I genuinely think FromSoft has gone senile.
I genuinely think FromSoft has gone senile
They've developed artistic tunnel vision, DaS2 did permanent damage to their desire to actually pursue new ideas
but sekiro
but nightreign
Yes, all they can do now is copy established trends.
I forgot about this game. Fromesoftware reign is over
I’ve never seen a dev sell out this hard and fast before.
Elden ring has a lot of fromsoft making a linear tunnel fighter game and forgetting its meant to be an open world, and then they didnt improve things in the dlc which is sad.
Dragonirian Brainrot Challenge (Impossible): Try to go a single Fromsoft thread without mentioning DS2
Miyazaki seriously needs to move on from having the same gameplay and same anesthetics in almost all his games. Stop with the medieval/victorian stuff. The craziest thing is he never surpassed DS1, his games got more and more linear and gave more and more soace to crap like pvp
If Nightreign was a free update to Elden Ring I would probably put 10+ hours into it
Impressive, have a (you)
The craziest thing is he never surpassed DS1
Are you me? I've felt like every game post Dark Souls has been missing something.
Nothing has come even close to Sen's Fortress or even something as basic as the art style and sound design of DS1.
How so? They have been essentially making the same two games since 1997 and this isn't even the first time they released some shitty spin off of one of their main franchises. AC Nine Breaker for example was just a repackaged AC Nexus with literally no content outside of Arena battles and trainings missions.
spambot
Does zanzibart finally forgive you in dark souls 5 coop edition?
gone
Lol
I’ll still take a DS rehash over these shitty multiplayer cash grabs for a quick buck.
The main thing people liked about DS1 was
- interconnected world
- the weird lore you learn from this world
It was once called archeologist gameplay, which kind of made sense. The thing is people seem to not realize that.
DS3, most linear DS, might as well just be a regular action game.
Bloodborne, less linear than DS3 but nothing like DS1. Way more linear in the second half. Wish it was just a straight up horror game instead of having action gameplay.
Sekiro, the best one in my opinion after DS1, some interconnection and the gameplay and setting were different, it was an unique experience.
Elden Ring, biggest mixed bag, some parts are amazing but a lot of it is trash that feels like busywork, the open world holds it back.
Now Duskbloods, back to victorian stuff, focus on PVP, with a dash of battle royale. Full on MP focus fully away from any hint of heavy exploration.
I given up on Miyazaki at this rate and hope that someone else in the comoany just has enough pull to make a new Kings Field game that is not some linear PVP crap
They've literally never made a decent game that isn't clunky garbage.
Most people didn't even understand why they liked Dark Souls so they kept talking about muh difficulty while complaining about shit like Sen's Fortress and more punishing stuff like boss runs without understanding that those are the things that made the game good
So now we ended up with an action RPG that's LARPing as a fast paced difficult action game while removing every punishing mechanic to be normalfag friendly
sekiro
established trends
elaborate
Are you me? I've felt like every game post Dark Souls has been missing something.
Interconnected world, that's it, it's not about a world and its adventure and exploration, souls became MMOs with biomes after biomes where you start in a regular environment before going deeper and deeper into the Berzerk hell
souls devolved into "lol hard boss git gud" bait with overdramatized music.
is almost right, it's not DaS2 that destroyed Miyazaki, it's the "prepare to die edition" that launched the game into normie hypermainstream
this nigga having a melty because people are bringing up fromsoft games in a fromsoft thread
DS1 was the worst souls game.
gone
Nigga, they've been making the same game since DS1. Same shit, same programming mistakes, same models, animations, story beats. They were senile from the start.
I had so many people try to get me to play DS because I was obsessed with Monster Hunter and holy crap dud it not hold up at all. Maybe I was supposed to look at it more like an archeologist sim rather than a serious action game.
the same game since DS1
If only
They keep making worse games that steadily drop all of DS1's appeal
It's just King's Field with some third person action elements, more of a pseudo-dungeon crawler than an action game
It was always more about adventure than action
Oh no the games are similar
Do you understand what the word "genre" means?
What, you want them to make the next souls game a first person shooter? You want them to do sports games? Racing games?
action games that allow you to damage enemies then deal a scenic critical blow
God of war
Metal gear rising
Ninja gaiden
Bayonetta
You seriously aren't going to pretend sekiro has unique gameplay when its just an action game with executions
kys mayo monkey i fucking rape you
This was the last kino game they made before going to shit.
Can you retards shut the fuck up with this already? This is not the same game and that's why is bad. Is a fucking Fortnite clone.
They are not merely similiar, they're the same thing over and over
When CoD or FIFA did that it was seen as grounds for derision
They've only released Shadow of the Erdtree after AC6 and that was better than the base game.
Parry-based gameplay is more central to Sekiro than just the fact you have executions. I'll grant you MGR but I don't think one game makes a trend.
Yeah and King's Field was clunky trash.
Anons are too casual for mech games. They just want to cry about souls.
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CINEMA
wake me when they release a steel battalion style controller
When CoD or FIFA did that it was seen as grounds for derision
That's only true for FIFA. To each studio their strengths. Rockstar Games excel at making third person shooters set in realistic worlds. That's basically all they've been doing since their inception, and I sure don't want to see them try their hand at something else. Same can be said about FromSoftware. I'd rather game studios specialize and give us something good, then be jacks of all trades and masters of none. No to mention, each From game is tonally different, and indtroduces enough of a twist to warrat it's existence.
I don't know about Armored Core, but Elden Ring's base game was their last good, "inspired" souls game. SotE has set a worrying precedent that I think will define whatever they'll release in the coming decade.
Agreed. And Demon's didn't do it for me either. There is something about DS1.
Game will still sell millions of copies and exceed its budget by at least 10X
Game will still wind up a cultural phenomenon and be discussed at length over the internet about all of the things it did right
Game will still wind up warping the gaming landscape and causing devs to try tp make Dusk-likes
These threads will still be made every single day until launch and then transmute into Duskblood Seethe Threads for years after launch
I will never regret backing From as my go-to company to shill for. I still have yet to be let down by one game I've played, and every crying retard on the internet who shits blood while furiously typing their hatred (rather than just playing a video game they like) reminds me that their massive success will always yield more successes.
I wish they'd do a dlc or something. Can't believe they made such gold and then dropped it.
They've developed artistic tunnel vision
they do that sometimes.
they were deep in an armored core hole until souls took off.
it's out already?
Yeah you mean the single-player ones. Not this shit.
From has been carrying the gaming industry for the past decade, but something tells me they'll shit the bed soon. The signs are subtle, but they're there.
Pro tip: If their next game includes difficulty options, run!
From have been the studio who almost exclusively make dark fantasy games and mech games since PS1, man.
SotE has set a worrying precedent
Why? I found it way better than ER. Less empty space, less recycled bosses. Just more killer, less filler.
Did most of Anon Babble really not play this? It was fucking great. Also ng+ and ++ being a major part of the game was brilliant and they should not abandon that.
Medieval and Victorian are pretty different aesthetics to begin with. Not to mention feudal Japan.
I like Demon's, it was my first From game but it's really its own thing compared to Dark Souls. More innocent in a way. Slower. But fuck Bed of Chaos seriously what the fuck is that shit.
Fairly sure, yeah
THIS is what MiyaHACKi was working on while the B and C team worked on Shart of the Erdtree and the BR? lole
this is the most retarded arguments ever. if anything ds2 is the most derivative and experimental title out of their older catalogue.
If they are going to make another open world dark fantasy game, I want some real open world use.
multiple factions
dynamic ai,those faction fight for lands.
I want to see npc battles left and right
Honestly would like to see a sort of mount and blade/souls fusion.
I want to see Fromsoft's Wind Waker. A game that bucks the trend by being bright, colorful, and pleasant.
That’s 3
Less empty space
Oh, so you missed the finger ruins, huh?
The bosses are good but the map is emptier than base game, and the magical, dream-like, ethereal atmosphere of the Lands Between has been replaced by theis gray/brown atmosphere that tries to be like DS3's Ringed City, but fails. The lore also feels soulless and uninspired. And should I even mention the Radahn/Miquella faggotry shit?
But they've done femboys before!
They were subtle about it, and it was in good taste. The Radahn shit reeks of western influence, and I bet my left leg it wasn't Miyazaki's idea but probably the initiative of some blue haired DEI San Francisco dyke. This sets a worrying precedent for future games. I mean, Nightrein's mascot is a negress.
You can do empty space right. Honestly souls with shadow of the colossus might work.
Experimental how? Dual weilding and ADP? Is that it?
DS1 is definitely the best Souls game they have made (as for game, there is an argument for Sekiro)
I like DS3 a lot, but its worse, DS2 is DS2, and ER the worst game they have made since DS2
Ah yes, From is washed, this was so long ago, in the age of...2022 and 2023
God you faggots are too retarded for your own good.
You are fucking retarded
Will they do anything with the King’s Field franchise ever again?
my japanese game blah blah blah....
BAWWWWWW
ER
Good
No wonder your post is this fucking retarded
DaS2 did permanent damage to their desire to actually pursue new ideas
People greatly overestimate both the amount and the importance of "new ideas" in DS2.
tried to make brand new setting
Turned out less memorable that DeS and DS1 worlds.
tried to focus on multiplayer more
That part was good, but that's not what most people play these games for.
added some new combat mechanics like powerstancing, new magic schools, etc
Most of that carried over in later games in some form and continued to improve.
had some weird mechanics like soul memory, adaptability, bonfire ascetics
I get that some people like such things, but honestly nothing of value was lost here.
I know a swan song when I see one, and Elden Ring was Miyazaki's swan song. It'll be downhill from now, and time will prove me right. Screenshot this, nigger.
Dark souls 2 was so successful they sold it twice.
And it spawned 3 dlc
And it got a sequel.
Ds2 is one of the most successful arpg games ever made.
More developped PvP content & covenants
NG+ being more than just harder scaling
Bonfire ascetics
More creative spells
Better invaders
Quests at least try to be more than "talk to npc at place x then talk at place Y then he's dead and you get shitty loot"
The (failed) torch mechanic
A more flexible upgrade system
A somewhat more dyanmic environement sometimes
I like most ideas in concept but the execution of most of them was just bad imo.
Probably not but there's a lot of decent indie games taking inspiration from it
finger ruins
Those were singular set-pieces the emptiness was limited to. Base game's every area was thin.
fembois REEEEE
lol
lmao even
I really, really hope the game plays like the Fate/Another WC3 custom game. But I don't want to get my hopes up.
Their last kino game was their previous game, released less than two years ago
You sound retarded
We've done this song and dance multiple times now if you payed attention or was even around back in the early days.
>fembois REEEEE
I already said they did femboys right in past entries.
And let's ingnore finger ruins (which take up like a third of the map), what part of the map doesn't feel like a barren brown wasteland (notwithstanding legacy dungeons)?
But elden ring felt empty too!
No. Limgrave was brimming with life, and so were Liurnia and the Altus Plateau. Even Caelid felt quite populated, despite the apocalyptic theme.
They kinda were from the start. All the souls games after 1 were just riding the fame ds1 generated without preserving what made it actually good, each time getting worse
just make game hard because normies like muh difficulty
sprinkle in some cheap fanservice to pretend we care about OG fans
Bloodborne I haven't played because PS exclusivity but it looks like it's the same case
Sekiro idgaf about it just looks like a generic AAA arpg
Elden Ring was fresh thanks to jumping and playstyle variety but open world sucks
SOTE has a better open world but it's hard to replay as it's lategame DLC for a long ass game
All the new online only games look like riding the fame ER generated yet again
Demon Souls I haven't played either but I do have a PS3 at home, is it worth digging up from somewhere?
I was around back in the day, which is why I can tell that it'll be downhill from now. Couple that with the current trends in the gaming industry and how every IP is getting bastardized and watered down (made easier) so it can be enjoyed by the lowest common denominator and I'll say it's a wrap.
I'll let this e-celeb explain it:
youtube.com
I hope this is a boy and he has a huge cock
It sucks so bad that this wasn't as wildly successful as it should've been. FROM clearly wants to focus on multiplayer, and Armored Core is so much better suited to that idea, but Souls is the popular thing so now we get all of this nonsense.
it's an extremely common opinion
For me, it's the rat (male)
Idk, I thought Bloodborne was top tier, and then Sekiro felt like an interesting off-ramp into a different style of game.
The only thing that bugs me about the series is that it's always tried to do a sort of "multiple world" or world altering mechanic but never sticks it out. Demon's Souls had World and Character Tendency, but that got undercut but how it worked online. Bloodborne had changes for characters with high Insight, but the changes are minimal. Then I guess Elden Ring had day night cycles, but again those changes were minimal and honestly just something you did to encounter a certain miniboss for a certain item.
Something like Insight but where it does more drastic changes like spawning harder enemies or new compounds in the starting areas you do a lot of backtracking through would be a good way to do a type of level scaling in a game. But then they'd have to remove fast travel from a wide enough area so that you couldn't just warp past them.
focus on muptiplayer
Souls As A Service
The future looks bright.
finger ruins (which take up like a third of the map)
They are big on the map but you don't spend much time there so who cares?
Liurnia (big flat lake) and Altus were good
Guess we'll just disagree. I liked Limgrave but after that I there wasn't enough novelty. Too much space, too many catacombs with recycled assets and bosses.
they've turned into blizzard, they know they can shit out anything and the drones will slop it up and beg for more
adds jump button
adds carryable torches that interact with the environment
adds omnidirectional movement
adds alternative healing
adds ng+ ascetics and brand new enemies just for ng+
adds enemy despawning
adds pvp covenant areas
adds respec
completely changed how fat/mid/fastrolling work
adds pharos lockstones which interact with environment and change level design
not to mention that unlike 3, it doesn't shove ds1 fanservice in your face.
most of these are elements that are used in newer fromsoft titles too.
I don't think they were ever supposed to become like the number one prestige studio in the industry, it'd be like if Ys became the new sensation among twitch steamers and sold dozens of millions of copies that just doesn't make any sense
fromsoft should have stayed a modest studio making kinda broken but interesting games instead of mass producing this sludge for normalfags larping as hadrcore gaymers
is the most derivative and experimental
is it derivative or experimental? It can't be both
>adds jump button
really? I thought that was first in Sekiro and then in ER
Hes done victorian 2 times now with this game (3 if you count his VR game) and done medieval 4 times now. Please just do something new.
Limgrave would've been better if you removed all the spirit springs and didn't give the player access to Torrent until they defeated Leonine Misbegotten or Margit or exited Limgrave entirely.
anesthetics
fucking phoneposters kek
Sekiro genuinely would have been a better game if it embraced more of its Tenchu DNA and ditched the majority of its Souls-like elements.
SOTE has a better open world but it's hard to replay as it's lategame DLC for a long ass game
If you're actually good and knows where to look, you can rush the DLC in about 2 hour on a fresh save. The only hard part is to kill Mogh at a low rune level and low weapon upgrade but it's manageable. Add 1 more hour to prep a bit more and then he's easy enough.
And if you're in NG+ then it's really just a matter of killing Radhan and Mogh again, it should be easy then since you already have a build.
Dark Souls 2 didn't have a jump button or omnidirectional movement. In fact it's the game that's notorious for having some kind of fucked up deadzone that prevents you from turning smoothly.
Most of the rest of those were terrible ideas that should never have been in any of these games.
More like AGP lmao
adds jump button
That was Sekiro
Most experiments are derivative yes.
I've come to accept that From will never make another game as good as Dark Souls 1 and Team Ninja will never make another game as good as Nioh 2.
To this day I still don't know why Sekiro gets a pass. Everything outside of the bosses feels slapped together, having a stealth system that bad in a ninja game is embarrassing.
For me it's how no other game actually had me feel lost and in danger. DS1 being your first game will obviously add a lot to that but nothing compares to the dread of being out of estus, far from a bonfire with no idea how you got there in the middle of Blighttown or the depths or the catacombs
The vast majority of what you mentioned is just noise, details, gimmicks, things you don't even pay attention to. It doesn't make or break a game. Compare that to Sekiro, a game that redefined the whole souls experience, and you'll see that DS2 is a conservative "true to the formula" souls entry.
not to mention that unlike 3, it doesn't shove ds1 fanservice in your face.
God forbid a sequel references a past entry. It's like saying RDR 2 is bad because it has John Marston and Jack in it.
DS1 is a half finished game that becomes a slog after you get the Lordvessel
It did with dark souls 2 but niggas only bitching about it because of a nintendo (timed?) exclusive.
not to mention that unlike 3, it doesn't shove ds1 fanservice in your face.
Hey, here's notOrnstein
Hey, praise the sun. Remember, because everyone loved Solaire back in DS1
Every major boss is also somehow related to the major bosses of DS1 for absolutely no reason
It was fine, its clear the game was not meant to be a stealth game
But you could already do that in Dark Souls 3.
They have become a parody of themselves.
I dont think hebhas even tried, maybe he never liked that type of gameplay to begin with. At this point Dark Souls 1 is the odd duck in his kinography.
Still 2h of doing chores and then being underleveled on a fresh save, but I'm kinda just nitpicking. Hopefuly there is/will be a mod that allows you to start in DLC
Well I guess you're the mainstream fan they steered their direction towards to, so no wonder you're happy about it.
I am still disappointed they moved away from DeS and DaS1 and focused more on the action game aspects and le epic duel boss fights.
Maybe one day I'll make my own game that's spiritually closer to DaS than Elden Ring will ever be.
Miyazaki seriously needs to move on from having the same gameplay and same anesthetics (sic)
Huge news for you anon but there are literally unironically other people in the world besides Miyazaki and if you want something different you don't have to run to his teat for it.
it gets a pass because it's the most action based game in the series and this is what the braindead modern fromsoft audience wants
Man I just want to play as a knight doing simple dark fantasy shit again. Elden Ring got too ridiculous. I want to go back to quaint Demon's Souls style settings.
having a stealth system that bad in a ninja game
I fully agree with this. Bethesda games genuinely have better stealth mechanics. Don’t even get me started on how certain sections are impossible to stealth unless you either walk along a very specific path or use a Gachiin Sugar. It confuses me though, because Sekiro apparently started life as a Tenchu reboot, so how the fuck did the stealth system end up being so barebones?
And the best part is that Elden Ring’s stealth mechanics are somehow even worse, since you don’t have high mobility and cremation shards for lures like you did in Sekiro.
not to mention that unlike 3, it doesn't shove ds1 fanservice in your face.
Right, it just directly copypastes a 1:1 replica of Ornstein instead of just referencing him.
I don't want to get on all fours just to play AC
There is, the randomizer can spawn you in the DLC at your desired level, with access to all the base game items in a convenient shop, with maxed out flasks, Torrent, all base crafting, etc. You can do it without randomizing of course.
It's the same complaint I have with the Witcher games. I want to deal with filthy, uneducated peasants and monster, not kings and sorceresses dealing with politics. W1 Act 4 was the peak of the series.
I just want those Dark Souls 1 highs again anon
pic
I thought that's the direction the series will go for. Not bosses and meme difficulty. Definitely not multiplayer.
L3 is the designated jump button as opposed to the series staple of double tapping the sprint button. I also moreso meant omnidirectional rolling my bad but the movement is janky I'll give you that
changes only matter when their obvious in your face apparently. compares to DeS and DS1 DS2 changes a lot of what was considered to be staples. Also I dont think stuff like Siegmeiyer is just a "reference". literally just copy pasted stuff from ds1
It's honestly barely a ninja game and more of a yolo-simulator where you're better off just running through everything, backstabbing everyone who looks in the wrong direction.
it's the dreaded PAJAMAXE WARRIOR
But they did make the main character a ninja, and also included extremely primitive stealth mechanics.
Thing about Sekiro is that it’s at its best when it’s being either Tenchu or Ninja Gaiden. It’s at its worst when it’s leaning into its Souls elements like having to grind for upgrades, enemies ambushing you in “gotcha”.
As another anon pointed out, parts of Sekiro feel rushed and cobbled together without much thought. I think the Gun Fort is easily the worst part in the game because of this.
nu-Fromfags only care about bosses that's why the fanbase considers it a 10/10
Siegmeiyer and Andre I'll give you. But not the rest.
changes only matter when their obvious
Yes. Unironically.
yup thats brony lolcow
I just want those Dark Souls 1 highs again anon
I have bad news. It's 14 years later. You'll never get the same highs even if the game was great.
L3 felt even worse imo
perfect game for coop, invasions, and a more fleshed out multiplayer than whatever we got
drops the ball hard on it
didn't even sell that much compared to elden ring
It's a Bloodborne vs Dark Slop 3 situation again
No ones even tried THO.
Please where is my Kings Fields V.
I find it funny how modern "souls-inspired" games would have the pressure plate be invisible on top of pulling all kinds of bullshit beyond that. Trial and error indeed.
if you don't regularly stretch you're back you'll get backpain and problems when you're old
the steel battalion controller saves lives!
No
Yes
lmao
lmao
No
No
They removed it, it was not failed
No
No
3 is a fucking linear game anon, what experiments
Baldur's Gate 3 won over AC6 in the 2023 Anon BabbleGAs.
I think the primarily PC poorfag crowd of this shithole never picked it up.
I can only hope it comes to pc since I actually like Duskbloods ideas compared to Nightreign
There is no way SOTE is emptier than the base games. And no those shitty ass copy pasted catacombs and caves dont count as content.
I mean... it is always the same pattern
Release good game that sells pretty well
Release ass game that sells like fucking hotcakes
Release absolute dogshit that flops
The only game that has broken the trend in these past few years have been DOOM, because Dark Ages was so expensive and had such retarded specs that people didn't buy it
adds arena
DS1's dlc did it first. though its arena sucks ass.
adds jump button
works the same way as it did in the 1st game; press circle to run, double tap circle button to perform an awkward jump.
Racing games?
if the ps2 era lasted longer they most definitely would have, kek. everyone had a gran turismo clone back then.
I played a little. It was definitely a step-up compared to the other AC games, but no way in hell is it better than BG3.
Nigga one of the most memorable boss fights in DS1 was a fucking tranny
Thing about Sekiro is that it’s at its best when it’s being either Tenchu or Ninja Gaiden.
What. The only thing people like about Sekiro is the boss fights. Why would you say it's at its best when it's being one of two games with unbelievably shit bosses?
Ninja Gaiden fans are rabid but even they can't defend the shit boss fights in those games.
I do agree with the general sentiment that I would've liked a lot more Tenchu in Sekiro, but the caveat is that I didn't like Sekiro so I would've preferred it if it were a different game.
You are fucking retarded
Read the room and look forward to your survival slop. You have Nightreign soon and Duskbloods to look forward to instead of games people actually WANT to play.
add a stealth mechanic
make enemies strong to try and incentivise its use
however, give the player such high mobility that outrunning the enemy is extremely easy
there’s no reason to fight or stealth kill enemies aside from money, XP and Spirit Charms (all of which can be obtained through other means)
even the spirit charm replenishment you get from killing enemies isn’t much use because parrying is more useful than any of the prosthetic tools
no scoring system, so the game can’t incentivise stealth or skillful play through score like many stealth games do either
The whole stealth system of Sekiro feels very poorly thought out. There’s no reason to engage with 90% of enemies in any meaningful way, and running from one boss to the next is the most optimal way to play.
It's not that I didn't play the game, I don't even know what game you guys are talking about
Hey that is really nice anon
Kill yourself, tho
Quick
If you actually try to play Sekiro like a Tenchu game (particularly in the Ashina Outskirts) there’s some satisfaction to be had, but it also stings because it feels like a glimpse of what could have been.
BG3 is a genuinely dogshit game tho
Yeah bg3 is a piece of shit
It's worse than D:OS, but it's still a great CRPG.
Man i vividly remember being terrified of that one Baletaria underground passage on the great bridge, to avoid the napalm spamming fly-by dragon.
Theres a bunch of humble enemy dogs, which back then were in fact a problem to deal with as a new player on release.
or the fact that merely touching a tiny rat instantly gave you the Plague debilitation.
Nowadays it gets all ass-raped by ever escalating power-creep.
I don't think duskblood is entirely derivative esthetically, there's some industrial revolution stuff in here that wasn't in bloodborne
I said they did trannies well in past entries, learn to read.
What you guys want isba fantasy horror game in an interconnected world. Bad news youvare not getting one.
And now we've been reduced to a bunch of copy-pasted implausibly huge tunnels with giant wheeled blade things whirling through them for no fucking reason at all. And not only does it not make any god damn sense, it's also not novel because you've seen the exact same thing copy-pasted three or four times before in identical looking hallways already. Fuck. How do people not get disheartened at this regression?
I don't feel like playing another fromsoft game after finishing the Elden Ring DLC, it feels like all soul got sucked out of the game and now it lacks substance
Le Epix So Randum Pijama Guy XDD
Okay but hear me out, Armored Core 7.
You're not wrong, though for me its not about genre in particular. its the fact that the spectacle has to be raised higher ad infinitum. Consort Radahn is a great example of this.
even the "legacy dungeons" are kind of shit, they look cool but mechanically and structure wise they feel very samey
what kind of gimmick do they even have besides stormveil's entrance routes?
More like ad nauseam.
giant tornado in the center of Farum Azula
does nothing - just looks pretty
Specimen storehouse is kinda fun with the parkour "puzzles" but that's all i can think of
Abyssal woods are unique too i guess, but those suck
Stormveil's the only good one imo
Raya Lucaria is basically a straight path with an optional side area (rooftops)
Volcano Manor looks cool but really doesn't have much, if you stick to the main path you reach Rikard in like 8 minutes
Leyndell doesn't even feel like a "legacy dungeon" and also only takes a couple minutes to walk through.
Mogwhyn is a 4 minute straight line if you use the medallion, 6 if you take the portal.
Haligtree is ok but just not very interesting imo
Nioh 3 is coming bro, trust me just another year just trust me
I liked SoP
some normal dude in pajamas
This is beyond retarded
I CLAPPED
This game was all presentation, zero intelligence, absolutely no nuance.
Stormveil
peak
Raya Lucaria
not too bad, but I didn't like the atmosphere. too "light-hearted", makes it feel like hogwarts. I would've prefered it to mimic the Grand Archives of the Lecture Building
Volcano manor
peak
Leyndell
peak
Mohgwyn Palace
wasted potential. it's a shame considering the area is associated with charismatic NPCs like Varre and Mohg
Haligtree
technically good, but it's the part where the game starts to overstay its welcome
Even if this was the end of Fromsoft, they've led game discourse for more than 15 years, during which they released 7 games (plus 1 remake). That's a long time at the top.
they've led game discourse
that doesn't mean anything
It's funny how all of them prop FROM up as some industry-defining giant when Soulslop is usually just bargain-bin trash.
Didn't read the thread yet but is it just another Fromsoft derangement samefagfest by you know who or are there real posters in here?
Those 7 masterpieces they released are enough to satify me for a lifetime. Their games are tonally distinct enough that whenever you get bored of one, you start craving the other, and so it creates a loop of infinite replayability.
Stop being pedantic, nigger, you know what he meant
Sounds like a massive excuse to justify the company going to shit. I would prefer keep getting good games.
it always starts with a passionate artistic vision and ends with investors trying to squeeze every last bit of blood out of the corpse
Dark Souls 2 is one of the most creative in the series tho
And I would prefer being a billionaire.
Nigger, the mere fact that we got those 7 games in a cosmic glitch. Do I want to get an 8th game? Hell yeah! But if not, then I'll be greatful for the 7.
and only 2 of those games was ok, they are massively overrated
B-team game. Theres only 1 team that makes good shit at FROM, the rest is slop and has been since DS2. You have to wait and see what the armored core/ sekiro guys are doing next.
Younger people might not remember this, but From started out as a “literary who?” company that made really niche games. Then DeS and DaS were both lucky enough to come out during the peak of the modern military shooter and movie game craze, so the games were refreshing by comparison because they were the complete antithesis to what was popular in the industry at the time.
I think what many people failed to realise though is that once you take that historical context out of the equation, the games are very flawed on their own.
So what's the lore behind this guy? Is it a story about a guy that sleepwalked to his death or something and now he's back for revenge
dodgeroll invincibility
wow so much gamer, so realism, wow
no, I'm not a fromtranny so I don't know what this mindless dicksucking is supposed to mean
>Every major boss is also somehow related to the major bosses of DS1 for absolutely no reason
The Lord Souls being vacant echoes of their past selves and continuously grafting onto new hosts, like parasites, choosing those that ended up mirrorng the actions and flaws of the original during the Age of Fire is super duper mega kino though
Only tasteless faggots are unable to appreciate the narrative of DS2
jesus christ they need a new set of stock bodies.
Sekiro is meticolously designed and feels like a late 6th gen/early 7th action/adventue game but with the polish and technology of a 8th gen Fromsoft Souls game
It's a masterpiece
It means that they're the only devs that released decent games in the sea of Ubishit that was the 2010s gaming landscape.
If not for Fromsoft and Rockstar, I think I would have quit gaming by now
stuff like Siegmeiyer is just a "reference"
Siegward outward appearance is a reference to Siegmeyer, but he's a completly different character.
It means that they're the only devs that released decent games
lmao
fromdrones are unsalvageable
demons felt like a beta test, you can see a bunch of DS1 ideas still kinda rough.
Those highs came from you being unfamiliar with the game's tropes. You won't get them again in a soulslike.
From games are le bad
Ok, then what games do you play? And please spare the pretentious pixel art indie game recommendations, I mean actual games.
soulds like a massive cope to me
meticulously designed
You can run past almost every enemy in the game with no consequences, the stealth mechanics feel like an afterthought, and most of the prosthetic tools are useless compared to just parrying.
If anything, it’s a game that lacks refinement.
I still cannot believe theybmade one of the legacy dungeons a 10 minute dungeon followed by a big field boss fight. They talked up the legacy dungeons so much pre release only for so kany of them to be linear trash
3 is linear in its progression, but most levels are open with multiple progression paths.
Also, if you have the balls, you can access 3 endgame areas with 1 boss soul obtained.
Yeah, but why the ride has to end here? Just because Miyazaki went insane and want to feed us Fortnite slop? You can just say no.
