I actually own one and have used it for emulation.
They're kinda weak and the ARM processor is a pain in the ass compatibility-wise. Feels slightly too weak as a streaming client too, which by extension also makes it a bit dodgy for Kodi stuff. Realistically not worth the money for that particular use case. I replaced it with a Mini PC (still arguably not worth but I didn't see myself getting real use out of a Steam Deck or similar handheld PC) and use the Pi for home automation experiments now.

Software emulators are portable and are on literally everything, running them on a low power machine has zero benefit. MiSTer cores can only run on that platform and were specifically engineered for it. As for why you want FPGA the main answer is no input lag, no bloated OS, actual 240p/480i support and the ability to use native controllers.

I bought a Pi 5 recently, it seems capable of emulating GC and PS2 games but I haven't tested a lot of games since I'm using it as a small headless home server (running Void Linux btw). I'm thinking of getting a second one for Steam Remote Play to play games in my comfy bed.
