Isn't it funny how the supposedly dead genre of turn based single-player games is the one where the hype lasts the longest now?

Older gamers always loved 4 dudes in a row and turn based. It's just zoomers that prefer FF remake to this gameplay.

It's successful because of the soulslop parryslop gameplay.

I'm 46 and have played tons of turn-based games, I enjoyed them despite the shit combat. Turn-based is antiquated and belongs on the garbage pile of gaming history. Now I put turn-troons in their place all day - every day. :)

Square needs their games to sell 5 million+ to be successful.
Outside of BG3, which isn't even the same genre, no modern 4 niggers in a line game has come close to 5mil+ copies sold.

Turn based game

Look inside

It's actually a cinematic QTE game

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

goddamn nigga like you old af nigga time to retire nigga ha ha ha ha

Preferring either turn-based or real-time is a midwit's dilemma. The best games are centered around dynamic interactions. Without tradeoffs, those don't exist.
E33 has some of that, but your choices are centered around mitigating your bad reflexes, if applicable.
You can't ring the victory bells for E33, saying turn-based is back when what people liked from classic RPGs, the decision-making, is nowhere to be seen in it.

I don't know a single zoomer who plays FF. Its probably the most millennial franchise that still gets games.

3 niggas dodging and parrying in a row

you need to stop thinking about zoomers

And non weeb aesthetic

Not even top 10.

Turn based games never died you were just posers who just wanted a turn based final fantasy

he posted it again

do the same without half the boss missing you disingenuous piece of shit

While I love both BG3 and COE33 (both games very solid 9s with flaws here and there, some bigger, some smaller, overall, can't give either game a perfect ten no matter what) I am pretty amazed at the outsider/normie love these games get, ESPECIALLY COE33, how does this happen?
I mean the world, writing, characters, dialogues are all great, music is very normie-friendly too even if it gets samey and boring by middle of act 2, but still, people fucking ADORE this thing saying it's the best game since BG3 or Nier Automata or whatever the fuck else when I literally would still rather pick Metaphor Refantazio over this.

Storyfags need to leave. If you weren't playing untranslated imported JRPGs, you're not a real one

When will the ESG money dry up for this games shill campaign?

I literally would still rather pick Metaphor Refantazio over this.

opinion discarded

well clearly whatever they're doing right now isn't working

damn what if we shrank the number of copies we need to sell rather than try to sell three 70 dollar games to every person on earth?

highest one that isn't f2p or live service is a turn based rpg

Zoomers

playing final fantasy

Turn based game

Look inside

MMO-tier skill cooldown bars

just exclude the genres that are doing really well

they played FF13 and will tell you it's the best final fantasy ever before admitting if's the only one along with 15 that they played.

gee boss idk what gets played more full price one run and done singleplayer game or f2p timewasting skinnerbox for 11 year olds on summer break. if only there were stats other than playtime.

It turns out the genre was dead because the only turn based games were japshit.
Thank you BG3 and E33 for saving the genre

He still hasn't beaten Counter Strike 2

LMAO

Remember that the next time you want to jerk off to numbers.

It's fun and rewards you for exploration and building different playstyles. It's that simple.

the genre isn't the problem so much as the stories have just gotten increasingly shitter since the PS1 era. Stale Manur is no exception. most JRPGs go on way longer than they should for the good content. I wouldn't complain if most sold for like $10 and I got 5-10 hours of enjoyment out of an optimized story arc.

it's important to not listen to final faggotroons
they know nothing

What I find the funniest is how zoomers are basically playing Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga for the first time 22 years after it came out and thinking timed hits are a revolutionary idea.

Just because the chinks are botting the game doesn't mean it's successful.

I would dial back your simplistic take. Metaphor Refantazio never got anywhere near this topic engagement so it's not purely a turnbased thing.

Yeah is because the anime aesthetic is trannycore.

maybe if nigtendo actually made mario & luigi games instead of awful turds with more tutorials than gameplay alphadream wouldn't be dead

I unfortunately can't play this game for a couple months because my computer broke but does this game actually live up to the insane hype it's been getting? I'm sure it's at least pretty good but tons of people say this is the best story in all of gaming and has the best turn based combat system as well and there's no way it actually lives up to that stuff right?

It turns out good games have good word of mouth.

I know that Nier Automata is not turn based but E33 is the new NA. The music, the atmosphere, the flow of the game, every thing reminds me of NA. So I guess that depends on how much you liked NA.

Why are you larping me? KEK

Please, do continue. :)

This.

Metaphor Refantazio

Looks like a simple reskin for Persona/SMT

I mean I like NieR Automata but I don't think it's an all timer personally so we'll see

I know that Nier Automata is not turn based but E33 is the new NA.

I am inhaling nuclear levels of copium that it will get the Automata treatment, GOTY edition with fleshing out a new ending.
P. Alicia broke my heart...

this game is huge millennial bait lol, gen z isn't wasting their time on these boring movies

wouldn't it be crazy if france became a 90s-00s era japan level vidya powerhouse in the next few years? The next generation growing up watching subbed french cartoons and reading french comics.

Yoshi-P Status?

Reputational suicide through his retarded comments about FF can't be turnbased anymore.

A Je'RPG

sneeding

I haven't meet a single FF player below 25.
I go to gaming cons all the time.

Don't say the 'jrpg' word, Yoship gets offended when he hears it.
Sounds retarded right? Yet it's something he really said in the press events lead up to FF16's release.

yoshiP Jrpg.png - 632x999, 323.46K

That was yoship trying to reverse racism the game journos that were calling his game racist because it had no niggers.
Sadly for him, it just made him sound retarded. I don't really blame him though, he clearly doesn't know how to deal with slimy gaymen journos.

Also, he is right that journos are prejudiced against jrpgs.

Did you go to FFXIV's last fanfests? I went to the London one back in 2023, most people looked around 30-40. Plenty of good looking, attractive women, a lot of Asians but as you say I didn't see any under 25. It's not really a bother to me that, I like a girl around 25-35. Fanfests though, should really be called fuckfests with the amount of people who do hook ups after the event, back at the hotels.

he hype lasts the longest now

only sold 2 million

>he hype lasts the longest now

It’s on track to become the best selling JRPG of all time

FF17 is going to BTFO it.

Even the best FF games are worse than E33 in literally every regard except possibly balance. You are completely blinded by nostalgia.

79,000 players

dead game

I mean it is kinda weirdly low considering the acclaim. It's getting far more praise than Elden Ring and BG3 ever did yet for some reason the player numbers are really small in comparison. Maybe just because it's day one gamepass?

im 35 and I love the ff7 remake and I liked EX33 as well.

It's beautiful.

JRPGs have always been a niche genre, despite the hubbub around Metaphor it's actual concurrent numbers are standard.
Where E33 looks impressive is how slow its dropoff was - it actually had a higher concurrent count on its second weekend after release because of the word of mouth.

Also various Streamers only just finished playing it this/last week so its still in the spotlight.

Why is this game's fanbase so terrible?

steam.png - 1003x721, 151.52K

popular isn't equal popularity
Outer Wild and disco elysium didn't get super high player numbers as well.
These well received games tend to have really strong legs however, Nier Automata being a prime example.

acclaim isn't equal popularity *

Based

Yeah but Outer Wilds and Disco Elysium are both much lower quality games and are both indie so it makes sense for them to not be doing as well.

Because the game reeks of artsy fartsy millennial hipster vibes, and I say that as someone who really liked it.

The correct way to deal with journos is to show how JRPGs can surpass WRPGs. But all he did was try to turn JRPGs into watered down mediocre roll/actionslop WRPGs and get laughed at.

how the supposedly dead genre of turn based single-player games

the "supposed" dead genre statements are only statements made by turn based fags that have a victim complex

why do you complain about yoship not liking the term JRPG, and then say exp33 is just "a good jrpg without the usual anime shit"?
which side are you on?

How can Rust be so high...

Bizarrely finishing this game has made me want to play FF16 due to Verso's voice actor. I haven't played 15 or 16. Only 4,6,7,8,9,10,12,13 and the 7 remakes.

Tetsuya Nomura want the genre to die, so his kingdom hearts slop reigns supreme.

I bet KH would sell more if it was turn based.

journos are prejudiced against

japan

Turn-based is antiquated and belongs on the garbage pile of gaming history.

Yet turn based is more popular than ever while the real time slop has flailed

BG3 and FF16 are written by retards though

Has anyone from square enix responded to this game's success? I assume not, since the dudes with the hot takes on turn-based being dead are old fragile ego japanese old men, which pretty much means they're all women stuck in eternal menstruation. So they'll probably ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist and that "no one wants to play turn-based rpgs" while their projects keep failing and ff7 remake becomes more of nomura's kingdom hearts nonsense.
