Its a lot like Final Fantasy X and Lost Oddysey but with some souls influence like heals being limited like estus and enemies respawn when you heal at a campsite but largely it feels like What people hoped Bravely Default 2 would have been when that series jumped to console. Sadly BD2 was a shitty port of a cancelled iphone game and felt like it. This feels like BD in terms of like world map, exploration, twists, building and spending action points but with a blend of ff9's armor ability system and ff8's junctioning.
Its legitimately very very good and unlike something like say Rebirth which is stellar for like 30% of it but the other 70% is trend chasing open world ubislop this is consistently good from start to finish.

To be honest most of the beauty of the game can just be chalked up to skilled use of the Unreal 5 engine. Notice they repeated the red-grass for too many areas, and a lot of areas looked a bit samey so it was easy to get lost sometimes.
