How the FUCK did the Frenchies do it?

white people made a game because they wanted to make a good game

instead of jews hiring sheboons and jeets and purple haircuts to make a statement because orange man bad

WOW HOW COULD THEY POSSIBLY HAVE DONE SO WELL?!?!?!

i really wanted to play it myself before reading anything about it. i had to play more after finishing, go back and do the sidequests and get the other ending. game has flaws, but i appreciate the SHIT out of that game. has some similar spirit as nier series. pure kino

whats so good about it? I keep hearing its good but no actual concete stuff
I'm currently playing tainted grail and was looking to play this nex

If you like the good Final Fantasy games you'll like it. It's a similarly story-driven JRPG style game with good depth of gameplay substance and an interesting world setting and characters that keep you intrigued.

post some kino locations

Great gameplay, impeccable pacing, and an unforgettable narrative with a great and small cast of characters.

I'd have to post literally every area in the game. The level design and art style is just incredible

you might be not hearing concrete stuff because the game is very simple mechanically. but the story takes some twists and turns from how it starts out, so people are being vague. it's a good story, and i appreciated how the pace of the story is quick enough, it doesn't get bogged down in overlong cutscenes or melodrama like jrpgs usually do. i focused on doing counters because the damage i was putting out (and healing myself via counter) was so fucking high that i was doing more damage on the enemy turns than on MY turns, i felt like a god damned boss. very satisfying. i played kb/m at first but later switched to controller for combat. i like moving around with a mouse 120fps feels fucking good in this game. but controller was better for dodge/parry/counter and stuff. tired of slamming the fuck out of my e w and q keys.

anyway the game has problems like i said. when act 3 starts you are able to beeline to the endgame and that's what i did. keep backup saves so you can go back and get the other ending. act 3 you are able to do SO much, or you can just beeline to endgame, but that's doing a disservice, take it from me that's what i did initially. go to camp and get quests from allies
and do all that before final zone

it's not very simple mechanically, there's a ton of different things you can do with the pictos and your stats, much more complex than the golden era final fantasy games.

he didn't play all the optional special content towards the end

okay lol great opinion though thanks for the post lmao

wife

i wasn't clear enough, i did do the side content and get the other ending. that's why i mentioned backup saves, i wasn't very clear, my bad.

also, simple mechanically didn't imply there's no depth. as you mentioned there's depth there. it's just simple to execute is all

wife damns her own brother to eternal torment

they made a good game with a handful of ladies, why couldn't they make a single one that's wifu material?

doesn't say a word

it's still more hate filled than games that have the character shouting

the number of times i started an encounter and had it go south while learning a new enemy or boss's attack timings, only to have stuck it through in order to practice those said timings, only to have a miraculous comeback and finish either SUPER STRONG or by the skin of my teeth was very high and felt fucking awesome

impeccable pacing

Honestly, the unsung hero of this game, if it was longer people would complain about it dragging out, if it were shorter people would complain about it being too short. You are always moving along and the side stuff doesn't really take a long time unless you really want to face a tough boss while being underleveled

Gameplay is deeply flawed. The AP system encourages just narrowing the player to ignore all skills that aren't their highest costing and hardest hitting. The QTE aspects to the attacks are meaningless and 1 dimensional, amounting to nothing more than busy work that, sadly, the player can't just turn on the automation process because there is a damage bonus for "perfect" timing that the automation process is designed to not hit; that the turning on the automation still pops up the "Press A!" prompts is also annoying.

The dodging and parry mechanic is fine, if you have a lot of experience. Unfortunately because of the inclusion of those mechanics the game becomes disgustingly easy on any difficulty, so they have to be tuned to have very small windows.

Both gameplay aspects make the game a hybrid of turn based and action combat, and it is not better for it. It is, funnily enough, shallower and easier than if it had just settled to be one or the other.

impeccable pacing

The main story takes 30 hours for a dozen "dungeons" where most have less than a dozen fights each. The pacing is actually atrocious, with most of that time being slowly traversing the dungeons and open worlds, and empty cutscenes that just pad out time.

an unforgettable narrative

Outside of specific dramatic events and the endings, most people have forgotten the overall narrative, because it is forgettable.

a great and small cast of characters

So great that literally half the cast could be removed entirely and nothing would change. 1 character is so forgettable she does not even have a companion quest in the final Act, and her shoehorning into the 1 thing she was "necessary" or valuable (Visage) to the party could have been handed to any other party member. The same actually largely holds true for another party member, who ceases to have a single point to exist after Gustave's story is done. That is not a sign of a "great" cast.

France has always been the land of sex, no incels in france thus their vidya quality improves dramatically. Sex havers keep on winning.

words words words

Dumb contrarian, no one cares abour your incel ass.

the ending battle got ruined for me because I was way too high level after killing optional bosses

It's the best written game I've ever played.
I'm not talking about story. I'm talking about writing. No other game comes to mind.

PS. Do I fit in yet?

you make the case to support your opinion, it must be deeply frustrating for you to be in such disagreement with consensus on this one. you sound very hard to please.

So much paid shills lmao.

The game is mid, but latest releases are so bad this looks like a masterpiece in comparison.

lol seething looneytroon

gameplay

I agree that in most builds you end up using only 2-3 spells. QTEs being 1-dimensional isn't a bad thing, I think I liked not just looking at an animation during my attack.

parry windows

They should have made a more sophisticated difficulty system exactly for this

hybrid mechanics and overall gameplay

It's unique and fun. I know that for some people it's the weakest part of the game but most enjoy the gameplay. If you don't like it then ok.

Ok I hadn't even read your post and started answering since I partially agreed with your points about the gameplay. I was probably baited but whatever.

stay mad

How the FUCK did the Frenchies do it?

French people are just born with soul.

It's how paid shills operate. Once they their contract runs out you'll hear nothing about the game again other than for shitposting.

I love this game

While not perfect, E33 is genuinely one of the best JRPGs Ive played in the past 2 decades. it completely mogged FF15, FF16 and the remake games. So funny how it came out of nowhere too.

Play more games

I watched a few streams of this and it just looked like generic 4 niggas in a row slop but with "press X to win" added in. I swear the people praising this garbage have never actually played a good game.

Why is MaelleAlicia such a brocon? The devs are cowards for not including her as a romance option.

The combat, artstyle, bossfights, overworld, OST, characters/story/writing.

It's just an overall good package. I would give it a strong 8.5/10, which is better than pretty much every non-Souls JRPG out there.

It didnt come out of nowhere Anon Babble already anointed it the savior of turn based games when it was announced

The party is limited to 3 niggas so you're blind and retarded, congrats

I've literally never seen a single e33 thread discuss the gameplay. Its always just calling it the greatest game ever or goon threads

Its extremely average

didn't refute that it's generic slop and instead went with ACKSHUALLY

Thanks for proving me right.

agreed, first story i can remember that really hits the demiurge<>creation concept and did it artfully. hits home. hits into nostalgia + grief.

Boy you really pissed off the shills and gcj with this one, good job.

Nobody actually believes this

still didn't refute the point

>still didn't refute the point

Agreed, it shows what a small team of passionate devs can make I mean I say devs but half of the guys working on this game, this is their first game ever they were learning on the game fulfilling multiroles that to me shows how much they really cared for this game.
I watched an interview with the voice actor for Monoco and he is blown away by the reception of the game saying that they had no idea it would receive anywhere close to the positive reception it's gotten, he said Ben Starr said to him that it's a great game but don't be surprised if it gets no more than 80% metacritic score.
I'm glad Ben was wrong but for the best of reasons, Verso is a great written character and I they all were I can't picture anyone else voicing the characters than the people who did.

ignore all skills that aren't their highest costing

only after they hit the point where they are able to get huge amounts of AP every turn, usually not until Act 3 from having loads of different lumina.

The game is balanced in such a way that you are meant to be broken late game, where you stack tons of lumina and can basically get 9AP every turn, plus the exploit of First Strike + Speed Picto stacking. Whether you think that is a good thing is personal preference, but the game was purposely designed as such. For most of the game though, your power is greatly limited and even with max damage on your turn, you will still be trading blows on Expert, so not dodging/parrying can quickly lead to a squad wipe.

the inclusion of those mechanics the game becomes disgustingly easy on any difficulty, so they have to be tuned to have very small windows

The windows are not small at all, they are actually pretty generous. What makes them difficult is learning the moves and the exact timings unique to each enemy; it's not like a rhythm game where you can see a linear and predictable timing, you actually have to learn movesets and learn what tells are best for which moves. Harder bosses have long multi-hit combos that are extremely difficult to parry/dodge perfectly, which is basically why the strategies for them revolve around First Strike + Speed Picto (an exploit that allows you to get 6 player moves in a row, 12 with cheater) so you never have to even interact with the enemy at all.

It is, funnily enough, shallower and easier than if it had just settled to be one or the other

It's not the deepest or most challenging, but it is *fun*, and that's what's important. The boss designs and enemy movesets in particular are top-notch and keep you engaged, and messing around with lumina, along with the power fantasy from breaking the game are extremely satisfying. With that said, on Expert, it is still harder than 95% of JRPGs assuming you don't look up broken builds.

Nigga i aint reading that

Yep youre exactly right. Leave the thread and don't ever discuss the game again.

No you see, you don't get it. He needs to tell us all that he doesn't like a game he hasn't played, why? Because he's a narcissist.

The gameplay is really fun.

CUTE

Sirene is the best area hands down, felt like there were too many wilderness levels in comparison (the above water coral forests were cool though). The yellow tree ones with a fuck ton of intense volumetric fog that blind you with the sunlight are my least favorite. That indigo tree area was kinda shitty too.

It's all a dream ending was done better in mario 2.
