What do we think of them?
What do we think of them?
they are pretty terrible at making games but they have pretty okay taste in what they adapt
we think poorly of them
It can always be worse.
I like their jank games.
tedium in every little aspect of the game, from exploration to combat, thanks to rest mechanics and permanent stat drains.
This is doubly as egregious in the 1st act where not only do you have very limited resources, you are also on a rather tight time limit which if you're not fast enough makes you lose chunks content. Any time you get stat drained in the 1st act, it is objectively better to just reload the game and redo the fight, rather than rest it out or travel back to the base of operations to buy restoration scrolls thus wasting limited time and money - a clear evidence of garbage game design.
equally as tedious and exceptionally shitty tacked-on HoMM clone minigame, which if disabled through a difficulty option makes you miss out on some good gear.
even MORE tedious prebuff rituals that you have to redo any time you load into a new map, the further you are into the game the longer they become.
combat encounters are numerous and feel like shit.
Vast majority of them pose zero challenge, and those that do aren't won by approaching from different angles (more often than not there aren't any) or careful planning and positioning - they're won by stacking as many short buffs as possible and beelining for priority targets.
the gameplay.
Above paragraph pretty much says it all - it's as mindless and samey as it can be.
loading screens EVERYWHERE.
Here's your average experience: leave the location you're in *load*; teleport and enter drezen *load*; rest *load*; go out of the keep to sell loot *load*; decide to put some loot in the stash - back into the keep *load*; go back to world map *load*; start building projects - *load x2* PER SETTLEMENT; engage an enemy army *load x2*; travel and enter new location *load*; you can now play the game (after you complete your 5 minute long prebuff session) :)
Saviors of crpg genre, making the only good stuff in recent years.
How the fuck did you ran out of time in Act 1? Every friend that played these games always complain that they finish all side quests and main quest, and then have to wait for weeks and weeks just to progress the main story.
This is about wotr, dumbass.
I love them. Cant wait for DH.
wait for the game to be released
wait for the bugs to be fixed
wait for the DLCs to be released
wait for the bugs to be fixed
You shouldn't play their games at release.
we
Only half decent game was kingmaker, rest is slop forever.
Indeed. Speaking of which, is rogue trader in a playable state?
Yes, but it's not finished and it never will be. And no, slapping unrelated dlcs on it won't make it any more finished than it was 2 years ago
Kingmaker was a great module owlcat didn't write in a shitty engine that was almost up to the task. I love it short of a mod backporting all WOTR's class shit into Kingmaker I can't bring myself to replay it now. WOTR is fucking terrible and the engine is worse but I dont even hate it til the super god powers kick in.
What is *unfinished*? You can play it from start to finish without any game breaking bugs/ broken side activites and reach zealot in every path. Why people lie in internets?
Not really.
Ask any Pathfinder player and they will tell you that the adventure paths for their games are by far the worst part of their games. It got especially bad for Starfinder.
So Owlcat took a property and put forth a faithful adaptation of the worst possible product in their catalog not once but fucking twice.
I really tried to like their games. Kingmaker I thought it got boring because it was a too close an adaptation of pathfinder and pathfidner is astoundingly bad. Whoever thought that in order to fix the bloated corpse that was 3.5 they needed to add more bloat was pants on head retarded. But then I tried Rogue Trader and i found out that owlcat just can't into gameplay. I can't really comment on the writing since I dropped both games in Act 1 but it seemed ok i guess.
best part of pathfinder is having so many different paths to go down
play rouge trader
only three options for character routes, fanatical zealot, reddit good guy, or hilariously heretical retard who would be killed instantly realistically.
story is entirely linear
character constantly walking up to high authority priests/etc and asking them who Sigmar is
companions unfuckable
playable character is always destined to be shittier than the companions as he no exclusive perks
The biggest flaw of their games is having to wait 2 years after release until they are actually done
For some reason they really don't want me to fuck a giant muscle girl but I remain undeterred.
I think this is now a camcam thread.
what do we think?
what do you think about?
stop thinking. just stop.
The more of their games that I try, the more I dislike them.
I liked the two pathfinder games but I skipped their 40k game as I have no interest in 40k.
What is *unfinished*?
Plotlines that go nowhere, nonsensical railroading, narrative parts that are obviously missing, etc.
Slut
Redpill me on Dark Heresy. What is it about?
Hidden blasphemies
Being a low ranking glowie and getting eaten by mutants
That sounds cool, I like cloak and dagger stuff.
low ranking glowie
I am a powerlevel fag and this displeases me. Kingmaker to WotR, big power boost in the MC strenght, Rogue Trader to Dark Heresy feels like a downgrade.
Very highly.
Yes, this is why pathfinder is the superior setting.
companions unfuckable
this is just not true, maybe if you're a fag who got cucked out of romance by owlkeks
I like 'em but I am seething about their release cycle, they can't finish a fucking dlc for around a year now
I guess it does make sense, dlcs are likely made by a skeleton crew while the main team works on the next game but it gets fucking annoying when every release is like that, there will be no real reason to play Dark Heresy on launch and you'll have to wait at least another year for them to bring in content
Did you really save scam to restore drained levels from enemy attacks? It's as if your build options and not picking a single lesser restoration don't matter, right? At this point just boot cheat engine and storm through the game if you have to resort to save scamming in act 1.
>low ranking glowie
That anon is being disingenuous. You can be as low ranking or as high ranking as your GM wants you to be. It all depends on the campaign he's running. The rulebook has rules for becoming an inquisitor for example
Congratulations on completely missing the point, you absolute fucking retard.
Did you really save scam to restore drained levels
I did because I'm not going to engage with shit mechanics
Buggy releases but their games are fun. Like larian they seem to understand the systems they are adapting and RT at least isn't as badly bloated of a system as pathfinder. Seriously the learning curve for PF is a cliff, RT is much more reasonable for a newbie
They are neat and their next game will let me kill Tau.
will let me fuck Tau
fixed that for you, you're welcome
