetic

These games were atrocious

About all I can relate to. I enjoy the game, but I got to this point several hours in where just too many hostiles are spawning in this giant two-leveled atrium and after restarting a good dozen times I just put the game down. I was hyped for it before release because it looked like the only proper horror game to come out in recent years and it was. Just all of that sorta locked behind the "oh you died 15 times in a row, doesn't that suck, isn't this horrerble?"

The first half is good, where you're actually scrounging for resources and every encounter is lethal, then it just turns into a corridor shooter.

why is there action in my horror action game????

skill issue

windows store version has fixes/an additional fps option which never got ported to steam

fuck you too
also

villain from the first game is absent from the sequel and muh corporation is the actual big baddie in both games

also

the only spooky thing in the entire franchise was the ice bitch

also

occult horror >>>>>>>>>> science trash

At least Sebastian got a happy ending. Dude suffered enough on the two games he's in.

I see you are an anon of taste.

The game starts with a 2 hour walking sequence, forced stealth segment, and when you finally get to play, you're wandering through dark woods stepping in traps with your 3 second sprint and shitty revolver. I think it gets much better after but its not a good start. Also some people don't like the sudden environment changes, I think its cool though like a surreal nightmare world.

Yeah, it feels like his story is over. A third game would probably focus on Joseph (and maybe Kidman) going after Ruvik.
