500 posts aren't gonna be enough.
Deltarune
Silk Song
Elder Scrolls 6
Atlyss
Caveman Town
Unironically:
Kenshi 2, Half-Life 3, Star Citizen
110% confirmed to release before Zomboshit: Escape from Tarkov, Deadlock, Zed Zone
GTA 7
I've been wondering how they're going to come to terms with the fact that a lot of people say they really enjoy the first 20 hours or so of a new game, and then they get bored because there's no objective anymore. And I guess the answer is if they never release the game they never have to address that dilemma.
Scam citizen
I used to think SC was the real forever game, but Zomboid has completely mogged it.
make game where the foundation is your character will die and you will lose everything
keep adding really grindy features discouraging risk taking
Am I stupid? Isn't this really incongruous? If I need to grind up blacksmith or something that character is going to be a fucking shut-in because they're too valuable to do anything but produce weapons with the amount of grind put into them.
The game already has a feature where you paint the world to identify what belongs as the player's base. Just copy/paste that but apply more code to it for NPCs to hang out at your base.
paint a farming zone
recreation zone
eating zone
sleeping zone
Then the base perimeter that you painted yourself has pathing for AI to wander the premises, interacting with each of the sub-zones you painted on top of that.
I did like their idea of re-adding Kate & Baldspot as NPCs who have a goal to go somewhere on the map. So it'd be 20 hours of setting yourself up, receiving a distress call on the radio and then helping them to 'win' the game.
whoa... 15+ years of dev to make rimjobworld zombies or survivalist invisible strain except both already hit 1.0
I tried playing this game but it's too nuanced for my smooth brain. 7 days to die is more my type.
this is the story of you died chud
Hard pill to swallow but PZ will either never be finished (abandoned) or they will churn out a feature incomplete 1.0 just like 7DTD. No one could develop the same fucking game for 20+ years (if you think this is releasing before 2030 you're fooling yourself).
One good thing I can say about Zomboid is that it was totally worth $10 I paid for it back when zombies were all 2D.
I got it for a few bucks in the Baldspot and Katie days but I have zero desire to play it again until it actually releases. The devs would get a lot less flak if they didn't display their incompetence at every opportunity.
I remember buying zomboid trough the dev webpage and then it never came out, i don't even own the game on steam and i'm not even sure you can play the game on the webpage.
You are entitled to a steam key, I did the same and received a Steam key as soon as it released on Steam. It probably even already is in your old mails and you didn't notice.
I've been playing a new fork of CDDA recently: CLG.
Its really fun and a refreshing challenge compared to cdda. I'm eating barbeque sauce and pumpkin slices to survive and trying to salvage a battery from somewhere to at least get a light working.
Had to burn down a house to collect the foundation for rocks to make a fire pit (there was probably an easier way).
Might visit the nearby town if i dont get eaten by geese or smashed by a zombie deer.
Anyway how is your gameplay zomboid?
No one could develop the same fucking game for 20+ years
Unreal world
Yet the calorie system is still completely broken where you can shovel down tonns of food and LOSE weight until you die, unless you do ridiculous cheesy shit like devour bars of butter...or you can just catch a fish and be a fat fucker.
bruh we got gta vi before npcs :skull: :skull: :cryingemoji:
i'll wait for them to release the game....anytime now....
The game somehow allows you to get NEGATIVE calories. Which is fucking nonsensical and not how energy works.
Oh shit, I haven't eaten any food in a day or two
Eats a nice big hearty meal
Still wasting away despite having just eaten enough food to last a day
Zomboid started in 2011
Scam Citizen started in 2013
Who's going to finish first?
CDDA mogging zomboid for decades straight now
Is it that guy's full time job or hobby? TIS are full time employees.
Obviously SC. Should I remind you Squadron 42 is releasing next year?
If HL3 actually releases before PZ though, many keks will be had.
Do it now because it's not guaranteed you'll still be able to do it later. Save yourself a few bucks and enjoy a nice pizza instead, on the house.
Neither. Both developers will die of GRIDS long before that happens.
All of them. PZ 1.0 is never coming out.
ITT: we list games that will release before PZ 1.0.
1.0
1.0 is never happening. These developers cannot balance the melee system after a decade, do you really think they can deal with the numbers/balance required for NPC's?
Hell yeah brother.
CDDA, CBN, CLG.
Doesnt matter the fork, still beats zomboid any day.
EFT
You mean it isn't officially released?
Me, in all senses
What is CLG? I tried bright nights for a bit and it was fun for a little while. From what I know it's like a streamlined version of actual CDDA? I also don't have a numpad anymore which might impede me from playing roguelikes in general atm..
Listen up, what if we create a great concept for a zombie game and when it becomes really popular we're going to turn it into the sims zombie edition
yea dude, that sounds great
fucking hell
All I want is for someone to make a 3D real time CDDA with a style similar to PZ and I'll be happy.
Half Life 5
Fifa 2097
How it different than BN?
all
That's a BIG ask
As dogshit as the game is in many respects I still haven't really seen a game that handles zombie population simulation as well as it. So I continue to hold out hope that B42 stable will release within the next 12 months.
Playing the game with friends and gun mods and just trying to genocide the entire map (respawn off 16x pop) is fun.
Rimworld with player character and multiplayer is a good idea tho
Didn't they massively downscale SC? I thought it was meant to be a persistent MMO
What's the best zombie games currently anyway?
Reminder:
B42 early build was released 6 months ago
B41 was released more than 3 years before that
Not saying it's the best but dead island 2 is currently free on epic
As far as I understand that's still the case, maybe you're thinking of Squadron 42.
Is there a story or something in this game? Seems silly to add so many mechanics for nothing
How would you feel if you hadn't eaten breakfast this morning?
That's a BIG ask
Not really? Since everything I've heard about PZ is how little the devs have accomplished, meanwhile CDDA has all the actual content and features included so all they have to do is make it work in real time and with 3D characters you can control directly.
The only story this game has is how fucking incompetent and full of liars the dev team is
But I did eat breakfast this morning
No, they are betting it all on le emergent storytelling. However, depending on NPC implementation it can be actually interesting but I have little hopes from the dev team.
Don't valley girl question mark at me ever again?
The big ask IS the transition to 3D environment. This is the same reason why no one has made a 3D Doft Fort, RimWorld or traditional rogue like.
B42 completely fucking ruining the game and all the ledditor yesman keep encouraging the incompetent devs to go ahead with this doomed build. We truly live in hellworld.
Okay, sorry.
But still I don't see why it's such a big ask if PZ could do it and they're shitty devs. The 3D real time part seems like the easy part, which is why everyone is complaining that they've not implemented the other stuff yet which should be easy to do.
That always seemed more like laziness to me. I've not played Rimworld but I know that DF already has and simulates Z-Levels, which means you should be able to make it 3D without much of an issue.
honestly 41 ruined the game for me
fucking weighted movement
I enjoy fucking around in Zomboid but this game could really use NPCs that aren't from a jank mod
I didn't play it before 41. What do you mean by weighted movement?
If you mean the momentum/inertia your character has when moving/running I've got to disagree, I like when games have that. Makes your guy feel less like a weightless token and more like the however-many-pounds bag of meat that they are.
how did they memory-holed this so quickly?
It's possible it was a fair mistake but if you don't ask yourself "is this AI?" at a glance you shouldn't be asked to vet shit to be added into the game.
are there any good zombie games that focus on both player survival and npc management? i want to start with nothing and build a settlement, recruit survivors to my place and expand. sending people out on expeditions to get food and resources or going myself and stocking up our supplies
SQ42 is the single player thing that was supposed to release in 2016 that people meme on, but as it stands there's a good chance it releases next year.
SC is the MMO part of it that has a roadmap to 1.0 but no actual release date still.
are there any good zombie games
State of Decay, Survivalist Invisible Strain (1st one is very janky not worth it), there are other games with no NPCs but hoping you'll work with other players. If you are willing to play text based games or others with minimal presentation there's possibly some other examples.
I'm tempted to start a new run with 42 even if the mods I want aren't ported over yet, simply because they added the ability to smelt jewellery into gold and silver ingots.
In previous runs I always liked playing a 'magpie' character who would steal all the gold stuff they could from corpses but there's not much you could do with it.
