It's crazy that this is a real game that exists. A Miyazaki directed Souls game exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Saying that out loud doesn't sound crazy to you?
The Duskbloods
no? they've made platform exclusives before.
not really. probably got good amount of money for it
They've never made a Nintendo exclusive though. And this is a Souls game at that. The audience for these games is on PC/PS. If you knew this game was a thing and told people about it they would have laughed in your face.
Miyazaki directed
So its a one button spam combat game with no story, vague fragmented lore & characters who mumble & giggle while adding nothing to the setting of the game.
I really really really really wish this wasnt a multiplayer only game
I lost interest when it came to light that it's Miyazaki wanting to make a Tarkov like game. My hype was through the roof when I saw Fromsoft was making an exclusive Switch 2 game and then the subsequent interview killed all of it, I'm not interested in Nighreign either.
would be way more hyped for this if it wasn't coop/pvp slop
They've never made a Nintendo exclusive though
Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2
Is this not multiplayer shit...?
I’m happy to hear you say that. Regardless of whether it’s PvP or PvE, the idea is to provide players with an experience that allows them to learn and hone their skills as they play. We’ve therefore designed the PvE boss encounters to present a tough challenge and a sense of accomplishment upon defeating them.
In addition to creating a PvPvE title, we’ve tried our hand at introducing a lot of new and interesting ideas with The Duskbloods.
From superhuman player actions, a free-form combat approach, and gameplay that’s dynamic and dramatic to the romanticised aesthetic of the Bloodsworn, deep character customisation and fragmentary storytelling, I think there’s a lot to appreciate and enjoy in this title and I sincerely hope players look forward to it.
I trust 'Zaki
LOL
One thing I love doing in any game I direct is leaving fragments of lore and worldbuilding details, allowing the player the fun of using their imagination to make connections. The Duskbloods is no exception to this.
However, we’ve gone about it a little differently from previous titles. The fragments this time are found in the previously mentioned character customisation items: their “blood history and fate”. Customising a character will reveal a piece of information regarding the world and its unfolding story.
They've never made a Nintendo exclusive though
They've made several it's just that the majority haven't been translated. You didn't think that their Gameography began and ended with souls did you?
The audience for these games is on PC/PS
Judging by the sales the audience is exclusively on pc.
I trust 'Zaki
There's 2 things I don't trust Miyazaki about. The first is anything PvP related, even AC6 had absolutely retarded balance and Souls games are notorious for the broken builds that ruin everything. The second is not adding poison swamps,he could make a volleyball game and it'd still take place next to a Poison Swamp.
It'll come to PC within a year
That depends on if they have the rights to it.
Miyazaki
AC6
NTA but what's the last third party game that remained exclusive on a console? That's not really a thing these days.
Graphics look worse than Bloodborne, a 10 year old game. Switch 2 genuinely is inferior to the PS4 isn't it
That's not really a thing these days
It's not a thing for Sony and MS since they don't tend to fund games but just opt for timed exclusivity.
We have no idea if this is a Nintendo funded game or not like Astral Chain or if they paid to retain the rights to it so that they could have their own souls series to fill that niche.
We'll have to wait and see.
it's gonna suck dick and people will finally realize what slop fromshit has been putting out on the shelves since 2015
Every other third party game other than Astral Chain HAS been ported off the Switch, that's the thing. SMTV, NMH3, Triangle Strategy. those DQ games, MH Rise. Nintendo can't even manage to get third party exclusivity these days and it seems silly to think that Fromsoft wouldn't have learned their lesson about owning their IPs. The third party exclusive is effectively dead, games cost too much money to make to be tethered to a single platform, especially when they can release on PC for the Chinese market.
depends what you count as third party. metroid dread for example was made by third party studio i guess but it's first party game?
i don't know if these things have any real definition. second party games especially.
Nintendo can't even manage to get third party exclusivity these days
A better way to phrase that would have been "Even Nintendo can't manage to get third party exclusivity these days", the reality really is that anything not first party is going to get ported off. Astral Chain was from 2019, that's how far back people have to look.

From owns the rights
©2025 FromSoftware, Inc. All rights reserved.
yeah it does sound crazy and I expect it to bomb
It says it on the site too. After Elden Ring, From is too big for a DeS/BB style exclusive. The best you're going to get are timed exclusives from now on.

Nightreign new trailer too. I really wonder how much more "online" Duskbloods will be. Just fix the fucking netcode finally
it's there to sell consoles and subscriptions to the online, it can fuck right off, miyazaki or not. I'm not getting another nintendo system, you can fuck off marketer-kun.
Fromsoft games used to be art. Now they are just products.
The audience for these games is on PC/PS.
the dark souls remaster port on switch sold very well, about half of the sales on ps4 if I remember correctly
console warriors are still stuck on the early 2000s idea that nintendo consoles only sell to fanboys and children but the switch ecosystem is completely different, why do you think big studios like cdprojekt port their massive rpgs to it?
The only reason nintendo even still have Astral Chain is because they traded W101 for the other half of the rights. If that hadn’t happened it would’ve been ported as well I guarantee
But Nintendo always partially owned it, I don't think it would've been ported
So its a one button spam
funnily enough it seems to be mechanically richer than their other games which is pretty funny, first collab with nintendo and the core gameplay immediately becomes more interesting
If I were a Japanese publisher, I'd do any release that was only in Japan initially on the Switch 2 to take exclusivity money and then port it everywhere else for the global release. Ys Proud Nordics seems to be doing this, it's releasing only in Japan first and only on the Switch 2 but the trailer even had Playstation button prompts so the global release will be on PS4/PC too.
That seems the best way to go about it since Japan mostly cares about the Switch but the global audience skews more heavily to PC, especially for weeb games because that's where the Koreans and Chinese play.
We have no idea if this is a Nintendo funded game or not
didn't miyazaki said something like "nintendo helped make this game a reality" or something? ambiguous but it could be interpreted as nintendo shelling out money to fund the game, if that's the case I don't see how it's not an exclusive
souls tripe
No thankee
no, a lot of nintendo exclusive franchises have shared rights, like kirby or fire emblem
I wonder what the story behind this game is. We know From were developing it for the original Switch initially. There's no way they didn't approach Sony about this at some point prior to that. Did they reject From to chase Concord, Fairgames and Marathon? Embarrassing if true.
Astral Chain was from 2019, that's how far back people have to look.
Two years isn't that long given the last game was Bayo Origins.
The was also ninjala in 2020.
Buddy mission bond in 2021.
I don't want to say monkey ball banana rumble because it was only last year but I feel like they would have announced a port by now.
Sports Story in 2022
The fitness boxing series, with the most recent game releasing last year. Granted that might be a unique hardware deal either way that's like five or six games?
Anyway, the point is that with Nintendo third parties make a decent amount of permanent exclusives for one reason or another.
I mean we have an entire developer interview about it, can just read that
We know From were developing it for the original Switch initially.
Source?
Current Ps audience has less in common with soulshit than even nintendo audience
You will have to pay for skins to see the lore
Fuck this game.
There's no way they didn't approach Sony about this at some point prior to that
why? sony have alienated the entire japanese market and fromsoft haven't collaborated with them in a decade, did you think the same thing when sekiro was revealed to be published by activision?
nintendo.com
A while back, we had the opportunity to meet with Nintendo to discuss ideas, and during this discussion, we presented a rough outline for The Duskbloods.
It was still very bare-bones at the time—more a loose string of ideas than a proper presentation. The concept itself was different from anything we had done before, and Nintendo seemed very interested in helping make it a reality. So that’s when the project kicked off.
At first it was being worked on by a small team as a title for Nintendo Switch. However just as the game started to take shape, we were approached by Nintendo with talk of Switch 2, which led us to revamp our development path with this new hardware in mind.
Just find it hard to believe they hadn't discussed the idea of Duskbloods with Bandai Namco or Sony before Nintendo. Miyazaki isn't going to bring them up during a Creator's Voice published on Nintendo's site.
astral chain was never a third party games, this is from an investor presentation from 2019
third party developed game doesn't mean third party game, or else metroid dread would be third party too
Recover the Zanziblood
No, he wants the Japanese to pay more attention to his games.
Why are tendies trying so hard to push this narrative? I swear they don't know anything about From past works.
Astral Chain also wasn't the only game mentioned.
You have added absolutely nothing to this conversation.
Buddy mission bond
Ninjala
Those err closer to shovelware. Bayo Origins is a good example of a game that people might actually care about but that could still get ported off along with Monkey Ball at some point, it's surprising that they haven't been ported for Game Pass yet since Sega is weirdly cozy with Microsoft these days.
Anything actually big never sticks to a single platform these days unless it's first party though but even then, Microsoft and Sony do port their first party games off so basically anything that isn't first party Nintendo will get ported.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Sony became the largest shareholder of Kadokawa and by extension FromSoftware last year. They also have a separate 14% stake in From themselves. They're still close. Any idea Miyazaki was shopping around absolutely would have come across their desks. It doesn't surprise me Jim Ryan and Herman Hulst would pass on the idea.
You lost.
well buddy mission bond is also a nintendo game developed by kt like age of calamity
pretty sure fitness boxing is also first party
I like it cause it makes PCTroons seethe
Buddy mission bond
shovelware
you're only saying this because you can't read Japanese
Bungie, the ones that were in charge of all the live service shit for Sony, probably told Jim Ryan and Herman Hulst to pass on it because they had their own Tarkov inspired game in the works and didn't want the competition.
Sony became the largest shareholder of Kadokawa and by extension FromSoftware last year.
this shit again? no one besides the most braindead snoy thought this would have any impact on games, this isn't how it works and it's been explained many times why already, use google
They've never made a Nintendo exclusive though
Those err closer to shovelware
NTA but shut the actual fuck up. A third party game is a third party game you dipshit, whether you think it's shovelware or not it's irrelevant and it's just telling everyone here that you aren't here to have an actual conversation, you're just here to shitpost.
pretty sure fitness boxing is also first party
100% third party.
During the development of the Nintendo Switch, seeking new avenues and genres to attract people to the platform, Nintendo approached Ruby Party to develop an otome game for the platform. Ruby Party, who at the time had no experience with home console development, pitched a romance game, which Nintendo greenlit around 2016. However, during the development of the title, the project's scale grew from a romance title, to one focusing on multiple, different kinds of bonds.
私は日本語がちょっと分かります。私は現在、開始1.5kデッキの練習をしています。
the name sounds like a fake game parody
copying and pasting an irrelevant paragraph from Wikipedia
What did you think you would achieve here? Also this literally mirrors Duskbloods and there would be more reason to port it with Ruby since they don't traditionally make console games.
you are a giant mongoloid
The situation differs because BMB didn't get a global release and the budget differential is going to be massive. Reaching a larger audience and recovering larger development costs are the 2 main reasons why everything is going multiplat now.
This thread is full of begging for Switch 2 games to be ported to PC, but the better topic is which PC exclusives should be ported to Switch 2 (though there aren't many that are notable).
Same, goes double for nightreign. If you went back 10 years and told me there were not one but two upcoming souls games and I wasn't hyped for either one I wouldn't believe you. I'm so fatigued of these games already and making them multiplayer only is the nail in the coffin for me. All they had to do was make bloodorne 2 and it would have been a slam dunk.
I don’t see much if any indies going through the extra effort to make a switch 2 port when pc is a more than sufficient marketplace for sales
that pic
wow...they are really creatively bankrupt
Both Nightreign and Duskbloods feel like parody games. They are overly prioritizing cool and fun things which unironically is a horrible direction.
It evidently isn't enough if its exclusive games keep getting ported. The question is which one is next.
is it coming this year or 26?
2026
You're probably going to see PC strategy games ported to switch 2. I wouldn't be surprised of fucking tempest rising gets one due to the mouse joycons.
oh good, then i dont need to buy a shitch2 this year
The crazy part is that it isn't first and foremost a single player game with an optional multiplayer mode.
The fact that you can't play this without an internet connection and an active player base is stupid.
I thought the dev didn’t even really want to make a switch port. Plus the game isn’t even compatible with the switch 2 and if he wasn’t interested in the initial port i’m sure as hell he isn’t gonna work on an update to make it work for switch 2, especially if it isn’t an easy job
NTA but what's the relevance there? Cheaper games are ported all the time.
cant believe i witnessed the downfall of fromsoft in my lifetime
I thought
You thought wrong, apparently.
The higher the budget, the more copies devs need to sell to break even with development costs and they will release on as many platforms as possible to try to do that. Cheap games can still get ported but the bigger the budget the higher the chance it's getting a port(outside of first party Nintendo games but those don't have the same budgets as $300 million AAA games anyway).
Absolutely, people are taking this for granted now, but if you told me a few months ago that this was going to happen I'd have called you a fool.
I do wonder if the deal was made before Elden Ring, I have a hard time imagining From would want to make annecclusive after how popular their games have become on Steam.
It’s not gonna stay exclusive
