Star Wars Outlaws - A Pirate's Fortune DLC did not save the game.
[Sad News] Star Wars Outlaws was not engoodened
To absolutely no one's surprise.
The biggest thing for me is:
why would you play a star wars game where you're not a mandalorian, you're not a jedi, you're not a sith, you're not even a storm trooper, you're just a fucking regular person
who CARES? That's before you even get into the ugly designs and shit.
Imagine being part of the staff forced to work on the contractual obligation section of a well and truly dead game. Like being the last crew alive on the Mary Celeste.
Being fucking Han Solo doing GTA shit across the galaxy has appeal. But they FUCKED that up.
if you're somehow into star wars despite not having consciousness in the 80's when it was a relevant franchise you're gonna dog tired of the common star wars themes and desperately want something else
It had DLC? Thought they shuttered the studio.
No cool masculine characters in nu-wars, only bitch boys and girl bosses.
Good.
I don't even want good games from Ubisoft at this point I want them to fail.
They made DLC for this piece of shit?
Lol.
Lmao, even.
Ubisoft will never have an open-world game with actual depth, because they are too stubborn to break away from their repetitive formula.
So, Star Wars but you're an Outlaw
Alright I'm sold
Think Han Solo, exploring a portion of the galaxy, taking up tasks
Say no more!
But we're using an ugly female
Not helping, but ok.
And our animators are all interns/Indians
I can overlook that I guess if the gameplay is go-
And every aspect of the game handles like a shovelware PS1-game
.......maybe I'll wait on a sale
Also you can't be an Outlaw, you *have* to be good
Pass.
Cal is a confident straight white male who actually enters a heterosexual relationship with a conveniently attractive heterosexual woman, which makes him a traditionalist gigachad by modern western fiction's standards.
not understanding the potential cool factor in being a smuggler in the middle of a galactic war, doing under the table deals, avoiding bounty hunters, and selling illicit goods to the highest bidder so you can further upgrade your ship to be faster, deadlier, and stealthier until it's a barely recognized amalgamation of shit kickery
Don't fault the concept when the entire problem is the execution.
This might be unpopular but I think Ubisoft are actually very good at making maps. They're just terrible at giving you anything interesting to do in them.
the concept is not a realistically viable set of systems for a video game. We're just not there.
Why did they even bother making DLC for a flop?
gcw and jedi stuff gets tiresome. personally i would love a star wars game where i can just be a smuggler, customize my own ship, have no allegiance to rebels or empire, and have a crew of morally grey people who don't care about light side or dark side and everyone simply wants to get rich, fuck aliens, and get drunk at cantinas.
All they had to do was copy the Assassin's Creed RPG, Division, and Ghost Recon games formula onto a bounty hunter game.
mmh yes all of this looks fun
I basically just want someone to smash Rebel Galaxy & Freelancer together, and Star Wars theme it.
I don't think it is unpopular take at all, the map itself and exterior design of the world is fucking immaculate in pretty much all ubislop, Assassin's Creed Shadows included. That just can't really carry games further than maybe the opening hour if playing on that pretty map isn't fun and engaging enough.
total ubisoft death
Any of those space combat trading sim games has like 80% of it down, all it needs is an integral smuggler plot rather than a "you can do anything" one.
So many games already flopped doing the same tired tropes. There's nothing wrong in concept with doing something new in the setting. The execution was just horrible.
Sure but the gameplay is just spreadsheets in those, they don't have you actually doing any of that shit on the ground level, you just drive a spaceship and hit "sell goods".
why do you niggers keep saying shit like "boughted" and "engoodened/enshitted", is it some sharty dogwhistle shit
It is also funny how Disney has gone out of it's way to sanitize Outer Rim in general when it comes to enslaved women.
Not even Hutt crime lords are evil enough to have scantily-clad slave dancers and trophy girls in gold bikinis anymore, that would be too bad kind of a criminal!
Probably for people like me who aren’t fans but still think the world is cool. Same deal with the harry potter game
It's not like infiltrating a base and stealing some high value loot or walking up to a contact and exchanging a good is anything difficult to implement either. Hell, even Star Wars Galaxies had a smuggling minigame and contraband detection system at launch back in 2003.
the biggest missed opportunity in Jedi is that the devs fell for the open world meme instead of falling for the parryslop meme
the game is so fucking good in the Rayvis fight and the final boss on the hardest difficulty, it mogs the fuck out of Sekiro, just needs to be harder and have more fights like those
I forgot this game even existed.
You have to be competent to do the everyman character within a franchise of super powerful and iconic characters, but it’s definitely doable. Just not by anyone at Ubisoft. Lots of devs of old were able to do it, look at half the mmos boomers had, you were surrounded by characters like the lich king and illidan and stuff but just being a regular mercenary collecting boar asses was still completely acceptable. The games problems lie with people who don’t know or actually enjoy video games are now the ones making them.
They were already making the DLC before the release of the base game.
A character creator would have saved this game.
It's still not a good game but people would have bought it anyway if they could design their own headcanon smuggler.
Ubisoft is selling season passes and ultimate editions (as usual), and would have to refund them all if they don't make all the promised content.
someone mod her into a fat assed Twilek stripper so I can finally play this game
It is pretty bonkers that the last single player Star Wars game with player options ranging to playing a customized alien was Jedi Academy in fucking 2003.
I seriously never understand that shit when it comes to the progressive left. Bad guys can simply be bad guys, not misunderstood people. Slaves were, and always have been a thing.
My dream Star Wars game is a KotoR style RPG where you play as a normal-ish dude who fights primarily with blasters. Main plotline is your basic jedi vs bad people but you can choose whether you want to get involved with the jedi or the villain faction or just try to go through your main questline (finishing a job for a Hutt, it goes wrong, and then dealing with that fall out) while avoiding the Jedi who are the space-cops.
Make the protagonist slightly force sensitive but becoming a jedi/sith is an extremely time consuming side quest which is difficult to find/start but highly rewarding if you follow through with it.
I really want to see more force users who aren't involved in some kind of cosmic moral battle. Just a con artist who uses the mind trick every now and then, or a gambler who uses force push to make dice go his way, that sort of thing.
Ironically Ubisoft did make a game about playing a hot twi'lek outlaw... In 2006.
All they had to do was some like like FC5, where you conquer bases. Then add 10-15 iconic Star Wars guns and let the player go wild. Not the shitty stealth stuff or endless bike rides. Give them a blaster and let them blast.
There, game saved.
It never stood a chance at being "engoodened" anon youtu.be
who CARES?
Most people? They want to deal with the smuggling rings, the Hutts, the civilian-level issues that plague the universe rather than these extremely specific high-level threats in the Jedi, Sith, Mandalorians, etc. How do people live in these hive cities? How do people deal with the lawlessness in basically everything that's not civilized planets? How do randos deal with pirating?
It's all fascinating and a great way to world build. Why do you think Andor and Rogue One were fairly well received? It's all normal people issues. Han is no one special, he's just a random smuggler yet becomes involved in important things despite it.
A lot of progressives have their own gay and lame version of the "fiction dictates reality" mindset, but instead of panicking about fiction making young men into murderers or satan worshipers like their church mom mothers they are now hysterically worried that fiction makes young men into sexists and rapists.
call your game "Outlaws"
it's the safest cookie-cutter shit ever
Now that looks like something Id buy
They legally have to release the DLC they promised because it has a season pass. They're probably gonna sunset it now because I don't believe it has any sort of internal store, this was the second expansion pack, and as it was all the discussion about it was a handful of people coping hoping new content will make it better.
For me, it’s something similar to Star Wars galaxies. But I know this generation can’t play games where you’re just doing some sort of trade, it’s too boring for them. I miss the old days.
Even Star Wars Galaxies got ruined (partially) because the project lead thought that they need to make it more of a power fantasy.
a tripfag of all people talking about the importance and interest of 'regular characters'
kys faggot and drop that shit bitch ass nigga
strong female stereotype at the forefront
oof
yikes
owchiewawa
that came down from lucasarts bosses after wow came out and they panicked.
build the game around a solid base foundation
have to entirely flip it on its head and redo the entire class tree to cater to WoWtards due to higher-ups thinking MMOs need to be fast and furious
when was the last time you guys ever saw a game dev publically admit fault, it's like seeing a unicorn.
*smacks lips*
What a shame.
John Carmack publicly apologized for Rage's bad PC port and Id's general struggles with PC optimization at the time, but still did not acknowledge Rage not really being a good game.
Disney Star Wars
DLC did not save the game
Sell me your vision for your star wars game Anon Babble (and no, "just bring galaxies back" isn't a valid answer).
10 reviews
That's a massive bomb
Carmack publicly apologized, while at the same time throwing AMD under the bus since 90% of the PC port's reported problems were AMD users, to which iD gave AMD AMPLE time to unfuck their drivers for the game prior to its release, and they didn't do squat.
Ubisoft USED to be able to make games like that, previous far cries and watch dogs. They're devolving.
Contractual obligations for deluxe preorders.
milly players easy, you chuds just dont understand numbers
Watch wogs
3 hour dlc
first corporate review I saw from gamingbolt recommended skipping cutscenes to get through faster
they still gave it an 8 and called it a fantastic turnaround
I wonder if it hurts to sell out that hard
Shut the fuck up
its wash hogs, get it right
They waited this long to release DLC? lol
Dark forces was awesome.
It already had it's first DLC but nobody cared about that either.
holy shit more people probably worked on the dlc than played it
lol that's fucked but makes sense, outlaws was terrible from what i played.
regular person is fine - that's how SW started in general, Outlaws has ugly dei retards and that's a problem
they made a dlc for this?
They were retarded enough to sell a season pass, they had to.
I'm convinced that Star Wars Outlaws was supposed to be the great Ubisoft saver they were banking everything on. Reminder that Ubisoft was originally going to just dump Assassin's Creed: Shadows to the Christmas market 2024 when it was obviously unfinished, and panicked and delayed it after Outlaws bombed. Outlaws flopping absolutely did way more damage to Ubisoft than AC: Shadows underperforming.
season pass in a single player game
I hope ubisoft dies
There would be great appeal if the game wasn't sanitized as hell with a shitty main character who despite her criminal status is one the nicest, goodest goodie two shoes in the whole setting, this dogshit appeals to literally nobody.
Like imagine a game where you play as a proper CRIMINAL, stealing from the empire, innocents, rebels and creating your own criminal enterprise with a mass effect-like dialogue wheel, but disney star wars is for 3 year olds only so that's never happening.
