State of Decay 2.
The first one is one of my favorite games. As it stands, I can't recommend the second one. The first one had a linear story and the gameplay isn't all that different. Playing the second one on lethal difficulty and the flaws are glaring. The game has a habit of spawning hordes/special infected right on top of you, so you can be playing flawlessly but still get killed by RNG. Because the game is less forthcoming with ammo/items it's easy to get softlocked and not be able to progress because you don't have any weapons and can't fix your car. You have to restart if this happens. They added new collectable outfits to the game, but a lot of the time when you're searching an abandoned house it's incredibly disappointing to find another cowboy hat in 1/4 containers instead of something you needed. It's more of a roguelike now, where you have to get a decent run to progress meaning that it's RNG based. It's not a bad game or anything but I'm not fond of roguelikes because skill is less important than luck.

I was playing Asterigos and it feels like a worse Souls in just about every way. I'll give it a bit longer to see if it ramps up any, but it's kinda disappointing.
The combat design is bad, the encounter design is bad, the level design is nice I like that bit. Dialog is forced upon me constantly and everyone talks forever, the MC did a bunch of millenial writing-style talking to herself at the beginning. I like exploring but I'm never going to find anything but upgrade mats and lore documents.
I think it would have felt a lot better if it didn't try to be a soulslike. It could've been something like DMC or God of War or any PS2 action game and that would have felt more appropriate, whereas the broader design strokes of the Souls series do not mesh with what they have

I pretty much only play Overwatch and fighting games, games with insanely high skill ceilings that the average person will never come close to mastering. Like I could play a Resident Evil or Devil May Cry game. But I feel like that’s time better spent labbing in Tekken 8 so I can reach the next rank online.
