It seems to me that what she enjoys is having a complete control of her life, and I guess who wouldn't enjoy that? That's why Renoir understands her and says she's not wrong wanting to be there and continue as Maelle, everything she said is completely logic, but this doesn't mean it is right to stay there or that she had a bad life outside the painting.

This is actually the biggest thing that even motivated me to play the games. Everyway people describe the level layouts and lack of minimap, just sounds like theyre describing classic Dark Souls level design.
And that sort of level design is not only immensely rare to even attempt, but even rarer to get right. So my curiosity got the better of me despite the fact that the abundance of hype and narratives behind the game have led me to develop and incredibly suspicious and non believing attitude towards the game. I actually have zero faith that itll be good. But i hope it will be.
