Might come as a shock for some of you zoom zooms
Did you know Canadians used to make good games?
nu deus ex
good
I don't think those other deus ex games were that good, maybe mediocre at best
I thought human revolution was alright
HR wasn't good though.
The bigger shock is that Americans used to make some of the best games, but something happend in 2001.
Does Rayman count? french creator but leaf studio
nu/v/ hates human revolution now
cringe
I don't think that's the consensus here, i just 100% it earlier, an anon recommended it to me in new years
at worst i think its not as good as the OG games but thats always been a high bar to beat
the stealth being the objectively better way to get XP in HR is the only real critique i have on it
What does the zoom zooms have to do with this?
HR was great, MD had good tech and graphics but they gutted the story to be sold as DLC and never forgot the scummy DLC practice
DLC stories are unrelated to main game.
only bisexual british bald "man" thinks it's bad
canadians made splinter cell
gonna need a minute....
The train station bombing investigation should've part of the main game
It was better than Invisible War.
HR was pretty great. MD had even better gameplay and level design but the story and concept was ill-conceived. Neither as great as the original but fuck, infinitely better than Invisible War (though even that has some great vibes).
Are deus ex games, the only conspiracy theory games out there?
I've cleared it four times and every attempt painstakingly went out of my way to ensure nobody died and no alarms went on - reloading if there was even a shred of doubt and double-checking all bodies to make sure they were unconscious rather than dead. Still took me 3 attempts to get pacifist, and still never got no alarms which irritates the shit out of me
Hbomberguy didn’t hate Human Revolution, he just thought it didn’t compare to the original Deus Ex, and he’s right.
didn’t hate
he was very vitriolic in his lor of the rings-sized video
The mission where your helicopter crashes and you have the choice to either save or let malik die is why you didn't get pacifist
I didn't really like MD when it came out other than the hub, which wasn't enough to carry it imo, because the awful ending left such a bad taste.
Replayed it again recently and I was actually shocked at how bad the story is compared to previous entries - DE has always been globe-trotting conspiracies with macro consequences for the entire human race.
MD is just some terrorists blow up a train station and then unsuccessfully blow up some CEO's summit, and that's it. It's mind numbingly boring and the stakes are abysmally low.
Might come as a shock for some of you zoom zooms
posts prime zoomercore
what did he mean this?
im 20 and HR was was the only dude sex i knew up till MD
Wrong - I saved her, tranq'd all the enemies and then had to run around like a retard each time to pull some of the bodies back from the box guard before it explodes and kills them. Annoying that it took 3 playthroughs when I was so careful, and infuriating that i've still failed to get no alarms apparently despite taking over precautions
Couldn't play this piece of shit since it had no controller support
Not her, 5/10 times a guard dies by collateral damage from that tank and it counts as a kill
Wesker were you behind the 9/11 attacks Fuck you and Fuck the Umbrella Corporation.

HR was rightfully criticised on release. These are last remnants of old/v/. I liked HR more than IW overall but it has plenty of flaws. Still better than anything that can be made today and scratches the itch adequately enough.
Unless I'm misremembering there is some bug that clears no alarms in some area. Look it up.
Human devolution is just a worse version of invisible war.Especially in the weapons and aug department.
What's the critique, you didn't mention anything
other people said things
not an argument
It had criticisms but it was still widely beloved by Anon Babble.
The overnight turnaround on HR when the beta leaked was crazy.
HR was rightfully criticised on release. These are last remnants of old/v/
pure revisionism
he was very vitriolic in his lor of the rings-sized video
Deus Ex is an RPG.
Human Revolution is a shooter with RPG elements.
You see the difference?
Battlefield, DICE somehow keeps predicting the future
Also CoD too desu, we are basically living in BO2 minus Hillary
The first deus ex is like death stranding, no one plays it but they watched an essay video of some faggot talking about it and suddenly they are it's biggest fans
Exhibit A
Beyond Good and Evil
It has lots of good going for it. Still plenty of anons hated the waist-high cover and takedowns. It looks cool for a cutscene-like moment until you get sick of it while actually playing.
Firearms are a bit better than in the original at least.
Metal Gear, Hitman
Not him but I remember the common complaints.
There was no end of complaining about the piss filter
Also much bitching about its seeming incongruity as a prequel, as it presented a past that looked more advanced than its future
Loads of hacking even if you don't want to be a hacker
Frustrating bosses that made non-lethal runs impossible (prior to the Director's Cut). People really hated this
A much drier story than the original, with almost every conversation circling the theme of augs, and even backstreet hobos and whores are talking about augs
Weirdly-proportioned character models. Some goofy looking faces too
No more skill points, all upgrades are done through Praxis, and there are enough of these Praxis pods in the game to make Jensen good at almost everything before its over. The RPG convention of a "build" doesn't apply in HR
Deus Ex is one of my favorite games but im kind of worried about playing HR and it ends up being shit
Deus Ex is one of my favorite games but im kind of worried about playing HR and it ends up being shit
HR is fine if you don't expect it to equal deus ex and only be mildly in the same vein.
There's nothing wrong with it, its' just nowhere near as good.
hows the music, that was one of the most charming aspects of the original
It's great to good
hows the music, that was one of the most charming aspects of the original
Opening movie music is amazing, the rest of the music is serviceable at worst with a few good pieces. Nothing horrendous and it fits the tone.
>There was no end of complaining about the piss filter
Irrelevant.
Also much bitching about its seeming incongruity as a prequel, as it presented a past that looked more advanced than its future
Slightly relevant.
Loads of hacking even if you don't want to be a hacker
True and one of the bigger flaws since it nullifies items and forces a specific playstyle.
Frustrating bosses that made non-lethal runs impossible (prior to the Director's Cut). People really hated this
Meh,they were annoying but the amount was too low to care about.
A much drier story than the original, with almost every conversation circling the theme of augs, and even backstreet hobos and whores are talking about augs
Bigger issue is how anything conspiracy related just got dropped and you get barely any drip feeds past the first hub. Desu ex 1 bombarded you with conspiracies, this can't even commits to is singular one.
Weirdly-proportioned character models. Some goofy looking faces too
Not even worth a comment.
No more skill points, all upgrades are done through Praxis, and there are enough of these Praxis pods in the game to make Jensen good at almost everything before its over. The RPG convention of a "build" doesn't apply in HR
The fusion of augs and skills that any post deus ex 1 game has can work. Unfortunately it never does because everybody just removes skills instead of fuses. Also, loosing weapon skills removes the builds as you said, no idea why Harvey and the Frenchies can't figure that out.
Obligatory
a 9/10 isnt as good as a 10/10 therefore the 9/10 is bad
???
hr is great
md is good, but could have been great
they made Jagged Alliance 2, my favorite game. i never forgot
