Holy shit this is so much fucking better than Mario 64
Holy shit this is so much fucking better than Mario 64
True.
...in opposite world.
got bored of spamming crash
now is gonna spam spyro 1
Not even 2 or 3
LOL you're not even trying.
It's really not. That's why nobody is playing this anymore while SM64 is still one of the top speedrunning games.
I replayed the Spyro trilogy a few years back when the remastered released and they have aged like dogshit. I loved them as a kid, but holy shit they are piss easy and no fun at all to play anymore. I don't think there is a single real challenge in the first game.
Mario 64 fan not mentioning speedtrooning
challenge level: impossible
if challenge via speedrunning is all that matters then battle for bikini bottom must be the best game ever yes?
speedrunning
No, but Bikini Bottom is a lot better than this. At least that game offers some semblance of a challenge. Meanwhile, Spyro is the most piss easy boring game to fucking play.
Mario 64
offering a challenge
The only challenge is getting the camera out of your asshole and facing where you want to go
stop talking about videogames on the videogame board
le speedruns!
2 and 3 are worse because forced backtracking, minigame spam and significantly shittier level design
true
I loved spyro and also crash warped. maro 64 seemed gay and retarded to me even as a kid.
2 had the best bgm tho when you are cheeling before entering the portals, 3 doesn't quite do it.
I like both but I do personally find spyro to be the only platformer of that era to actually be on par with 64.
it's pretty alright
came out two years later
Had help from Naughty Dog.
Not a launch title for unfamiliar hardware.
Of course it turned out better.
Mario 64 has more fun platforming and movement
Spyro has more fun exploration and SOVL
they're both 10/10 in different ways
What is lacked in complexity it soared with interesting environments and layouts. One of the first times I think a game truly captured that dream like aesthetic.
Also, the horn charge is a 10/10 game mechanic, feels so good just to run around.
I 100% Spyro 1 once every year and even I know Mario 64 is a much better platformer
Mario 64 has more fun platforming and movement
But who fucking cares when the camera, controls, level design, hazards, enemy design, boss design, and challenge level are all dogshit?
2>1>3
This is a fact. Don't bother replying

Controls
You can say a lot of things about Mario 64, but the way mario controls is damn near perfect.
Based and true opinion.
Holy shit this is so much better than Mario 64/Spyro the Faggon
The only way this is remotely true is if you're comparing homeworlds
I can agree with this. Spyro’s strengths are in the music and atmosphere of the worlds. 64 just excels at movement tech and core mechanics
Played this for the first time in 2019. The gameplay felt like Banjo-Kazooie with Sonic 3D Blast level design.
Based and true
the first game is a lot better.
Shut the fuck up. You know damn well that isn't true.
Controls are way too slippery, the physics are inconsistent, and the camera is fucking atrocious. They just slapped the physics of the 2D games on a 3D game and called it a day. Trying to maintain momentum when you are constantly fighting the dogshit camera just doesn't work like it does in 2D where the camera always perfectly follows the action
3 is irredeemable dogshit so I have to agree with you
Only retards hold this opinion. Having to backtrack for gems, dogshit minigames, and ruining the atmosphere and cohesion of Spyro 1’s setting make it an objectively worse game. It didn’t even expand on the basic core platforming mechanics besides ladder climbing, swimming, and being able to break like 2 or 3 walls, all of which had to be bought and actually subtracted from the platforming itself.
Furry always better
It's very true. It's much tighter game. Better maps and better gameplay.
speedrunning
KEK
Not sure why anyone would think otherwise
You can always tell sequelfags are always secondary johnny-come-lately who’s first game in the series is the second game after the first one was a breakout hit.
Crash 2
Spyro 2
Resident Evil 2
Dark Souls 2
It wouldn’t even be bad if these faggots didn’t always act like their favorite game it objectively the best one uncontestedly and were arrogant faggots about it.
1 has horrible non-bosses, worse movement than 2 with no double jump flutter etc, no memorable characters other than random dragons saying THANK YOU FOR RELEASING ME, a slightly worse OST, and you can't even compare atmosphere when 2's homeworlds exist. 2>1>3 cry about it.
Crash 2
Is better than the first game.
Spyro 2
1st game is better
Resident Evil 2
3 is better
Dark Souls 2
That's just contrarian core, same with DMC2 posting.
here's that better level design and tighter gameplay I was telling you about
You're upset because you know it's true and it hurts your feelings.
Wow can't believe people like games released once devs figure out a formula and hit their stride!
I started with Demon's Souls. Had way more fun with Dark Souls 2 than 1
Crash hater
look inside
filtered shitter
Not enjoying the delayed gratification of returning to a previous world and finally getting that 100%
You must hate metroidvanias huh
one level is hard
THE WHOLE GAME IS BAD
filtered tendie
Yup, it's the same guy.
Oh no it's too hard for me :(
okay schizo
fun fact: did you know that at least 50% of speedrunners are women?
filtered, i got 120 stars when i was 8 or 9 years old
Fact Check: did you know that at least 50% of speedrunners are women?
FALSE
50% of speedrunners are "women"
Crash 2 and Spyro 2 are both better games
The first game is GOOD, but the second game is inarguably better, and they absolutely should have let you use its moveset in 1 in the N. Sane Trilogy.
Even if it was a Game Completion bonus.
Even in a shitpost thread trying this shit
better gameplay
Crash 2 has the slide jump
Seems like it. It's sad how transparent it all is.
fpbp.
all the sonyfags who get triggered by this raw truth
lmao
Spyro 1 gets too repetitive for me by the end. The game never evolved beyond walking around and picking up things, and the only interesting level designs come from super charge ramps of which there are maybe three levels that use them well.
2 has more varied level themes, more varied music, more varied level goals, and a more varied moveset because of the unlockable abilities. It also looks nicer, has better voice acting, and a better cast of characters
Spyro 2 and 3 were so boring that they made me stop and think what I am doing with my life; it actively felt like a chore to play. I don't care how good a game is on paper, if it's not fun to play, it can never be anything better than mediocre.
Mario 64, Spyro, and Crash 2 are the peak of the genre.
Mario 64 is trash
711128262
you
Spyro 2 is fun to play thoughever
the unlockable abilities don't really add anything
swimming should just be default
headbash does nothing but push buttons and open specific boxes
climbing is slow and stupid and literally never used ANYWHERE interesting
these only exist as a form of forced backtracking
wow why did you post my favorite level out of nowhere (heh)? the fluidity of that level feels nice
Swimming being so good makes it worth it, plus the power ups are more interesting too
Recolors your normal flame to break metal
vs
Being able to shoot fireballs to do that at range
trying to get all the eggs in the treetops without using a guide
all three games have really good bgms, the drummer from the police (can't remember his name) is a fucking legend
Crash 2 with the slide jump pretty much *is* the ideal Crash. You go back to 1 and it feels like you’re missing a limb. No slide, no slide jump, no slide spin—just stiff little hops until you’re faceplanting into some jank hitbox. It’s like running a marathon in flip-flops compared to the full sprint agility you get in 2. Activision not including 2’s moveset as a toggle in the N.Sane port of Crash 1 was a war crime.
I love it more than Super Mario 64, but it's also a four hour game if you know what you're doing, even ignoring speed running. It's a nice game to play in Afternoon and you then go do something else. It's also my favorite of the trilogy and I'll still be playing it in a decade.
I like the magma crater section where you can move from side to side as you climb up the volcano, but that's the exception rather than the rule.
Hey zoomer. Aside from RPGs, games were only a few hours long when you knew what you were doing, and they were meant to be replayed and mastered. It's only recently that 20-40+ bloated hours for an adventure or action game is the norm.
mario is for trannies so yes spyro is king
Nigger literally any half decent platformer is better than SHARTio
I recently saw a video about the development of Spyro Enter the Dragonfly and god, what a train wreck. Fuck Universal.
speedrunning
This is why you'll always be seen as a fucking blight to anyone who's an actual 3D platformer aficionado. I don't even hate SM64 but to stay in the realm of things Galaxy 1 borderline invalidates it.
I just like Spyro 3 bros, despite its flaws.
I don't think it's a bad game, especially after the previous two games and wanting to do something different. The main issue is not all the new gameplay styles have a lot of depth to them and some like Bentley have weird mini games tied to them like Yeti Boxing. But you have parts like Sheila's 2D platformer segment and Sergeant Byrd being playable in one of the main levels.
Oh yeah, out of the friends Bentley is the worse to play as. Just felt like the Forgotten Worlds were more connected than Avalon, feeling for the people who didn't ask for Magic to start leaving their worlds, causing them to be separated from friends/family. Also liked that EVERYONE fucking hated the Sorceress, where as in 2 I don't think anyone aside from the main NPCs ever mentioned Ripto.
SM64 is better...because mentally ill people love it
I don't think this is the own you believe it is
Spyro 1
The villain spends the entire "fight" just running away like a bitch and goes down in two hits.
Spyro 2
Kino three part battle where you're both racing each other to the superpower orbs and then the arena gets nuked for a dogfight over lava.
I get it's not really an "excuse", but it's kind of funny to me that people don't get the gag with the Gnasty Gnorc fight.
Spyro 1 was where they didn't know how to make bosses yet. The only boss that really stands out is metalhead because you can make him attack his own poles and you still have to dodge his stuff rather than chase and flame him.
Well so is Banjo-Kazooie.
Mario 64's nothing special in the years since its release.
It helps that Ripto is a villain that has way more presence than Gnasty too. And Greg Berger just does a really great job voicing him (and Hunter too)
The Gnasty fight is also technically a deliberate joke.
With Ripto sort of being an inverse of the joke
spyro is fucking boring as shit to play because there is literally no depth in the movement
the only reason people like it outside of nostalgia is the music, atmosphere, and you play as an underage dragon
The lesson here is that your final boss shouldn't be a joke (unless you have a real final boss before that at least)
mario 64 is the school shooter/mk ultra victim/freemason fan game
sunshine is the real deal
Maybe, I don't know, I kind of like Spyro more as an atmospheric type game where you explore the levels, the bosses seem more obligatory than anything, and even their stages leak back into the exploration type gameplay.
No but actually, autists today are still doing weird shit with Mario like that Deckbuilder Rougelike. I can't think of anything interesting Spyro wise.
Also, is this thing good on the Deck? Is on sale. I only really played the first game for five minutes as a kid so no nostalgia clouding me
