There's a difference between hitstop as games should typically implement it, brief little freeze frames on big impacts to sell how juciy they are, and what this game is doing, which is grabbing a lever and slowing the game down every single time something "cool" happens. It's not even hitstop. It's like if you took people's complaints about Glory Kills getting in the way of the combat pacing, and then stretched that out across every single parry and melee attack in the game instead.

like, people can still kill him under a second wth bigass combo. But the poblem is that with his mobility and shield, he forces YOU to adjust. When going fast, you generally know the spawnpoints and can chain from enemy to enemy, changing weapon to whatever fits with flow
meanwhile, marauder forces you to use certain weapon for certain situation. You're no longer in full controll, and his speed means he can force you to switch to let's say, shotgung when you wanted to open with balista for a quick stun'n'kill. But that's concern for thos skill gods that goes for maximum speed and fastets times. average to good player will still kill off marauders, even two of them at once since game gives you a lot of powerups and shit to just not get hit
meanwhile, shitter will cry because they lack skill to execute those 1s fast kill and brains to deal with enemy that literally tells you with glow when to shoot

Actual review: the siege was hype as fuck. Playing the dragon and going from airship to airship felt like panzer dragoon lite and dealing with the bosses was tight as hell.

Dunno if there's an actual tracker for it but I feel like in my playthrough my most 3 used weps were Impaler, Super Shotgun and Ravager in that order. Impaler just felt so satisfying to use once I got the empowered shots perk

That's two too many. Hell, it doesn't even sell the power fantasy of the slayer. The opposite in fact. Presumably anyone can operate those turrets and they mow down demons far more efficiently than the slayer does in normal gameplay.

Doom 2016 and eternal for sure have all those elements, but i can understand that doom2 mazes are diffirent than fake maze of modern doom with green lights showing you where to go. Still you have a shitton of "secrets" that require you to go out of your green lit way
doom as you described it, wasn't that because of pure design, but also because that was the limit of what you can make with games. Marathon was already pushing the limits of doom-like games together with system shock. We cannot go back to these times, nor we can make modern game with just that archetype, because even for hardcore fans it would be boring. We tried that with quake champions and even without overwatch skills game would die

pretty much against everything, when you parry it lines up the easiest headshot which kills 99% of things when the shot is enhanced. The only demon which is felt like it wasn't that good against is both forms of arachnotrons, and that's what I used super shotty for.

See that imp over there? Dead in 1 shot to head or two to the body. See that pinky rider? Deleted in 2-3 shots at range. Use and abuse its range when things get heated.

All the weapons get the job done but they have their advantages over others.

The one with Karl Urban/The Rock is okay. It's an Aliens clone with a couple fun sequences. It has basically nothing to do with Doom besides some of the monsters looking similar and its set on Mars.

Doom: Annihilation is a low budget piece of shit made just so they could keep the rights. I wouldnt' even watch it for a laugh.
