The Incom T-65 X-Wing is the fighter that killed the Death Star. An
almost perfect balance of speed, maneuverability, and defensive
shields makes this the fighter of choice for Rogue Squadron, except
when the mission profile disallows it. In addition to four blaster
cannons, the X-Wing can carry a number of proton torpedoes. It is
powered by four fusial thrust engines and requires an onboard
astromech droid for peak performance.

The Y-Wing is the workhorse of the rebel fleet. It's not quick or
flashy, but it gets the job done. The armor on this is extensive and
the shields will protect you from just about anything, which is good
because you won't be going anywhere fast. The Y-Wing is used mainly as
a bomber because it can carry a heavy payload of missiles, torpedoes,
and bombs. The other important weapon is the topside ion cannon
which, rather than destroying a target, can disable it for later
capture. Our cannons have a computer assisted auto-fire feature. So,
don't forget that when you are in the heat of battle.
I see a Star Wars ship thread, I post the Vulture Droid.
Anonymous loves the Vulture Droid.
we'll never get another star wars ship game after Squadrons went nowhere
The A-Wing is the fastest fighter we have, capable of matching a TIE
Interceptor is speed. Twin J-77 Event Horizon engines power the
craft, and twin blaster cannons provide offensive weaponry. However,
what we gain in speed, we lose in defense. The deflector shield
capability is significantly less than the X-Wing, so make sure you use
your speed to dodge lasers rather than relying on shields. The A-Wing
also carries a limited number of missiles.
rebel ships
We were just trying to make the galaxy a better place for (you).
Nemodians controlled your trade, Muuns controlled your banks, and brainwashed monks stole your children with the support of the government.
We tried to put the boot of a stormtrooper on the necks of these creatures, but you stopped us.
And now they do again.
It shouldn't have been a budget title. They should have spent another year or two polishing the mechanics, adding more ships, and adding more scenarios for multiplayer. Even if the combat was fun, it just got so repetitive. Especially multiplayer. They need more formations, more capital ships, different game types and environmental hazards. There was a good game in there, just not as a budget title with a limited amount of content.
*intercepts u*
*in red*
hell yes
Their biggest mistep was not including the B-Wing and TIE Defender. Also not allowing you to use those unlockable cockpit decorations in single player.
Char Aznable is piloting that TIE
We will never have a Rogue Squadron 4 with unlockable Episode 3 ships.
Post some Republic Kino.
Finally, a good Star Wars thread
Speaking of Rogue Squadron did you hear about that cancelled xbox spinoff that got found recently?

I swear Factor 5 had nothing but Misfortune after they left Nintendo
The A-wing is so bad its propensity for being the fastest coffin money can buy survived a canon revamp through sheer will.
The A-wing, or "How to look cool and die fast" is what happens when A Kuat Engineer snuck into the back of Sienar systems to see the assembly of the first TIE Interceptor and thinking "A cheap fast and basic starfighter with the survivability of wet paper, great! Let's make it faster, let's make it not cheap, let's make it even faster, let's make it without the numbers that TIEs are built around" and his Rebel friend, hearing all this, decides "Yeah we aint got Empire pilot numbers but I sure do like going fucking FAST"
Fast but not easy, you're basically flying two engines strapped to your dick when its just seen two twileks kissing. In a navy that is just full of "I'm the best pilot ever but fuck discipline" jocks there's only one way to compensate for the missing inches of limp-dicked decent piloting and "Well I can fly an A-wing and not die" is there for people who have a hopelessly high rate of optimism and a will already written.
The most famous victory of an A-wing pilot is driving himself into the bridge of a Star Destroyer. This is actually remarkable as it did come at the end of the war between the Empire and the Rebel alliance, since it is frankly fucking AMAZING a-wing pilots survived this long. In the new canon they are given a fresh introduction, and promptly do nothing but fucking explode.
A-wings are the thinking man's suicide note. In a desperate struggle to be the slickest spacer this side of Duros young hotshots sign up for a one-way ticket into either ploughing into the fucking ground, being the first into the frey and into fire in the wet tissue paper tiger, and just generally being the coolest guy in the dogfight because they're already exposed to the vacuum of space.
There was an anon a while ago who made some amusing descriptions for these ships
I don't know if anyone saved them but I always liked the one where he said the Y-Wing's frame has less value than the ordinance it carries
Hey don't hate on the Y Wing. The damn thing carried the Clone wars and became so associated with the good guys that it team autobalanced as soon as the Clone Wars ended.
I still wonder which ship would have been the secret unlockable
Jedi interceptor, Arc-170, V-Wing, or maybe all of them?
It's a shame Factor 5 died
I didn't like the on foot sections of RS3 but the multiplayer was fun and I felt it could have been perfected in a sequel
I'd say the Arc-170 was most likely. They already did the fast and agile starfighters with the Naboo Fighter and Jedi Starfighter. Would have been appropriate to go for a heavy assault fighter. Also I like to think had they stayed with Nintendo, the Arwing and Samus's Gunship would have been unlockable.
The Defender looks horrid.
That's a big fucking arwing
Some people take the "space meters" measurement from the guidebook to be 1:1 with regular meters
Or alternately if they were going to make a budget title, deliver the game that fans have been waiting for. A modern X-Wing vs Tie Fighter with the classic mechanics.
Doesn't need the highest production values, doesn't need AAA visuals, just make a great simulator.
Lets be honest almost all the TIE Variants are some flavor of awful.
Honestly in terms of how big fighter aircraft are the scaling seems right. You never really get the sense of just how big jets are until you stand next to one or sit in it.
There we go.
Actual lore.
Well depends on the bird.
The F-16, F5e and F-86 were smaller than i was expecting when i saw them.
Honestly Star Wars ships are downright tiny compared to modern Jet Fighters.
It would be a Buick, Pinto and a Bonneville.
These things are proto-TIE fighters, right? They always look more like A-Wings to me.
Missile lock noise
The Disney Era did a lot wrong, but the U-Wing isn't one of them.
Gives the Rebels the ability to rapidly deploy fireteams and is able to stay on station to give them support
Keeps the OG trilogy's WW2 meets Hot Rod sense of design aesthetics for the Rebels.
Looks cool as hell.
Yeah, if it's not one of the original 4 it sucks.
How did SFS even get the job? Their fighters are inferior to old models rescued from scrapyards, was the CEO Palpatine's cousin or something?
Common ancestor.
Pretty much a halfway point between an eta 2 and a tie fighter yeah. Ties are better overall for space superiority as long as they have a nearby hangar to launch from.
SW squadrons made me fall in love with the tie interceptor all over again: got all the strengths where it counts, and any weaknesses are down to pilot skill.
Yeah, the A-Wing in particular is scaled more like a sports car than a real world interceptor aircraft, and the A-Wing is bigger than the Eta-2
The Z-95 deserves more love.
loved the glitch that made lando sperg out and say
gotta buy more time!
gotta buy more time!
gotta buy more time!
gotta buy more time!
gotta buy more time!
gotta buy more time!
And the Sequel Trilogy variant is even smaller.
This is a new craft, fast, light, and unpredictable.
The V-Wing carries two blaster cannons which can be fired at the normal rate or in the rapid fire position.
Rapid fire is useful for strafing ground targets, but it overloads the cooling units and can offer cause a complete burnout.
In addition the thrust engines have been modified to supply an incredible amount of power over a short distance, these are generally use to evacuate a pilot from a dangerous area, as the V-wing carries no shields and very little armament.
That said, the V-wing is extremely nimble and stealthy, and is an even match for most adversaries.
Needs to be an X-Wing mod that replaces the Shuttle support ships with these, and adds a campaign for them in a Spooky configuration where you're shooting guns and torpedoes out of one side.
most kino ship
only shows up like 4 times in the entire franchise
The E Wing gets brought back into canon
Not the V Wing airspeeder.
I always hated the E-wing because of how ugly it looks. Like a shitty knockoff of a battlestar galactica viper.
For me, it's the N-1; if it's worth doing, then it's worth looking good while doing it.
Weirdly enough the Cornerian fighters from Star Fox Assault look almost exactly like them. Despite Star Fox Assault coming out three months before.
The resemblance is uncanny. Reminds me of how the snail tanks were in the attack of the clones videogame well before they appeared in RotS.
Like a shitty knockoff of a battlestar galactica viper.
Yeah it pretty much was. Lucasarts was taking the piss out of Galactica.
Yeah, I think the comic book artist that originally drew them had the Viper and the Cylon Raider in mind when drawing the E-Wing and the V-Wing.
Bring it back Disney.
And that one is a pretty clearly inspired by the Babylon 5 Star Fury.
RED LEADER! WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!
Bros, is it good strategy to bring important ships into battle that have no point-defense guns?
It is imperative to flex all your ships that you stole from the enemy.
Even these things?
Aren't these the equivalent of a run down city bus?
I guess they can soak up some stray shots
I think the Imperials have more of a problem with this
Rebel Fleet gets into knife fight range
Star Destroyers start dropping like flies
Imperial Captains start pussying out as soon as the Executor is destroyed.
I wish there were more battle involving fleets of battleships
The opening of Episode 3 is the only time they scratched that itch for me
Would love a game where I can walk around a capital ship and give orders / fight boarding parties / evacuate as holes blow through the ship
I really hate Moncal ships.
Really the whole Rebel capital fleet is bad.
Agreed
Mon cal ships have the aesthetics of misshapen turds
For me it's the CIS navy
Hype up this new huge New Republic Battleship.
Never use it at all.
Mon mothma wins
scraps all of them, even though they are set up in the nucanon as star destroyers killers
There is so much that just sucks about the ST era. I try not to think about it too much.
To be fair, Mothma was always kind of overly pacifistic. Even Bail and Padme realized that you couldn't reason with Palpatine almost immediately
Its a reskinned hoth ship with bigger engines and two long pokies
Thats an amarr freighter
Get out of the way. Pure fucking sex in space is here
Honestly it makes sense orienting military into a more defensive and peacekeeping role. The Issue is the New Republic not taking threats seriously. When they are properly mobilized even the demilitarized defense force can pack a punch. Just look at what they did to those pirates on Ad Attin.
Just look at what they did to those pirates on Ad Attin.
Can't say I remember no At Attin
space ship
jet engines
wings
makes noises in space
how did this ever get popular
Okay who the fuck let the Miraluka fly?
Rule of cool will always be superior to realism.
Pick one.
*Woo-doot* *Woo-doot* *Woot doot*
Uh oh. The Y-Wing's ion cannon can shoot down the missiles if you use it with rapid fire head on. A-Wings can outrun the missiles at full speed, Just never slow down or else...
I'll take that fancy jug to the left of the women.
