Is Nintendo retarded, why the fuck are they using a switch emulator, why do they not run natively on the switch 2. I though it was just the switch with better hardware
Is Nintendo retarded, why the fuck are they using a switch emulator, why do they not run natively on the switch 2...
I though it was just the switch with better hardware
Because the hardware is different, dumbshit.
Wii U was different from Wii/GC, but those all run perfectly
They're hardly going to put out a switch with better hardware with how easy it was to emulate
Is Nintendo retarded, why the fuck are they using a switch emulator
You are the retard here, I'm not even going to explain why because you don't deserve for being too stupid to understand
why do they not run natively on the switch 2.
Because it's not a switch, retard, not the same hardware
I though it was just the switch with better hardware
This is why you are a retard
games are more complicated nowadays sir
Because those literally had the the preceding console's hardware in it. How the fuck are you so close to the answer with all the information you need but still need someone to spell it out for you?
Because Wii U had Wii and GC guts in it.
Wii U had a copy of the entire Wii architecture inside it.
So this is why they bought Ryujinx
the hardware doesn't change shit in compatibility, it work like a PC, the major difference is the OS.
the switch 2 OS is entirely different from the Switch OS mostly due to the piracy protection mesures, that's why Switch games require either a complete code change to make them compatible or make them work through an emulator.
If it was just an hardware change you would be able to run SOME games like the PS2 could run some PS1 games (some graphical glitch can still occur tho)
OP is a retard faggot for trying to spin this to be a negative and clearly doesn't know the difference between emulation and a translation layer.
But in the topic of Picrel, that is a pretty impressive update, I'm confident that most of the games with issues are getting fixed within the first month of release, and the ones that won't are most likely getting a Switch 2 version like Hogwarts Legacy anyway.
The Wii U handled backwards compatibility by having a Wii SoC in addition to the new hardware, retard.
Different GPU architecture
nintendo.com
Looks like they tested around 11.000 titles out of over 15.000.
I feel bad the poor guys who have to sit through thousands of shovelwares.
Probably one of the reasons why they delayed the release date so much. They probably tried to talk with third parties to fix as many games as possible. I can't imagine the pain in the ass of testing so many games...
getting paid to play Hentai Girl Puzzle 4
seems pretty decent to me tbqh
because piracy, if they just Update de hardware the same piracy tricks works.
clock in to work
list of games to test is all flash tier games
Jensen is to blame.
Jensen is always to blame.
Blame Jensen.
I though it was just the switch with better hardware
It has better hardware, but the CPU is still weak.
Despite what the Indian marketing team Nintendo hired to shill Cyberpunk 2077 "looking better on Switch 2 than PC", people are going to have a very bad time in it with a handheld that has a worse CPU than the Steam Deck.
Nintendo is also notorious for having very bad emulation for older consoles. Hell, they should just use the Switch emulators from the sites they DMCA'd instead. Worked good on The Deck.
no backwards compatibility anymore
everything is emulated
Wow I wonder why Nintendo has this issue but not Xbox nor Playstation.
It’s probably this. Nintendo being greedy losers and making an inferior product as a result
I don't see how this post is related at all to what the OP said.
But you're answering to the question you liked to answer instead of what was actually posted like a good small hatted, kirby air bounce dancing man you are right?
Xbox has this problem and they solved it with an impressive hard work on emulating the old systems since the Xbox 360.
Playstation don't because they don't give a fuck and have shit backward compatibility since the PS4.
astonish. none of what you wrote is true. you must be some magical kind of retard
Achually, CPU you're correct, but GPU is a completely different animal.
shaders are sent compiled with every game, but they're compiled for the switch 1 GPU.
You have to do the whole shader recompiling crap that modern emulators do due that.
Wow I wonder why Nintendo has this issue but not Xbox nor Playstation.
Retard
playstation.com
there's a reason you have to switch to an entirely separate wii mode for that stuff lad
god i was so happy to see the Wii U was capable of doing almost every bit of Wii homebrew
Bro what are you talking about you act like the switch came out in 2006 it’s a 2017 console. I don’t expect the 360 to natively on a Series X. But I do expect switch 1 games to run natively on the switch 2 just like I expect PS4 games to run natively on the PS5 and Xbox One games to run natively on the Series X
You can't just stick Switch's hardware into Switch 2. There's no space. Xbox or PS could do it, but they don't care
The CPU is weaker than The Steam Deck.
That's going to cause issues with 3rd party games.
vast majority of games work including Nintendo's first party library
accessories are backwards compatible so you can still play stuff like Ring Fit that needs Joy-Con 1
it doesn't count because there's not literally a Switch 1 glued to the Switch 2 and it has to be emulated
Where is this bizarre ass pedantry coming from? The Xbone/XSX had hordes of updates to make sure Xbox/360 stuff worked right because there wasn't actually older Xboxes inside the later consoles.
BC works exactly the same on Xbox and Playstation
Switch 2 uses 4 generations newer GPU
It will be essentially the same as running it natively, compatibility layers are op and so is the hardware
keep tell that to you. It not will be true
anymore
the only time it happened is because the wii was just an overclocked recycled gamecube, and the wiiu has a wiiu mini inside it.
Wow I wonder why Nintendo has this issue but not Xbox nor Playstation.
Because Xbox and Playstation use AMD which maintain compatibility between GPU architectures, while Nvidia doesn't so they need to create an translation layer to get the shaders made for the Switch 1 GPU to run on the Switch 2 GPU.
Problem is the Layer isn't 100% accurate so some games need patching.
This is their list lol, and it’s shit that was delisted or that needed a peripheral that doesn’t work on the PS5
THE 3DS CAN RUN GBA GAMES NATIVELY, WHAT THE FUCK.
CPU uses the same architecture. All the games will be compatible.
Who's the retard here?
Microsoft actually put some effort into backwards compability. They had an entire department working on just BC.
Nintendo is notorious for making bad emulators.
The only reason why GC games worked so well on The Wii was that it was based on the same arcitecture as The GC.
Forgot image
It can't. It's using emulation
retard
Is it not still using the same CPU architecture and an updated version of whatever graphics processor they used in the Switch 1? There should be no reason the games can't run natively.
BC works the same for Xbox and PS
Stop being dishonest. No ones asking for the switch 2 to run Wii games natively, they’re asking for switch 1
nice rebuttal. keep being retard
Your problem is that you don't know the absolute insane mess that are GPUs.
GPUs are miserable little piles of CPUs, running a C like program for every pixel drawn on screen and every triangle edge position. It's like this since the original Xbox, and every GPU family has a completely different set of opcodes and all this shit.
This is why you have shader stutters, this is why emulators of anything newer than the nintendo DS have all those shader caches and shaders compiling and async shader bullshit.
And well, all your expectations are wrong due that.
Switch 1 shaders don't run natively on the switch 2 GPU, PS4 shaders don't run natively at the PS5 GPU and Xbox one shaders don't run natively on the Xbox series GPU.
That's how 99 percent of bc works it's all emulation
anon, you can emulate old games better than the original console ever could play them natively with higher framerate and resolution, hell, you can do this with switch 1 games right fucking now
Why are anti-nintendofags so retarded?
Yes and no.
The CPU is still twice as fast as the PS4/Xbox one CPUs.
The scale is
PS5 >>>> Steam deck > Switch 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PS4
From reading the thread, it seems that the GPU is a completely different architecture. Couldn't they just have you recompile the shaders? What's the need for emulation?
Full list of current broken games
Yeah so why is Nintendo getting away with having to test 10,000+ game working and the ones that don’t work being a more than a handful of games. This was not an issue with PS5 or Xbox Series X
deleted
get fucked retard
Couldn't they just have you recompile the shaders?
That's literally what is being called "emulation" in this thread
"getting away with"
you are such a retard
this is what ps and xbox have been doing for years
nintendo is just transparent about it because this is the first time doing backwards compatibility this way because retards like you screamed about muh graphical fidelity
This is an issue with PS5 and Xbox series X, but they did the job well enough they don't need to publish a list.
Of course I can, because I have a decent computer. I'm not trying to emulate the switch on a phone CPU and a 1050ti like nintendo is trying to.
but they did the job well enough they don't need to publish a list.
More like they weren't transparent enough to allow their users to know which games didn't work correctly, something that Nintendo actually bothered with.
i can't imagine spending my life worshipping a corporation that actively hates (you) lol
Then there should be at least a fan list if this is so prevalent. We’re talking games that don’t even boot here
Couldn't they just have you recompile the shaders?
You can't because shaders on console game are precompiled, They are not compiled on the fly like on PC.
What's the need for emulation?
A translation layer is needed because the Switch 1 GPU is Maxwell (900 series) and the Switch 2 is Ampere (30 RTX Series), and they are not compatible with each other.
but they did the job well enough they don't need to publish a list.
No, it's because They use AMD which keeps a certain level of compatibility between architectures while Nvidia doesn't, so They don't have this problem.
Xbox did publish a list. They've been working on backwards compatibility for the last two decades it's not like that shit was ready to go out of the box.
psu.com
Googling a bit seems like you can find lists of fucked up games
switch 2 was delayed to make the translation of switch 1 games work
not because of developing new switch 2 games and having a massive vault ready to go for launch
gay
We are talking about Xbox One to Xbox Series X. The only games that don’t work are Kinect titles and that’s because the Series X doesn’t have a Kinect port anymore. Xbox One games ran day one on Series X
"looking better on Switch 2 than PC"
Nobody said this
a handheld that has a worse CPU than the Steam Deck
Aaaaand there it is. Switch 2 is more powerful than the Deck. Why is it so hard for you to cope with this? You'll survive valvenigga
Jesus you people are stupid this shit happens all the time even within the consoles life, PS2 stands out where shit worked fine on the fat but didn't work on the slim.
Its likely that Nintendo is still using beefed of switch hardware but it has minor changes that make a list of games not work and nobody is going to give a shit
but enough about Valve
It's "emulation" this time, as in running the CPU code in the CPU itself because ARM -> ARM, but the GPU part gets translated.
I read through the list. It’s 26 games, 3 of which are PS2 games that were already being emulated, a lot of them is framerate and resolution oddities. Pretty much all them seem to be incredibly minor
Yep, but it's not perfect, and there's a small list of games not actually running that sony published, but it's like 8 games.
nta but...
Valve is more indifferent if anything. They don't like you but it's not like they hate you either. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft just hates you and would fuck you and everyone else over if it meant getting even a penny more of profit.
That is what most people would call a compatibility layer. Like dxvk.
Except this is NVN -> whatever the new API is.
whatever the new API is.
The Switch 2 API is literally just called NVN2 lol.
I can play 26 year old games on PC with no compatibility changes at all, even. Imagine paying money for this.
lmao
How did the GBC/GBA/DS/3DS achieve backwards compatibility?
Thats so far from the truth. There are a lot of PC games that will need old versions of windows to work properly.
It's mostly because older DirectX and vulkan use a standardized binary that gets converted to the native GPU language.
Now DX12 and OpenGL are fucking retarded and compiler from HLSL/GLSL in realtime instead of using a middle binary, thus why you get retarded shader stutters in those languages.
3ds had DS hardware in it
DS had GBA hardware in it
GBA had GB chip inside the motherboard
Something like that
Youtube
Lol
Being a tranny janny is the lowest form of life
I imagine they're taking no chances with web-browser based apps again
Also this is the list of the games they fixed so far.
Is Nintendo retarded
have been since Iwata died
I don't think youtube needs any browser to launch on switch.
Bunch of shovelware and ender magnolia
Well I own it on steam so I don't really care
Then why do games on switch 2 look better than steam deck?
Crime City
ender magnolia
No They already fixed it see
The Youtube-App on Switch is just pure buggy shit. Probably entirely outsourced to india and chatgpt.
The games that don’t run come to about 6 titles.
Afro Samurai 2- game was so rushed and broken it’s been delisted everywhere
We Sing- a singing game that used a specific mic that no longer works on PS5
Shadwen- a game with a loading screen bug that the devs said they just didn’t feel like fixing
Robinson: The Journey-VR game(was released unfinished)
Just deal with it-A card game that used “playlink” an app to connect your phone to PS4
Hitman GO-IP limbo after IOI bought the IP off square
thats the most shocking parts. OS and whole UI looks exactly the same
OS and whole UI looks exactly the same
Because Switch 2 uses the same exact OS as the Switch 1, Horizon
BC is a lost art
we went from "yeah shove anything you had in there, it'll work" to "p-please understand old tech is hard"
Gouyoku Ibun is still fucked
Man, I've been meaning to pick up the switch version, but I've been holding off until compatibility is fixed for switch 2
I'd say Nintendo is also on the indifferent side; they just don't like being told how to make their games if their way makes for a better experience.
I hate having to write the fucking "moore's law is dead" shit, but in this case is probably completely the case as well.
Until 2010, the rule was "4000 bucks per wafer, every 18 months give or take, we manage to shrink the mask and shove twice the components in the wafer", but now is "every 18 months more or less, we shove 50% more components and the price of the wafer doubles".
Under the old law, the old hardware would be 4-8 times cheaper to manufacture in the current process, so including it in the new chip would be trivial.
Now if it's half of the price, you're in luck.
All the Switch games will be compatible on, or soon after launch
Snoys still go full on mental holocaust
There really must be nothing wrong with Switch 2 if using a translation layer is the biggest "issue" you could find
It is a problem, but only wrong part is assuming nintendo can't fix it.
It's not a performance problem, given most broken games are games that do weird shit like emulators, while stuff like odyssey and witcher 3 just runs, so it's just a matter of doing a better GPU translation and probably virtual box shit better.
There is nothing hard about native BC. It's just impractical, expensive and offers no benefits. Especially in a device like Switch 2 where interior space is at a premium.
You don't have to look farther than Wii U. The MCM (it wasn't a SoC) was as expensive as PS4 SoC despite offering a fraction of power and you had to basically turn of Wii U and boot Wii every time you wanted to switch between them. It also meant no power boost because you were essentially running games on Wii.
They've fixed the problems with 6000 games since the last update a month ago. It's a non issue
Switch 2 flop
It's going to be an issue for Xbox next gen when it comes to Xbox One and Xbox Series games, nimrod.
I think the list of games with problems has remained the same and unless the devs give it a proper update the fucked games will remain fucked, I just want to play Senran Kagura Reflections on Switch 2.
One week tick tock eric
No it’s likely not.
I really thought the list would be smaller the PS5 list was tiny
Or maybe Sony was just lying.
why is this a bad thing? it's an evolution of the fact that computers are powerful enough now and game consoles aren't built around custom designed chips
Genuine question. Are you actually retarded or are you just pretending?
switching from Xbox One/Series ERA development environment to Win32 development environment
Yes, it is
Because they stopped making good games/consoles years ago...nigger
but enough about sony
Yep.
The implications in this thread is that it's an unfixable problem, because the switch 2 is too slow or something.
But that is just not the case.
Microsoft is used to it by now.
Given they had to make x86 run on PowerPC, then make PowerPC run on x86, x86 run on non-shit x86....
retard
Buy game on switch 1
Play on switch 2
doesn't work
Money stolen
Nintendo is the most evil and greedy company in human history
Based Nintendo.
go kill yourself Eric. Your skizo meltdown in the ex33 thread was enough
Probably not, even with all that.
He added References to that list... the absolute obsession of this guy...
Live Eric.
yes your skizofrenia is live eric
No, because GBA games aren't treated the same as Virtual Console games.
It's running on a different interface in some fashion. I don't know if it's truly running on GBA hardware internally but it's also not the same emulation paradigm as the other systems it can emulate.
I don't know if it's truly running on GBA hardware internally
It is, the GBA chip is in the 3DS only because it was necessary to run DS games.
Like it should/must be, anon.
And then they complain so much about "piracy" and "emulators"...
The worst part is that the Ryujinx shader compiler probably can do the job.
It's like this since the original Xbox
kek
zoomer spotted?
Anything before it on consoles was fixed pipeline, except the gamecube but that was some alien shit.
The 3DS runs GBA games natively, it's not emulation. We've known this for over a decade now. They specifically didn't sell GBA games because it was native which means you don't get the emulation features other VC games have and sleep mode doesn't work.
That's not true. 3DS was native, because 3DS literally had GBA tech in it.
Anon...
on consoles
you didn't mention that part the first time
Indeed.
On PC was not that far off, i think the first one to officially support shaders was the Geforce 3, which was what they used on the Xbox.
I heard 2 TI did shader shit internally but was not exposed to the programmer.
So is the big "day one update" that's been rumored to happen associated with the updated compatibility list?
Like what is even going on with Switch 2 that it's having problems with old game collections like SNK, Megaman Legacy and NIS shit e.g Rhapsody? Is that Nintendo or the Third Party devs fault?
bump
crunchyrollbros...
Nice bait.
They don't like you but it's not like they hate you either.
Pushing lootcrate shit, churning out live service games like DEIdlock and CS2, and refusing to finish their most notable singleplayer franchise seems like active hate to me.
Retard.
Faggot.
We don't sign our posts here Retarded faggot.
valve doesn't brick your steam deck for pirating games on it
We don't sign our posts here
Yet you just did.
N-No u
So all is forgiven for being a completely lackluster video game company just because of that? Fuck no.
NOOO WHY DOESN'T THE RICHEST PRIVATELY OWNED COMPANY PANDER TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Which is something you already did first:
point is, nintendo doesn't understand hardware ownership
Oh okay, so all is well with Valve as long as your standards are extremely low.
No u again
I accept your concession.
I'm surprised Nier Automata is still on the list. I would have assumed that would have been fixed earlier.
I'm amazed they still haven't finished testing and that their emulation is that bad.
By comparison the PS4 games on PS5 list was available well before launch, and the final list had like a dozen fully incompatible titles that through game-specific updates got cut down to six games now, and all of those are games that either can't or won't be updated due to either developers going bust or the source code no longer being available.
I accept that you're a retarded faggot with no argument.
It's not an emulator it's a compatibility layer. It's like Proton/Wine
while checking on the previous lists it seems that unless the devs make a proper Switch 2 update the games will remain broken.
It's literally the same. Both are Nvidia Tegra. It'd be like saying you need to emulate games made in 2016 on your 30 series GPU because it's a newer architecture.
Nintendo being a bad company doesn't make Valve a good company.
Because nintendo got buck-broken by emulation and specifically fucked over switch 1 compatibility just to spite and defer day 1 emulation of switch 2 lmao
there are no good companies
corporatism is an evil concept
That I can agree with.
Given the showing Square-enix has made with Switch 2 so far I'm not surprised. I've pretty much assumed that the only reason Square-enix is even putting stuff on there is because they'd be pants on retarded ignoring the Switch ecosystem from a money perspective.
There is no reason Marvelous is putting on a better showing than Square-enix. I don't even think Marvelous has game on the list that is unable to play on Switch 2.
why can't it be backwards compatible like PS4 and PS5
Some devs at Kojipro working on Death Stranding 2 said it the best, the jump from PS4 to PS5 isnt that big, meanwhile the jump from Switch 1 to Switch 2 is like 7-10x as much power.
Running S1 games on S2 reduces loading times and now runs on stable framerate
Is there a reason why I should be upset about this?
why the fuck are they using a switch emulator
JIT compilation is not emulation. It's literally a way to port code for one architecture/SoC onto another.
No you dumbfuck, the Wii U literally had Wii hardware modules, which itself had native capabilities for the Gamecube. It's literally the same as the 3DS *literally* having a DS hardware module, which natively supported the GBA.
The fat PS3 literally had PS2 hardware in it, which they took out for the slim models.
Don't think and regurgitate what youtubers told you.
but not Xbox nor Playstation.
Xbox literally has an army of talented software engineers writing compatibility layers that you complain about.
Playstation literally has this problem, and they put a fucking PS2 into the fat PS3 for native play.
No PlayStation doesn’t have this issue with the PS4 to PS5 this is like the 5th time this cope about PS1,2,3 was brought up. No one expects this old shit to run natively anymore. The fact that a 2013 console can run all the their games outside of a select 6 that have other issues on a 2020 console but a 2017 system has this much issue running on 2025 hardware is embarrassing for “le small indie company” Nintendo
People who buy xboxes and playstations are consoomers of the highest order who have fits if they try to play a game older than a few months, so they don't care that the BC is shit.
there's a reason you have to switch to an entirely separate wii mode for that stuff lad
Incompetence, mostly. Today I'll remind them of eShop re-release exclusive Wii U controller compatibility.
Oh trust me neither do Nintendo fans given how inferior NSO emulation is
how inferior NSO emulation is
It isn't, even the N64 emulation has been fixed compared when it released initially
Nah pretty sure it’s still subpar to what your average tranny made for free
Everyone ignore this retard. Fallout 3 doesn't even run properly on modern PCs without real behind the scenes work around. And some 1990s games require weird workarounds because their graphical settings could become black and white or inverted, like Fallout 1-2.
Did the Ryujinx guy get hired by Nintendo because of their in-house emulator? To this day, nobody knows if Nintendo's lawyers threatened him or offered him a job...
shitty emulator forced in
games will either be forced to run the same as switch 1 or will have unintended uncapped FPS resulting in games breaking
Likely some will just play like shit
amazing, simply amazing
It's not really emulation. Parts of it are but it's mostly the same technology behind Proton/Linux/Steamplay. A translation layer. And with the much better hardware games will run better there assuming the game has no cap. Or if there is a cap it will run more stable.
Its compatibility layer, not emulation you retard.
Windows do same shit.
nintendo makes you pay 70€ for emulated BotW
Nah BC has been solved for a while now. Turns out 99.99% compatibility is fine and people only care about the exceptions when there's nothing else going on to fret over
As soon as the Switch 2 launches we'll forget all about this conversation until the next console does it
What's the fucking point of switch 2 if the switch 1 games don't even run native? Even snes emulation sucks so much fucking ass on switch I have zero hope for this.
I would say you can't be that retarded but you probably are
why can't it be backwards compatible like PS4 and PS5
PS5 uses exact same thing (VM translation layer) for PS4 games, retard
Nintendo are insane if they think I'm gonna buy $80 emulated Switch ports.
Switch 1 games don't cost $80 but you already knew that, retard
PS5 and Xbox Series consoles backwards compatible with previous gen
Shitch 2 attempts to fucking emulate Shitch 1
Good luck with that, retards.
At least it’s functional
Nintendo are insane if they think I'm gonna buy $80 emulated Switch ports.
My curiosity is how many people will simply stick with Switch 1. On the Sony side, 50% of consumers were still on PS4 even 5 years after the launch of PS5...
I'll be one of those who won't be migrating to the Switch 2 any time soon, if ever. I still have a lot to play on Switch 1 and at the rate I'm playing, I'll need at least 2 or 3 years to exhaust my interest in the device.
Now there will probably be more significant discounts for Switch 1 games, so it's quite possible that playing them natively will be cheaper than buying the Switch 2 versions...
This thread is just a bunch of retards getting mad at their own misunderstanding
That's because Sony increased the price for everything and there's no exclusives. They're losing players to PC and Nintendo.
Every nintendo thread is like this
Business as usual.
